The main thing I'm looking forward to is backwards compatibility though (I got a taste of it with the Rare Replay collection). I never had a 360 but there are a few games I've always wanted to try, for example Shadow Complex. I think that's a smart move on Microsoft's part to gain more fans who had Playstation last generation. Sony is doing the same thing with PS3 remasters, but those take longer to make and gamers tend to view them more negatively as money grabs. Hell, I may even check out those Gears of Wars games everyone likes to make fun of.

I don't know, is this really a factor at this stage though? I would've been super excited about backwards compatibility towards launch but both consoles now have decent libraries that I can barely keep up with, let alone replaying old stuff.

Don't get me wrong I think that its a smart PR move and I like the precedent it sets for the future. Can't argue with free either. I'm just not sure I would really use it. I was all stoked for PS Now, it runs very well for me but I barely used it in the free trial due to all of the newer games that keep coming out.

I guess maybe if they put Lost Odyssey and Tales of Vesperia on there then maybe I would be whistling a different tune

I outleveled the main quest for a little while but eventually caught up after some events in Novigrad. The only time I ever got too far ahead was when I started filling out my Gwent deck, all of that back and forth has you accruing XP doing various things.

Anyways I hope the mod does come out regardless, it seems to be a common complaint.

In my first play through I did everything I could that was level appropriate. If I was traveling between two areas, instead of using a waypoint I'd walk/ride it and do the PoI's in between. This so over-leveled me that by the time I was finished with the quests in Novigrad and ready to move onto the Level 16 'Destination: Skellige' I was level 28. That was normal mode.

I've since started a second play-through at the 2nd highest difficulty with the intent to ONLY do the main quests in hopes of not over-leveling (and a few side-stuff if I needed the levels). I just finished all the Red Barron/Witches quests and without having touched any side-content outside of the White Orchard. I'm not moving on to Pires of Novigrad (a level 10 quest) and despite all the effort to only do main quests, Geralt is level 16.

Fair enough, I didn't as much side content since I was wanting to save some for a second play through eventually. To your second comment, are you doing POI/etc on the way through main quest stuff? That seems...off somehow to be 6 levels up only doing main quest events but I haven't done the math yet on quest reward XP vs requirements.

The only time I ever got too far ahead was when I started filling out my Gwent deck, all of that back and forth has you accruing XP doing various things. The game remained fairly challenging on Death March regardless of level differences until I hit 25ish FWIW. Highly recommend to play the game on the higher difficulties, much more rewarding that way.

Anyways I hope the mod does come out regardless, it seems to be a common complaint.

Can you give an example that does political satire in a way more to your liking?

Also, Jon would not have lasted one year if Fox News and the right wing of the US political system didn't give him a freighter full of material to work with daily. Wingnuts with their hatred of other races, the poor, teh gey, wimmenz, "socialism" (but don't take away my medicare or social security!), etc. etc. need only look in the mirror for someone to blame for his existence.

I mean that's totally fair but even when he apologizes for something inaccurate he would always come off as very snarky about it and usually try to spin it in some way. I loved his work but he had his faults and he was pretty biased at times.

Unfortunately, history is full of apologists just like yourself who defended and even worshiped the very people that eventually destroyed them.

I find your faith willful ignorance amusing. Or maybe it's not willful, maybe youíre simply uneducated in history (I'm not saying you're stupid, you're obviously a bright guy/gal). And when I say history, Iím not referring to that propaganda laced tripe that's shown on the history channel or what you were taught in high school.

Haha yeah, how dare I react to the facts, investigate them myself and do my own research instead of going off into conspiracy theories and nonsense. Blindly accepting article titles and not doing your own research, sure sounds like faith and willful ignorance to me. Instead of looking to reinforce your opinion, maybe you should attempt to gain some experience with it to weigh in. You could install Windows 10 in a VM and actually do what others are doing, take a traffic dump and actually see whats going on. But no its easier to parrot shit and talk about regimes from the 40s as if its any way related. It's pretty telling that you seem to think I'm defending Microsoft or Windows 10, I'm just commenting on the facts. I think the telemetry setting is the only big deal and that it needs to change, I've weighed the rest and most of it was in Windows 8 and easily disabled. I also have a pretty long history of negative comments on Microsoft OS when and where its appropriate.

