@ViRGE

You couldn't have said it better, that's why PC gaming has basically no future after 2008 besides MMOs(which I hate with a passion).

I think Valve is the future of gaming altogether.

I like how they created games that last years rather than the typical console game which lasts a few weeks.

Cevat really needs to shut the fuck up for his own sake. I will still be buying Crysis Warhead because I enjoyed Crysis very much.

I've said this once before and I will say it again, if you need to worry about people who won't buy your game, then you shouldn't be making games in the first place"

I would like to see some statistics to back that claim up too.

@the culture

Why is that bad? The whole point of mods is to custom fit your game to how you want.

Actually the shooting was really intense and I love the open world the game gives you. Not many games do that. Plus I love to switch up my playstyles with the nanosuit.

The whole game was amazing, as was Far Cry. I don't see how you can say Crysis sucked when it does alot more than the average FPS, including Half-Life. Yes, Half-Life is just as awesome.

If World of Warcraft is the future of PC gaming then I am done with it. On the other hand, if Crysis is the future than I am totally cool with that because Crysis was awesome.

Enough with the casual games, they suck. Carmack is really afraid to evolve for some reason.

Dude, even if Call of Duty is still on the Top 10 for the NPD, it's numbers are jarringly low compared to consoles.

Do you know how may PC developers have gone out of business over the past 15 years?

I'll make a small list:
Troika Games, Interplay, Ion Storm, Iron Lore, Black Isle Studios. That's just a few of the huge list. All of these developers made critically acclaimed PC games, yet they are all defunct. I wonder why...

Consoles have piracy, yet they aren't nearly enough to affect anything, and that's why consoles are thriving while PC gaming is singing it's swans songs. Seriously, after 2008, the future for PC games is really grim.

Seriously, how much more naive and blind to do you have to be that piracy affects sales. Stop kidding yourselves and open your fucking eyes. I could post hundreds of links like this, and here's the developers Iron Lore final statement before shutting down. Don't give me that supply and demand BS. Why do you think GTAIV will never make it to PC? Why do you think Metal Gear Solid is no longer ported to PC? Why do you think that a majority of franchises that started off on PC are on consoles now? Even Bioshock sold 6 times as many on 360.

Seriously people fucking pirated a preview version of Assassin's Creed and bitched that they couldn't get it to work. And that's not even a small fraction of the community, that shit was everywhere. A guarentee every game out on the PC, the pirated copies compared to the sold copies is like 10 to 1. There is no justification to piracy but people do it anyways and developers are sick and tired of it. Either you pay for the game or you don't get the game at all.

Here is some more articles on how piracy is killing PC gaming.

PC gaming in general is a thing of the past, thought I still play Valve games on my PC I play everything else on consoles.

The absurd system requirements for some games are completely insane, when a $400 console can the run the game at nearly the same graphics. Most developers have to wait +6 months to port a game to PC just because of the piracy.

Anyone who thinks that piracy isn't affecting PC gaming is only kidding themselves. Hell even Valve is making game for consoles now.

I am not saying PC games don't sell, it's just the console to PC sales ratio is astounding with consoles of course being the higher. All my PC gaming friends pirate their games, and I read somewhere that 87% of PC games are pirated.

http://www.incrysis.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=559 - Crysis Trilogy.

http://www.actiontrip.com/rei/comments_news.phtml?id=043008_2 - No more PC only due to piracy

http://www.destructoid.com/crytek-crysis-warhead-our-last-exclusive-pc-game-ports-will-be-unique-89716.phtml - Crysis Warhead is last PC game, ditching the trilogy as originally planned.

Face it people, piracy is killing PC gaming, and I don't blame developers for avoiding PC like the plague.

Wow, 2 developers who have moderate success on PC.

I can make a big list of PC only developers who have shutdown. Even Crytek isn't finishing the Crysis trilogy due to piracy.

I'm surprised developers still make games for PC at all. What's the point if everyone just downloads your game for free? The only thing that can survive on PC is MMOs, since they require subscription fees. No wonder PC gaming has no future. The piracy is completely out of control.

If I was a game developer, I would not even consider PC as an option.
