I read on a few places that SR2 will not be using Starforce in North America. That may not be correct, but it has been posted about on a few forums.

7. Peeps and not suing Feb 13, 2006, 16:20  CrushBug

If you think that this is the first thing with the red cross and video games in the last 15 years, you would be very wrong.

They are NOT suing, they are notifying the game companies. Nowhere does it say that there have been lawsuits filed. Ceist and Desist orders are pretty easy to write.

The Red Cross is only supposed to be used in specific situations as outlined by international law and supported by major governments (US and Canada included) and this has NOTHING to do with trademarks or lawsuits.

2. Re: Canadian Red Cross... Feb 13, 2006, 14:12  CrushBug

Yeah, have to agree with you there. And its important to remember that its not just the Canadian Red Cross, but that the American Red Cross has been doing it as well and for many years.

And its NEVER been about trademarks, because you cannot trademark the red cross in Canada or the US, because this is covered under international law and the Geneva Convention.

You are only supposed to use it for the specific purposes outlined there and nothing else. Its pretty simple.

If you think that this is the first time in the last 2 years that a video game has been asked to stop using the Red Cross symbol, you would be mistaken.

http://www.icrc.org/Web/eng/siteeng0.nsf/html/5KZE8S?OpenDocument

Its covered under international law and this has nothing to do with Trademarks or Copyright. The Red Cross has a solid case AND I credit the guy for talking about it first, not just tossing lawyers around and filing lawsuits.

In the US, its a Federal crime to use the Red Cross logo except for the use that was spelled out in the above link.

14. Wow, late news Dec 20, 2005, 19:07  CrushBug

Heh, its wierd to read about this, considering that its been out for about a month now. It also includes the first 3 Premium Modules that we sell from the BioWare Store with the ability to play them off line.

Other names we threw around at Atari marketing - just append "Edition" to the end of it:

Adamantium
Depeted Uranium
Atmospherium
Mithril
Quantum Singularity
OMFGLTBTLB (you figure it out)

He is now ceo of Bioware
Ray and Greg are still Joint CEOs of BioWare.

We are not going to be changing the way we make games. Quality is the first priority and this is going to be reflected in us going forward and making "event games" - games that are tied to their release event, not to any fiscal quarter or some such.

how about some really good support for multi-monitors? I always thought that RPGs would work really well designed with dual monitors in mind.
That is something that we are definately interested in. Most of us at BioWare develop under 2 monitors and I would LOVE to be able to game that way.

Interesting - before you mentioned it I hadn't even heard of the game.
That is not suprising. We don't have a publisher for it yet and are still early on in it. You can imagine that there will be more info about it once we secure a publisher.

One other question Derek, how many people are on the Live Team?
12.
Thanks for the update, but still feel (in no other better way to explain it) that PC Gamers are getting nerfed over the console market.
A fair statement and your observations about the Live Team and NWN are correct... but you ain't seen nothing yet!

11. We still make PC games Nov 3, 2005, 11:55  CrushBug

We still make PC games.

Dragon Age is our upcoming PC RPG (with no console plans for it at all). http://www.bioware.com/games/dragon_age/

I am the Technical Producer on the BioWare Live Team, and we on the Live Team deal strictly with PC issues. Been doing it for about 4 years now. I don't own any type of console and am as commited to PC gaming as BioWare is.

Stay tuned...

9. Are you actually playing EQ1? Sep 14, 2005, 16:42  CrushBug

I guess, when it comes to comments about expansion packs for an existing game, I would like the poster to state whether or not they play the game. I am just curious how many who have commented in this thread are still playing EQ1.