And by the way, fuck you very much too. How dare you label me an apologist for actually testing something for myself and commenting on it. When I insult someone I tend to be a little more direct instead of hiding behind a bunch of tripe about history and implying that their education is somehow inferior because they disagree with me. Don't project your insecurities on me.

That is a big non-answer that has nothing to do with the topic though. You said there is some sort of insidious idle data collection going on and there simply isn't. Windows 10 has basically one telemetry setting that can't be disabled, everything else is tied to a web service that can be or was held in a previous version of Windows.

As far as privacy goes Windows is pretty good, literally every other device you own these days is worse. Shit my TV tries to make outbound connections FFS. They just need to make sure the privacy toggles work as advertised (some are buggy) and to let people control that telemetry setting then its literally no different than prior versions.

I am fairly privacy conscious and I want these things to change too but some people here are frankly off their rockers with the hyperbole and even outright lies about what is actually going on. Let's react to what they're actually doing instead of imagining things and going off into conspiracy land. I doubt a single one of the people spouting such nonsense has actually run Windows 10 and tested any of these things, they are just parroting headlines and going no deeper than that.

A buddy of mine was over at my place last week and marveled at how fast the PS4 interface is by comparison. Apparently each Bone update has been making it more sluggish to the point where they are promising big gains from the Windows 10 redo with the Xbox One, whenever that arrives.

Sad to hear about Pranger losing his dream job with Nintendo but maybe you shouldn't violate internal communications policy, particularly when you have 100k of student debt and a family to worry about. He wasn't off the mark in his comments but it was the way he phrased them and the mocking tone he used.

How can he disprove something you haven't demonstrated to exist in the first place? Link a traffic dump from a border router showing this datas existence otherwise its just a meaningless bit of paranoia. Sure Microsoft could be collecting traffic to establish a network of advanced concentration camps....but there is no data to support that so no one has to disprove it. There are plenty of things Windows 10 does collect, we don't need to go around inventing things it doesn't.

If you're referring to PRISM then sure, lets just remember that literally every big tech company was also cooperating due to strong arming by the government. Facebook, Apple, Google, Cisco, etc. I don't see why other companies get a pass for this but Microsoft gets demonized.

Finally let's be realistic, all of these privacy toggles and internet based functions existed in Windows 8.1 except for Cortana. The only real difference in Windows 10 is the basic telemetry data setting and if they disable that its exactly like any other Windows version. If they do so, will people stop complaining?

I am not using Windows 10 yet and my tin-foil is already way too thick, but googling reveals; http://goo.gl/hcGh9p and
https://goo.gl/UqzZki

The first source has no evidence, just a bunch of allegations. The second is just a list of Microsoft servers. Arstechnica has a more reputable article with sources on what Windows does and doesn't collect.

To me it seems like a combination of rushed design (some settings just send useless traffic with no identifiers regardless of toggle setting) and basic telemetry data that they want for whatever reason. With a pretty good release otherwise they should really ask themselves if its worth all this bad press.

Edit: with link to article

I read an interesting note the other day about how Spielberg is trying to lure Gene Wilder into Ready Player One. It occurred to me I haven't seen him in anything for like 20 years.

True Detective finale was disappointing BTW, too many loose threads hanging over the course of the season. It wasn't anywhere near as bad as the vocal social media critics were saying but I'm glad we'll get a clean slate next year.

Look me up on Steam sometime, I will show you how to play it like soccer.

I'm just interested in more varied arenas. Currently they're all just rectangles, which is fine but also bland after a while. They've said there are crazier ones on the way, and all maps added will be free.

So far, it's fun, but I don't intend to play it enough to become a pro at it. Just a game to goof off with my buddies every week or two.

Yeah I'd like to see more map designs and some out of the box custom modes. Give me a 2 layer arena with more boost pads and 2 nets, just get silly with that shit.

Sigh. I feel like you're just interested in debunking any comparisons to soccer for some odd reason rather than Rocket League itself. I suggest you pick it up cheap in a Steam sale and decide for yourself on its merits.

People setup plays, pass and "control" the ball (as much as can be expected from an RC car) all the time. I'm not even terribly good at the game and its a lot of fun, I don't feel uncoordinated or any lack of control after getting through the learning phase either.

Also if you just randomly watch pubs in almost any game you're going to get chaotic nonsense. If you play with people you know on voice chat its night and day, much like any other game.

There were a bunch of setups in that video, some obvious (FF to 2:35) and others not so depending on familiarity with the game.
