Also, what was the last Zack Snyder joint in which dozens of people didn't die?

Snyder isn't even doing spectacle very well anymore, he's just really dragging that whole ship down. Batman v Superman was such a dreadful film on so many levels and a complete waste of the talent in it. DCEU in his eyes is just this dreary mess with half hearted dialogue and a bunch of disjointed plot threads that will be tied together by a big sky beam or something.

Also Aquaman is just fucking laughable. I mean I guess they had to take a shot after Marvel managed to somehow make money on Antman but jesus christ, Aquaman is like a running gag in terms of worst potential screen adaptation. Any time spent on him in Justice League is just wasting depth for the other characters IMO.

I just have to wonder how they could ever think its a good idea.

If you're going to put in things that affect balance, they shouldn't be sleazy as fuck. +20% fire rate should also have some sort of downside like +20% to damage taken. At least then there is some sort of tradeoff instead of "just pay to be objectively better". The quasi-gambling stuff is disgusting too.

Star Wars cosmetics would sell like hotcakes, there is zero need for any of this. It was just some shareholder dividend maximization bullshit. Greed for the sake of it.

Decided to pass on SWBF2. I'm not interested in multiplayer. Endless reviews all show one thing: the single-player campaign is very short. I'll wait until it's on sale or there's a cheap CD key. Hoping by the time the game is on sale I'll have an upgraded machine.

Most of the reviews I've read seemed to indicate the singleplayer campaign could barely be labeled as such. I would definitely wait til its real cheap if that's your focus.

Man the sexual harassment apocalypse continues. This time it's Al Franken.

Shit, that's a bummer. WTF, Al??? He does good work otherwise. Surprised it came so late in his career, as i mentioned before, I would have assumed there'd be skeletons there from when he worked at SNL.

Yeah apparently it happened back in 2006 but of course this is just the first accusation. These things tend to snowball so perhaps we'll see more from earlier years. He already apologized is the reason I'm treating it as a given BTW.

Al Franken though, man. That one really hurts, he was such a moralizing crusader and I have to admit I really believed he was above that kind of thing.

I'm always wishing I could have heard the planning discussions on products like this. The product is so bad you have to wonder why half the people at the meeting weren't saying, "WTF. One of the worst ideas I've heard in years."

It reminds me of a smartfridge prototype at CES awhile back. The marketing staff were trying their best to come up with features that would make it desirable. "You can always know whats in your fridge!". All you had to do to get this wonderful convenience was scan each item's UPC as it came or left the fridge hahah. Hope your produce is barcoded too.

Or you could just you know, open the damned fridge.

How dare people want to enjoy their luxury activity, ENTITLED MUCH?! People defending "grinding" ITT.

We just need the EA rep himself in here talking about what a sense of accomplishment it is to round things out. Or perhaps he already is.

If EA wants to ship freemium grindathons then fucking do that instead of charging $60 and coming up with a ridiculous currency/progression system.

I'm not surprised and it's well earned, they're literally monetizing annoyance.

You're right, its been a long time since I saw it. Regardless of the label I didn't enjoy it as much.

No. It should take more than 40 to "unlock everything". Don't like it, don't buy it, don't play it.

(not defending EA, defending the grind of games in general)

"I want everything NOW!" Screams what is wrong with our society.

Uh this isn't PULL URSELF UP BY UR BOOTSTRAPS shit. It's a god damn luxury activity that people are supposed to enjoy. Of course people shouldn't buy it. They should also voice their displeasure about it because they ultimately like the game but want this ridiculous crap changed.

If you really want to play the "back in the day" shit and interject your personal politics into this then go back to the days of yore where we played games without giant EXP bars and crates. It was still *gasp* fun and holy shit, companies still survived and made money too.

'The Thing' is one of my favorite John Carpenter films, and this is a great article/link.

I just watched it again the other day with a friend who had never seen it before. Still holds up amazingly well.

The 2011 (re)remake isn't bad per se but the introduction of a female character ruins a lot of the alpha male tension and paranoia which made Carpenters so excellent. It's serviceable but not really good.

This is a good one.

About 40h per hero, about 9 heroes are unlockable. 360 hours or ... just a few bucks, eh? This IS grind made to encourage buying those chars instead of playing the game to unlock them.

And this answer is the epitome of lying your customer in the face.

I'm playing the 10h trial right now and I've already unlocked a few heroes, not sure where you get those numbers.

Anyway, should heroes be easy to unlock? i think not

Why should it be difficult? They are already limited by other factors.

Also they're adjusting these upwards from 10,000 credits to 40,000 credits after release. That's just shitty anyway you slice it, purposely giving a false impression to reviewers and others.

This whole game feels like a F2P model with a full price tag. Ugh count me out. I hope others do the same.

Cool, but it doesn't diminish the fact that Borderlands 2 was one of the grindiest games ever. I really hope Randy doesn't forget his noble ethos when BL3 hits, otherwise I can easily see it getting lootboxed out the ass.

Haha yeah, some irony there when his whole game is basically that concept without real money...so far.

You say that jokingly (I assume) but I wouldn't be surprised if the general GOP voter's thoughts on the matter were something along the lines of, "That was more than 35 years ago. It is said and done, let's move on."

Absolutely not. I don't consider myself a "GOP voter" but a lot of my social and economical leanings make me vote for right of center candidates. I still want this guy gone. Just like Anthony Weiner, he is a sexual predator and while this might be stats barred (I have no idea), at the very least he needs to be out of power.
