I could have sworn that one of the stretch-mark goals was to dig Ginger Lynn Allen's fat ass out of the Twinkie induced coma she's been living in. Unfortunately, time and the extra 100 pounds have done little to bolster her amazing career *cough*. The last thing I have been able to find online is a cheap video that looks like it was shot on someone's cell that shows her chunky frame blowing a guy in the backyard of what looks like a trailor park.

Images we could all do without in our heads. Thanks.

Yeah. And as we can see FPS getting added to Squadron 42 was the $29 million stretch goal, unlocked on 11/22/2013. It was added in almost a full year after the KS campaign. The original backers never pledged for this bloated shit. Quote:

Enhanced Mission Design for Squadron 42 – The team at Foundry 42 has big plans for Squadron 42, and we’re going to provide extra funding to make it a true spiritual successor to Wing Commander! Squadron 42 can go above and beyond anything you’ve seen before. From opening with an epic battle instead of a training patrol to missions that seamlessly combine boarding and space combat, we aim to put you right into the action! Additional funding will let the team realize this, with enhanced mission design and more resources and animations to enhance fidelity.

Yeah. They are totally going to pull this off without a hitch. Plus the MMO part too...no problem. Wall

What I really don't care for much, is all the polite devs spouting generic PR garbage because they're afraid of upsetting their friends in the community, or afraid for their "job security".

When you have a publisher over you, you really can't just say whatever you want.

That said, I prefer direct honesty about something versus BS PR speak.

That still doesn't mean that Derek Smart has the right balance in dealing with the community.

I can't really argue with his Star Citizen observations though. I still don't think they really know how they are going to fit it all together.

Once customers get used to refunds on steam, there will be a domino effect where they will demand the same thing on every other platform. Then we shall have better polished games on release.

I'd like to think that is going to be the end effect but I still think we'll get our fair share of stinkers.

That's a very interesting article, and it presents an honest view of Star Citizen/current Kickstarter nonsense. Don't disregard it just because Derek Smart wrote it.

I think we all pretty much agree that the parts he wrote relating to Star Citizen have some merit.

Chris Roberts has always been a very good seller of ideas. He sold the idea of Wing Commander to a publisher with NOTHING to show for it. No working code, no concept art etc.

Later Rocksteady. See you in a 75% off sale sometime down the road for the GOTY edition.

Well I impulse preordered along with a friend yesterday and now immediately put in for a refund when I played.

There is no way that the game should perform so poorly. It doesn't look good enough to justify that.

I've been fine with other Arkham games, but this one is definitely performing like crap on my rig.

So do people actually LIKE headaches? Why buy AMD?

Every game that launches has AMD issues. Why would you want to subject yourself to that?

I bought Wasteland 2 and Hand of Fate.

Wasteland 2 I'm waiting for the GOTY edition before I play.

Hand of Fate is an awesome game. Great atmosphere and fun. Never played a card game dungeon crawler before. It's definitely different and interesting.

No i didn't play it, but I also didn't judge it as obviously being a lame title (from a trailer alone?! what is this, IGN?) that had no appeal to gamers because it wasn't mainstream enough.

Yeah but would you have simply bought it based on what they presented? Because it sounds like most people didn't. And if that's the case, where does the fault lie?

If you're a game developer, it's your job to make other people want to buy your product. If they don't buy it, who's ultimately responsible?

It's just odd that we're A) talking about a game that so far no one on this thread has played. and B) shaming them for "being too niche" when every other thread on blues is devoted solely for bashing games that take a too populist approach.

or, in the words of the great harlock - "gaba gaba mmmph harum pbbbbbbbpf"

It's not odd at all. First of all, you'd have to be pretty dumb to really think that people wanting to see new things in gaming means 'throw out everything and replace it with something else entirely'. Most of the time, people want just enough innovation and advancement to make familiar game types feel interesting and like they have something new to discover.

Sure, sometimes someone will come along and make a Dear Esther or something like that. But how often does that actually happen?

Secondly, and again, it may not be a bad game at all. It didn't, however, make people want to buy it even with the good reviews. What does that tell you?

and has one of you PLAYED this fucking game? no. but apparently you're all experts on how much it sucks, and how they deserved to fail. from what I've read this game got GOOD reviews from the press, no? how heartless are you fucks?

Have YOU played it? Would YOU have bought it from the description and trailer?

How many adventure games do you own and play?

Who was the audience that this was trying to appeal to?

No one is saying its a bad game, it just isn't an appealing game based on how they marketed it. People do things that are vastly different sometimes and sometimes those things fail.

"Hey I made this awesome game where you play as a housekeeper in the 70s!!"

"Uhhh...yeah?"

"Yeah it's great you should totally buy it! There's a civil war going on and everything!"

"And you're a housekeeper right...?" Undecided

Adventure/point and click games aren't really in the "hit it big" category.

I personally don't play very many, but this one doesn't really jump out at me as something that screams 'must have for all adventure game lovers.'

When I saw the description on Steam I thought they were making a more mundane 'Viscera Cleanup Detail'.

Star Ruler 2 rocks. It is a very underrated game that didn't get enough press.

Maybe thats because there's Star Ruler 1 which is still without half of the promised features... Let me guess they promise all those missing ones in Star Ruler 2 but they arent quite finished right? ...

No idea what you're talking about and I'm not sure anyone else knows either. Star Ruler 2 went through Early Access and AFAIK is exactly what they proposed to make.

Sales in SR2 have nothing to do with SR1 since it sold much better. It's just 3 guys and they didn't have a big marketing push.

Why would they not want to make another SoasE game?

I thought it sold well and was very popular. Was that not the case?
