I'm sure most of us initial shipped users got the orange manual. Keep this all in tact. In 25 years *SOMEBODY* will likely pay good money for it. Heck, I still have my original DOOM 3.5" Floppies in the original box with the manual. hehe.

I'm glad someone can run this thing full on. If I turn on everything (I run 1280x1024) along with Quincuxx on my Overclocked-watercooled XP2100 and TI4600 (315/710) Some of the maps (particularly inferno) Drop to 18-20 FPS. Cant wait for NV30, so I got a Radeon 9700 Pro and waterblock coming with a new XP 2600+ not far behind. Thank god for credit cards.

From Epic's Licencing page:

>>>I'm confused is it the Unreal II Engine, the UT2003 Engine, the Unreal Warfare Engine, the Unreal Championship Engine or the Unreal Tournament Engine?

It is neither. It is simply the "Unreal Engine". You'll sometimes hear it referred to as any one of these but as far as what licensees get there is really no distinction. During development licensees get continued access to all of Epic's technology updates and licensees are the ones to decide when they're going to stop using new updates and ship their game. For more information about the latest technology updates check out the Unreal Engine News page.<<<

Clear as mud now right?

It does look quite good. Already a confirmed bug with remapping "movement to a mouse key. It stutters. Just use the keyboard for movement. controlling the choppers and humvees seems the order of the day (strategically to cover the spawn points) Fun tho!

There is indeed code for a vehicle in the game engine. This is for MOD use (at least at this point) as the vehicle is not "in" UT2003.

I've been on only a handful of servers where my team actually know the concept of capturing and holding the flags to win the game

No kidding. Regardless of the team game type (or even the game itself for that matter), it seems the "FFA deathmatch" mentality abounds. seems only in organized clan matches do you USUALLY get people who will play as a team and not just everyone try to be the top kill scorer.

Heh, yep Duke-"kana" was announced in 1998! I fear the "engine-of-the-month club" mentality will strike again once they see UT2003, Unreal, UT Championship, ect, Unreal warfare engine content explode this year. Hell, I'm CERTAIN that with the full new more-user-friendly UnrealEd editor being included, (including a lite version of Maya for crying out loud), Unreal warfare based content is going to be EVERYWHERE long before the unreal engine based DNF (regardless of how "tweaked" it is) is ever released. It's going to look dated the day it comes out, just like Datkana did. 3DRealms had a window there, a big one, but IMHO they will lose it once the unreal warfare engine content hits en-masse. They likely will have no choice but to "upgrade" DNF's engine, yet again.

(apologies for getting off topic, I just loved Duke so much. It's painful seeing the dream turn into cobwebs)

Two more weeks!!

Here it is Guildmere. But let me warn you it's mostly in French.(I'm using altavista translations to painstakingly convert all the docs to english) But in any event, here ya go.

A warning however. The 3.0 patch (and the mech packs) also installs the c-dilla cd protection software. The problem is many are experiencing system wide problems with this.

Here is a thread discussing the matter:

http://www.dropshipcommand.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=2104&forum=DCForumID2&omm=54&viewmode=threaded

FINAL NOTE: Dont shoot the messenger. Just providing info on the patch is all. You decide for yourself what to make of it..

With regards to the title of this post, this whole mess *is *NOT* a bug*. It's a "feature", courtesy of Microsoft. Starting with Win2k/XP M$ decided to handle refresh rate assignment for all resolutions differently than they did for Windows 98/95. Please don't ask me why as I go into screaming fits trying to figure this one out.

Now for the good news...are you sitting down? This is going to be FIXED in Win2k Service Pack 3 and WinXP Service Pack 1!

And another thing, Anyone who may be using the VERY COMMON WinXP corporate CD-Key that is floating around, MS is well aware of this key and you will be unable to apply the service pack. Whats more, even trying to will disable windows update for good. They will not destroy your install of XP, they will simply prevent you from ever upgrading it. This is more than fair IMHO. They will let you continue to use the OS (Frankly, they would likely be within thier rights to disable it entirely) But they figure if you cant ever patch, you will get a legitemate copy.

Kudos to MS for taking the high road. and Finally getting off thier arse and fixing the refresh bug!!
