So you just need a Raspberry Pi? apt-cache search tells me there are a couple of emulators so that won't be a problem. And then probably just get the usb adapter for the controller. Plus HDMI cable. Am I missing something?

You'll want a case and power supply for the pi board, but you can sometimes get those as sets. But generally if you buy the board itself, it doesn't include a power supply.

I can't say that I've ever really been a Bowie fan outside of being the Goblin King. His music has a strangely unique flow and sound to it which doesn't really do anything for me in most cases. It always makes me feel nostalgic to the 80s too even though I barely knew the 80s and his career started in the 60s.

It's all very strange but maybe that strangeness is what made him great.

He would totally reinvent himself every 5-10 years and go in a different direction. This sums it up a lot better than I can: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Bowie#Career

Once you break it down that way, it's easier to find what you might like, and what you're not wild about. I'm a big fan of 70s, 80s, and 00-2016 Bowie, but could never really get into 90s Bowie. And even in a given era, there were hits and misses. I once saw a list that said Reality was one of his worst albums, and it's one of my favorites.

If you really want to run the gamut, there was a 3 cd greatest hits collection called Nothing Has Changed a few years ago (before his last album) that gives tracks from each era.

ANYWAY...Happy Birthday to Frans, Bowie, and the others. Frans is in about the best company you could wish for.

Go diy with it. The emulation on the nes classic sucks.

I've had zero problems with mine. It even gets the framerate slowdowns in games like Mega Man 2 right. Plus, the CRT filter nails the look of early 90s gaming perfectly.

the emulator itself is missing different graphical and audio layers from the NES, resulting in poorer emulation than pretty much any NES emulator available. That said, if you're happy with it, that is what matters first and foremost. The issues with the missing elements will be a much larger problem for people adding other roms that heavily use those portions of the NES. Only a couple games that are packed in with the nes classic have issues with it.

I have a weird issue where audio cuts out on mine. Like every 4th note...really annoying. I think it's my soundbar (if I use the weak speakers on the TV, there's no issue), yet I can take the same rom and run it from my pc (to the same soundbar) and have zero drops in audio.

When they pulled some other Marvel related stuff from sale a while back, it's cause they lost the license. I wouldn't be surprised if whoever owns TMNT now yanked it from them, either because it reviewed so poorly or because it didn't hit a sales target.

I suspect it'll get renewed, like they did with Deadpool.

If Diablo III would have released in the state it's in now, it probably would have been a critical success and felt like a proper sequel to the Diablo lineage. Shame they fucked this up so bad, but nice they've acknowledged that with the continued updates since release.

Agreed. Ran through the update earlier. Not bad.

I apparently missed the cow pet (somehow)?

Still probably the best actual Alien franchise game in the last 10 years to me.

Oh, without a doubt. That game scares the shit out of me, to the point of having difficulty playing it...I wish the AI didn't cheat quite so much (and there's mods that can change that) but it also keeps the tension up.

Thanks for the mod tip, I might replay it now with the overpowered pistol, silent footsteps and the ALIEN.BML mod that makes it like playing a space station based Gone Home.

I've not tried it, but this is the one I heard about...

It's good to see some devs still be excited about selling a million copies.

Most of the dickwit publishers nowadays just grumble and frown when a game sells 6+ million.

Well, budgets, too. I'm sure Firewatch was a lot cheaper, comparatively.

I picked up a copy on ps4 for cheap over the holidays, so I did my part.

Unofficial fresh-start vanilla WOW server launches Saturday…

Hope blizz shuts them down quickly. The logic of "we'll do whatever we want with code that isn't ours" is baffling...

While it is nice to have an extended quiet weekend, it does seem like the lack of news in general (with everyone off) is a little maddening...

I'm sure we'll get back to the crazy and announcements in general pretty soon...

Congrats, how much is the Necromancer DLC for D3 going to be?

I got the d3 itch again last week. Necro can't come soon enough. Guess I'll finally try seasons at least once, once they come to the ps4 (season 10, I believe).

I never watched King Of The Hill, but apparently he worked on some of those, too.

IO9 was saying there was a job posting the other day, and inferring what they might be doing after Rebels. Scroll down to "Star Wars TV".

I love Rebels, but also understand it can't exactly go forever, especially with it's small shout outs in Rogue 1.
