Oooh, free Condemned....

I heard Binary Domain wasn't great per se, but for free I'll take it...

I don't know, I found Binary Domain to be a lot of fun. The action was decent and the storyline was fairly entertaining. It's worth giving a try.

Yeah, it looked neat, I just remember let's plays complaining about the tutorial was an hour long. I kept meaning to pick it up, and think I saw it in a humble bundle at least once, and never pulled the trigger. So I'll add it to the colossally large pile of steam games I need to play...

Gaga for Bowie. I think he'd have liked it.

His son apparently didn't care for it.

Yeah, but he didn't even appreciate the awesome name his dad gave him.

Touche!

There used to be (not sure if they're still there, or shut down, hopefully) a performer (believe it was a magic show) in Vegas who went by the name "Zowie Bowie".

i do have to wonder how much of shatner's recollections are sincere and how much is him rewriting his memory. i remember when george takei sent him an invitation to his wedding which shatner skipped, then publicly groused about not getting invited. apparently takei is used to this bullshit because he'd sent the invite certified.

That last paragraph does seem to be all about him (Shatner) and his feelings...

I have sympathy for the guy losing a friend, but historically Bill seems to have always been about Bill...

1998 was a good year... i was in my pre-teens playing Quake non-stop when i probably shouldn't have been

i remember everyone i know was talking about how good Battlezone was when it came out back then in '98

I feel ya. I was playing the best FPS (quake world), the best MMO (Asheron's call darktide beta), and crushing mates at Red Alert and BZ at lan parties in between quake stomping sessions.

RIP the golden age of gaming.

I'm a little disappointed with this announcement, i too was expecting a whole new game not a remaster. Oh well, still may give it a shot.

Starcraft that year as well. I remember stalking the local Computer City, hoping they put out their copies early (which they did not). And then having to choose which box to buy (each faction had a different box - think I went with Zerg, but not positive, no idea where it is now)!

My GOTY (and this is going to annoy Cutter) is Pillars of Eternity. Witcher 3 is incredibly fun, and the graphics and setting are absolutely amazing, but the combat is just not quite right on the money, although it's close. In PoE, I can just geek out, play at a slower pace, enjoy a deep story in a well-developed world, and play the math to optimize my party, while listening to their backstories. Very relaxing, although I admit not for everyone.

WOOT WOOT! I dropped $225 on that one (ks) and my only regret is not springing for a little extra and getting a signed copy.

Combat and movement were vastly improved in FO4. It now feels pretty close to a real shooter.

OK, that's a phrase I never want to hear associated with Fallout. Or Elder Scrolls.

Not sure why they would choose to associate their product (by name) with the previous game having such a (horrendous) legacy. Maybe attention? Maybe they don't know how bad it was over there?

And who keeps saying it's $70? It'll be $50 after the price hike. If they truly intend on offering more content I don't see how it's a big deal that they announce a price increase WELL in advance.

I'm guessing the people who have a shitty exchange rate.

I am thinking about opening up a 80s arcade here in Texas. Man, I miss the arcades and fighting games. How everyone got into the close matches; everyone knew each other. Flawless Victory, FATALITY! Bring it!

I was just telling a younger coworker about Games People Play, which was an arcade chain here in the midwest in the 80s.

Different world back then. And there was Gameworks in the 90s, that I'd always hit in Las Vegas. They actually had a local Quake setup, where multiple players could play at the same time. But I think they folded, too...

edit: Or not! Might have to check them out next time I'm out there...

Yeah, at one point I think someone discovered it was a branded version of the old kgen emulator (which was awesome), but maybe I'm thinking of another one...
