Abbyshot is another (probably the best) store for things like this; if you've ever seen a trenchcoat or a jacket in a movie or game and wished someone actually sold it, and not just as a cheap costume, they probably do.

Funny how everyone is quick to jump on developers moving to consoles with "Where would they be if it wasn't for us? They should remember their roots!" but id making a new IP instead of rehashing their usual two for the umpteenth time is bad.

If you pre-order from Steam, yes. I've heard pre-orders from other sources can't put their keys into Steam yet and thus don't have the items.

I'm surprised so many people are down on Dead Money. I thought the design was quite brilliant. It especially worked as a contrast to the normal Mojave gameplay. I was forced to leave my comfort zone with no companions, sniper rifle, or other usual comforts. Great use of a relatively small area (the Villa) with multiple levels, collar barriers, and the mist. Creepy atmosphere.

That's probably why a lot of people don't like it. Change is a hard sell in general, and usually even harder as far as gaming is concerned. The problem is probably made worse by the fact that as well-made as it is, New Vegas is still fairly easy to abuse even without a powergaming character build, and Dead Money simply doesn't allow it.

I'm trying to understand here how the topic of this thread directly relates to accusations of war crimes committed by the U.S. Armed Forces...

I'm guessing that by "America" he means the entire western world plus Russia (or does Russia count since the Soviet Union imploded? I've never been clear on that.) It's still completely absurd.

Christ, if you read some of the accounts of the shit that happened in both Chechen conflicts you'd think the U.S. was fighting abroad by handing out Christmas presents and forcefully administering affection-filled hug

It's funny how it shocks people that bad things happen in armed conflict, and how skewed perception is on how bad things are versus how bad things could be. People think torture can't get worse than waterboarding and "war crimes" means David Motari chucking a puppy.

Don't be such an idiot "Dr.". You know damn well what we mean.

Of course I do, because I can read minds. Actually, no I don't, because your posts are about a topic completely unrelated to the news at hand and make generalizations of such an absurd level that it's impossible to glean any meaning from them beyond your political opinions. It's hilarious how you don't realize you're doing the exact same thing you accuse everyone else of doing, just in the opposite direction.

My greater concern is the radar implementation...

I sincerely hope that they've changed the radar functionality since the leaked build or that the game is moddable enough to have the community change it.

Sounds like the dev team's played a little too much Metal Gear and got too attached to soliton radar. I'm not holding my breath on moddability; I imagine if it was pliable there would've been some news from modders poking and prodding the leak, but who knows, maybe it'll have a surprise SDK. It'd be nice to see the original ported to the new engine. And it would probably get done faster than Black Mesa at this point.

Watching the coverage on this game has been a steady uphill climb; it's almost hard to believe my initial thought when it was announced was "epic fail in the making." The FOV issue was the last thing I'd found to gripe about. (Heck, even the third-person cover shouldn't be a problem for everyone dreading it. All the stuff I hear on it from people who played the leak say it's functionally identical to simply crouching behind something, with added spatial awareness, so you can still sneak without using it.)

[How Release Date Tomfoolery Works]

Which just leaves appeasing the brick and mortar retailers and the console players for why I can't play my Steam copy any sooner than three weeks from Tuesday. To be fair on the second point, I'd be pretty angry if I had to wait longer for a game on my chosen platform to get its release for no other reason than it being easier for the digital distro to have the button pressed too, but that's not going to stop me from being annoyed when it's the other way around.

God damn that is a dreadful, sorrowful story. I can't even imagine, did the driver do that on purpose or what? From the small amount of information I gathered on the actual accident it almost sounded like it wasn't an accident.

From what the kids said, the lady who was driving "had something wrong with her."

If she was suffering from an aneurysm or the lead-in to a stroke, she'd have likely been confused and unable to drive safely. That she didn't pull over is a tragedy, but sometimes people are too affected to be able to make even that simple decision.

Creston

Read the whole article; she was drunk and high. It's a wonder she didn't wreck before driving into oncoming traffic. She didn't do it on purpose and she probably wasn't in her right mind enough to pull over, but it certainly was her fault.

In regard to the ARM article - great for tablets, but why are most phones becoming tablets. Their HUGE! honest to god whilst slightly thinner the latest and greatest phones are the same size as a 1980s brick. People need to get past this "my phone can do everything" mentality and aim for a phone to be a phone, a tablet to be a tablet and a PC to be a PC.

People are lazy and don't want to put the effort into thinking about more than one device.

I trust the average PC gamer less than I do the average critic in terms of providing a good review.

Actually, a critic score of 76 and a user score of 5.4 are the same: average. Here is the 1-100 scale for reviewing video games:
95-100: Game of the Year
90-95: Good game and publisher gave us advertising revenue
80-89: Good game
70-80: Average game
65-69: Bad game
0-64: Not used

Yeah, except the validity of review scores is so tainted by advertising dollars that it's more like:

80-90: Garbage
90-99: Good
100: Call of Duty

I've never had a problem with punkbuster, sure you need to manually update your shit with PBSetup but it's not that difficult to keep things working.

Well, I have run PBSetup. Repeatedly, in fact. And I've spent hours searching through tech support threads on just about every forum even vaguely related to gaming to make Failbuster work right, and it never has.

I guess that one person who didn't have a problem getting Magicka co-op to work on release day magically caused all problems to be solved for everyone else. Maybe I can blink and cure Punkbuster of all bugs in a nanosecond.
