I'm on the 'wait and see' bandwagon but I really do want to play this if it is good.

I'm really surprised by this. Why are they even bothering?

Did Titanfall 1 do much better than I thought?

I'm sorry but the opinion of one disgruntled former employee, or even a few, is not convincing evidence of a sinking ship, nor is a game still clearly in development a failed experiment. No doubt CR has unrealistic ambition, but this has been known for decades, and is actually is reason I backed the project at $150. Foolish? Maybe. But I'm taking the risk to see how it plays out.

Uhhh..Rob Irving isn't some nobody in the industry. So I'd be way more willing to take what he says seriously compared to Derek Smart.

I love the game, but I do have to say you have to enjoy the playstyle of a given faction. They are really quite varied and don't suit everyone's tastes. For example, I'm not a particular fan of the Cultist gameplay. It's a neat concept, but I don't enjoy the one city setup.

Of course, you can always edit your faction to suit your playstyle too.

It's true. There are factions I haven't played yet because I kind of know the playstyles I like. The Allayi are a very interesting one though. Dual personalities and forms. They play differently to all the other races.

Tons better than it was at launch. The Guardians and Shadows DLC really added to it and the new Shifters brings a whole new dimension to playing and seasonal changes.

Lots of free content for the base game was added too so it is still worth a look.

How long can they actually go on like this though?

Rob Irving even says in an interview that Chris doesn't want to put the brakes on and just say no to anything. It is one of the reasons he walked away.

So how long can they keep up funding this type of development practice?

Everyone wants to jump on the "easy money" F2P train.

No one checks the actual state of the tracks and where they friggin' end up.

Shadow warrior is definitely worth it a that price.

Indeed it is but my question is why is there this sudden silence on the sequel? There was a big news dump and then a long silence since then with nothing new to show or no word from the developers.

I actually bought the first one, found out you couldn't even remap your keys, and promptly asked for a refund.

Their developer is incompetent, will never buy another game from them.

If you can't get 101 stuff right, get out of the business.

That was ENTIRELY your loss!!! Congratulations on your shallowness! Party Thumbsup Rolleyes

Modern gaming is mostly flash little substance with a few gems here and there.

And that's what most entertainment is, a diversion. What else is it supposed to be? I don't game to get educated, I game for an escape. Same thing with music and film. I want to learn I watch a documentary or read a book. Going from MUDs to Everquest was fucking awesome! It wsa what most PnPers and MUDers had been dreaming about for years.

This. Most of the people who complain that modern games have lost their soul etc etc apparently don't realize that a lot of the mechanics they ticked the boxes on for 'hardcore' back in the day existed because technology was so limited that the developers had to settle for attempting more with less

Not sure how the hell you got burnt out on the first game when it was so freaking short. The second one was better with more options and game modes plus Co-Op.

I want a proper sequel. Not this MOBA shite everyone seems to feel obligated to try. F2P sucks donkey testicles.

For a free game you guy sure want to complain,

It wasn't free you moron. To the people who funded the game, they had every right to complain about it. PA was crowdfunded, since players funded the development of the game. The developer broke it's promises and then some. No one in their right mind would not criticize the clusterfuck that was planetary annihilation.

You do realize that crowd funding doesn't actually have any guarantees though right? Its basically you throwing your money at a project in the hopes it not only gets completed, but completed well. Those folks that threw over $10K at Star Citizen? They have zero recourse if the game never moves past beta.

The current humble bundle offers some great games for like 12 dollars. This includes Grey Goo, which is a pretty damn decent RTS.
