Mass Effect 2 should be a KotOR crossover. Obviously, nowhere knew where Revan was in KotOR2 because he got lost and ended up in the Milky Way.

Back when it was first released, people seemed split between mouse/keyboard and a gamepad. I went the gamepad route, but you don't need the 360 controller for it (even though it works well) just a gamepad with four buttons in front and at least two shoulder buttons.

As far as repetition goes, I don't know what everyone thinks was so bad about it. It's hardly fair to compare this to Far Cry 2, where the repetition was simply a game-lengthening device. In Assassin's Creed, the repetition (and there is very little actual repetition, it's actually in the form of how each assassination is structured: go to the city, check in at the bureau, research the mark, make the hit, repeat) always advances the game forward. It's like complaining about backtracking in Dead Space; these things aren't bad design decisions when they're not used as a way to cut corners. The PC version of Assassin's Creed even has more variety in the research missions, although the extra types seem tacked on.

Bunch of whiners. AC was easily worth full price at release, and most certainly isn't a crappy port, even has noticeably better graphics than the console version in DirectX 10 with very little performance hit.

I guess bitching about ports is just the latest trendy thing to do. Granted, with this particular game, the way Ubisoft tried to discourage piracy was probably the biggest PR oops of the century, but that didn't reflect the final product.

I'm too afraid to check, but I'm going to assume Half Life Hero was "written" by the same guy who wrote "Full Life Consequences."

I wonder if we could just pay Derek to stop making stuff in general.

Wishful thinking. Rolleyes

The sad thing is, he's not a stupid guy, he just bogs down anything intelligent he has to say (and any intelligent game design he has the potential to do) with nerd rage, bizarrely directed misanthropy and mind-numbing egotistical nonsense.

Can we get some foresight in the Ubisoft offices, plz?

Installing the digital distro patch: "This patch is for the digital download version of HAWX. Please download the retail patch."

Okay, maybe the Steam copy just reads like the retail copy.

"You do not have this game installed."

I'm kind-of hoping they just integrated the patch into the initial Steam download, but I'd think it would've been mentioned somewhere. And also, why does the Steam copy not have the DirectX10 executable? Anyone?

Anyone?

Bueller? Seriously, if there's been some sort of problem with it, would it be that hard to put out a newspost about it?

Man, I got my PS3 right in the dead-zone of no good (or, for that matter, any) bundles, after the MGS4 bundle was discontinued and before I found out there'd be an Uncharted bundle a month or so later.

So very true about Resistance. I didn't care that much for the first game, but at least it was trying to be its own thing.

PS3 developers need to get it out of their heads that they're going to replicate Halo's success, it's not going to happen, mostly because Halo's success has absolutely nothing to do with game design as it did the style of it somehow striking a chord with a very large demographic. Killzone 2 is the biggest pile of crap I've yet to see on this generation of consoles, even without the response lag. Seriously, developers, if you insist I must play first-person shooters on a gamepad, can the freelook at least not feel like I'm trying to push through mud. I never liked God of War, but enough people seem to think of Kratos as Sony's mascot at this point, why not rip that off? A deluge of third-person hack & slash has got to be better than this deluge of not!Halo.

If Sony had any brains, they'd have paid Square to a) not jump to the 360 with FF13 and b) pay them whatever it would take to get them working on the damn FF7 remake they're definitely not making {maybe.)

The G9 is an awesome mouse, especailly with the sensitivity ajuster placed right below the left button. But careful on those weights; they can cause a lot of strain on your wrist.

Um, bending to the will of the market is Game Design 101 these days.

Hasn't this been been Every Business 101 since the first days of commerce?

Retarded elitism is killing PC gaming more than the consolitis that retarded elitists always yammer on about like they're five years old.

This is the first time I've seen the game in motion and it looks like they need some better Mo-Cap actors, but even so, I'm looking forward to it. I hope they're not joking about the severity of choices, things like not being able to re-initiate the same conversation with an NPC to see where the other dialog tree would go.

I like how he's completely conscious of what they're borrowing from other espionage fandoms, too. Makes me think it's not going to take itself so seriously that it'd be one cliche after another from beginning to end.

Ten bucks says Johnny Sasaki is MGS5's protagonist, and the game opens with his honeymoon being interrupted.

Interrupted by his stomach, not by terrorists.

protagonist

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Really, though, the only problem with the fact that Fettle is the better proantagonist is that the bastard's dead. How silly was it in extraction point when it was like, "Nope he gets back up because Alma stares at him a little bit. Lulz."

Still, they really do need to come up with something along those lines again. Dude was creepy as shit and all he had going for outward appearances was some blood on his clothes.

How much did the shipping company pay them to push their overnight service, I wonder?

Hmmm, much as I'm usually a sucker for pre-order bling, I don't think something that's not in-game is really worth the cost of doing business with Gamestop. Think I'll stick with Newegg and GoGamer for the time being.

I only gave Fable 2 a rental. The first isn't terrible, but it certainly suffered from over-ambition, and I wish I hadn't spent money on it. It was fun, just nowhere near what it was supposed to be, and there are better games out there. Fable 2 is largely just a current-gen version of the same game, with similar devices in the story. I'd say play them if you can get them cheap (shouldn't be hard with the first one at this point) or as rentals.

Who doesn't want to use the Osprey to shuttle troops around!?

I want to see cool shit blow up.

Actual troops.

With the Osprey, you only need to watch it take off to watch it blow up. About the only thing more unreliable than a tilt-rotor is the ol' Whistling Shitcan o'Death.

Considering the horrid controls of DMC4 on PC i think he was sarcastic

Edit: I should clarify, i do not own an Xbox360 nor do i want to own an controller from a console. So im playing KB and Mouse, and that means i rate DMC4 according to that..

What the hell were you expecting from a third-person fixed camera platformer, that the mouse is going to read your mind? "Waaahhhh if I get a GAMEPAD it means I'm a race traitor to the other elitest PC gamers!" Grow up.

Let's not even get into the stupid mentality of "It's not real gaming if there are no quicksaves!"

I've never understood the hard-on some people have for FF6, at least not as a "better" alternative to FF7. It's only "intricate" because the cast is all stuck on one job class each, and the plot quite literally stops halfway through. Kefka carries the whole damn thing.

I was all set to move on and drop a comment about the numbskull bitching about multiplayer gaming, wherin I would've said something about how the obvious solution is to go multiplayer on the PC, where it's far from perfect, but there tends to be a better curve towards players who behave and play the game like sane people.

Then I got to this...

The numbskulls in Team Fortress 2 who seemed to know each other and competed to gross everyone out with vivid and expletive-filled descriptions of bodily functions, roadkill, botched surgeries, and other things people should not have to hear while trying to play a game.

...and there's a decent chance he's talking about me. Guilty as charged, I guess. Open foot insert mouth.
