Yeah I haven't been a fan of the current H1B program and corporations have been abusing it for awhile now so this is one change I can get behind, provided its reasonable.

Trump is pushing his agenda so quickly that the media cannot keep up.

It's chilling how effective this has become and despite its transparency the media is ill equipped to pivot due to the structure of their business and reporting cycles. He just shifts the cycle as soon as he needs to and they can't fact check or keep up.

I had to google what "kakistocracy" meant by the way haha.

The sole reason for "game mode" is more spying and more tracking of our gaming habits (like Steam does). Microsoft is pissed off that there are people like me who have immediately uninstalled the store, the Shitbox app and the game bar. So how do you sneak your spyware shit back in through the backdoor? Right. You create a "game mode" and hope that people won't notice or disable this garbage.

Microsoft can just install spyware through Windows Update at any time, they don't need to create a Game Mode to do that.

They are installing spyware on your Windows XP machine right now!!

Make like Sandra Bullock and disable The Net!

There was a huge uproar about how they handled both HR and Thief. They were both made by the same company and iirc both teams are in the same building. They focused on console designs for starters, press button to win. Secondly, even Ion Storm was smart enough to know stories need to contain empowered women and not just as sideline characters. These are the same people who didn't allow Jumping in Thief. In reality, nothing else should need to be said, after that absurdity. This doesn't even cover the Boss fights, where they forced you to kill.

I don't really understand why the takedown mechanic is problematic, the game gives you a variety of methods and tools to accomplish your goals. You're not forced to use takedowns. I have no idea where the female character thing comes from, every game doesn't need to be a statement about gender politics and frankly I never heard this brought up as a serious problem with either game. Not allowing jumping in Thief is dumb but that's Thief, not Deus Ex where you can jump and level design is very accommodating to sequence breaks and etc. The boss fight thing was never really a big deal to me but they went back and resolved it regardless.

I think its fine to have some complaints but to say that they "walk all over these IPs with hubris and bad decisions" seems like a big exaggeration. They were pretty reverential of the source material and even made every staff member replay the old game before they went to design documents.

I hope this forces some necessary debate about immigration policy, it's been too open in North America for some time now and its been to the detriment of our work force. Speaking anecdotally I've been very nervous about the numbers of muslim refugees not so much from a security stand point but because of the jarring differences in social and cultural norms compared to our own. I know the left loves to idealize the melting pot but in several countries they're now discovering that islamic values don't necessarily mesh with our own and this can actually help create more sources of racism and conflict than it alleviates.

What is wrong with how they've handled Deus Ex? Human Revolution and Mankind Divided had some story issues but other than that were excellent games. I think my only real rub with them is the constant loads between areas due to console limitations.

When six convenient plot points happen over three films, people tend to be forgiving of that. When six convenient plot happen in a single film, people tend to say "WTF???"

That's exactly it. I don't mind these things in small doses but there was just too much of it in one shot. This thread has gone into madness as most SW chat tends to but I feel like this point has been totally missed or ignored. Where you and I digress is all of the ANH vs TFA stuff. It's not so much about what ANH does better for me, its about what TFA does wrong. There is a lot of stuff is gets right and I disagree about Finn acting out of character, the whole stage was set for his character to change right from the beginning. That said there is a ton of weird transitions and the whole Rey character just bugs me due to the writing deficiencies.

Anyways I agree with Mr Tact, you guys should just be mature and drop it. Not you JD but RM and the rest.

I don't think TFA is bad, I think Rey is a bad protagonist due to the shoddy writing and overuse of convenient plot elements in relation to her character. People defend this by comparing her to Luke but I don't find any merit in that, Luke's convenient plot elements develop over 3 films and so the character "journey" is more believable. I'm not going to get into weird line by line direct comparisons between them, to me Rey is simply too competent at everything, too soon. I've rewatched Star Wars and never really had the same issue. In TFA it bothered me right from the beginning. Perhaps that's a part of my nostalgia but I doubt it, I don't really revere things anymore, I'm very critical even of things I adore. I also find the actress fairly wooden in several scenes but that's neither here nor there, with the sheer amount of green screening in a production like that it has to be tough for actors these days.

In terms of the overall movie, I think TFA is simply a bit of a mess and an average film due to its necessary fan service. I understand why they had to do it but it doesn't make me appreciate the film more and I would argue it muddies things quite a bit.

Really iffy about this, DA:I hit a lot of sour notes for me. The shallow "side" activities and blandness to its cities. The sidequests themselves were very repetitive and poorly designed collectathons. The main quest and some of the companion stuff was what redeemed it for me. Overall it was enjoyable but its flaws were definitely glaring. I hope that they learned something from it and didn't just make DA:I in space as a few of the trailers seem to indicate.

We are on a gaming site, specifically a PC gaming site. People care about Windows. They don't want Windows to turn into iOS or something similar. That's why you are seeing what you percieve to be double standards. It's as simple as that, and its not weird nor bizarre that you are seeing that here. Go to an Apple forum. Im sure that no one there cares about any of this. Why should they?

What a rude, shitty response due to your complete lack of a rebuttal. Windows has always had built in utilities and many of them do not feature convenient uninstallation procedures but all of them are removable outside of core OS features. Nothing has changed and this is going back from Windows 3.1 to Windows 10.

Sorry your argument sucks and you need to lash out to over compensate. Perhaps next time you should remind yourself that we're on a PC gaming site and that its possible to solve your own issues. I thought PC gamers were all about adaptability, I know I am. Maybe you should take your own advice and go visit an Apple forum since you need everything provided for you. Zing dipstick!

Windows has always had a lot of tools built in and many of them do not have convenient uninstall GUIs. Why is this suddenly a big deal? The people who care about removing them can use a search engine for a few seconds and do so. No one else notices or cares.

The weird double standard with Microsoft products vs everything else is frankly bizarre.

What do you think the reason is why there are no conservatives willing or able to debate on here?

I think in the political threads a lot of people here brigade or just insult others continually until they leave. It's gotten especially bad the past few years and even I don't really feel welcome in these things despite a pretty thick skin. People have lost their patience and now its just a THEM VS US grinding game.

Get lost nin with your juvenile sniping, go hide behind ignore.

Agreed JD. I don't mind some fan service but it was such a boring retread. I hope now that they've shown hardcore fans that they respect the source material they can move onto more interesting things. I understand they really wanted butts in seats and had to pander to both the Star Wars diehards and the 18-34 female demo but this was still way too clumsily handled.

Rey as a protagonist just bores me to fucking tears. Anything the plot needs, she can instantly do with no real effort. People defend this by saying Luke was able to do the same but Luke had a huge amount of journey in his quest. Rey just fucking arrives at a solution in every situation and it makes it impossible to have believable stakes.
