I picked up DI after the 2nd patch. I had a CTD or two and only played SP but enjoyed finishing it.
The throwing was a wonky throwback to Resident Evil but all the other mechanics worked fine for me.
That said, USD $9.99 for survival mode doesn't ring the bell for me.

Short update:
I invested another 20 minutes in getting past the GFWL crash that started this afternoon.
I had to disable 1 of my hardware fire walls- that sucks but OK. I don't have to do that for Steam or even Origin.
DX9 lighting looks like crap vs. DX 11. I'm sorry but it's the unvarnished truth.
Rocksteady says a fix is inbound. I really look forward to it.

Well, the wiki I linked to off of the official B:AC forums indicates I should:
1. Disable 2 of my 4 cores manually every time I start the game.
2. Disable DX11 entirely.
3. Disable my security software
...at a minimum; and the crashes I have had now demand that I wipe and re-install GFWL.
Or I could watch Conan the Barbarian in HD, not worry about it and enjoy B:AC in DX11 glory later after the problems are fixed for me.
I got it on that Nvidia promo deal anyhow.
Crazy guy: it's not worth it. Take care.

Sound to me just as likely to be graphic card driver problems? Utterly, utterly busted.
Having DX11 drivers that aren't shit would help but not solve all of B:AC's problems.
I'm hanging it up until a good patch- back to BF3.

BF aimbots are particularly brutal. Don't bother with "justice kills"- they don't care, you're just temporarily interrupting their points harvest.
Take a screen cap of their astronomical score near the end of a round and send it to DICE- that's the closest to justice you'll get.
Funny side story- the Sig pistol in the Counter-Strike betas had the odd property of being 100% accurate. If I needed some seed cash I would get one and multi-headshot a few folks who didn't take the little black pistol seriously. I got accused of cheating many times with that gun. |

Points are a lot easier to rack up than in BF2 or even BC2. Getting all the mid-level stuff that actually changes play mechanics isn't too hard.
All the "high-level" stuff just looks like bling anyway. |

Because most of them seemed to say melee sucked and controlled like guns, in that if you weren't pointing perfectly your baseball bat would oddly whiff. OT but many reviewers also said there was almost no gunplay in DI because they didn't even bother to get halfway through before writing their reviews.
There's one escort scenario in DI where you're running down a hill and fast zombies are chasing your buddy and you're alternatively sprinting and hacking off heads. It was a rush and felt just fine to me. |

What games do have model damage, by the way? I can't think of many. Just alive, not alive or gibbed. We haven't come a very long way from that. Die By The Sword and SoF, sure, and a few games had pain skins, but that's about it. Amazing AI? How about "not comatose AI" for starters?
Far Cry 2 had behavioral model damage- injured enemies, OMG I'M ON FIRE, etc. That's an old game now.
Dead Island has fire-damaged animated models.
Ghost Recon's last couple of entrees, Fallout New Vegas.
This is nothing new.
Skyrim barely has rag dolls.
I'm calling it: graphics-mod Oblivion with even fewer RPG elements.
Let's see if I'm wrong.

No model damage, no dismemberment even. One AI didn't even move when its buddy got arrowed right in front of it.
Pass.
This game is facing unrealistic expectations. It strikes me as odd that you see three vocal opinions from gamers: 1) "It better run on my hardware." 2) "Consoles have kept us back and games haven't advanced enough" but then 3) "This compromises perfection in some areas to be a broader, wider game. That's unacceptable. I want it to look and feel like real life. Now. On my AMD processor." 1. Nothing you listed has much to do with my complaints.
2. All of the things I complained about have been done just fine on consoles.
If I had speculate on why Skyrim seems so unimpressive I would use terms like "punt" and "popular IP booty call". |

This is hardly what I`d call a solution. The real solution would be an updated nVidia driver for BF 3.
And the next time I see anything bout BF 3 advertized, I hope it is to tell us the devs released a patch update, OR nVidia just released a true BF 3 optimized driver. I just had to revert to the 285.3x beta to get BF3 to not crash during map changes- I'm running DX11.
Nvidia really dropped the ball here. They had a whole year to prepare for a AAA DX11 release. I hope they don't screw up Batman AC too.

I dunno, 1 igla rocket sent a cobra down in flames yesterday for me (on normal). I was doing that while a buddy was manning the fixed AT missile at the antenna, with a couple more friends we held off multiple ground vehicles and a cobra with just infantry.
I've also knocked down a couple of helicopters as a tank machine gunner.
Tactics, tactics, tactics...
I might complain that the pilots getting a computer launch warning from an IR missile is BS- in reality only active emitters (radar, lasers) set off automated warnings. An IR-sensing (passive) guidance system doesn't set off anything except maybe the pilot seeing the smoke trail. |

I shoulder-fired-SAM killed my first helicopter today.
It was quite satisfying.
The game is getting better. The more I read the more it looks like DICE's biggest error was failure to design around all the recent Windows failsafe "features".
Nvidia/AMD did a worse job of supporting the game than DICE did in developing it.
Heck, if not for EA/Origin I'd say it was the best BF release ever.

I'm glad to see this- even if Origin is still required. If EA started building a tall wall between Origin and other market places that would be a big step back for competition and for consumers.
I agree though that Origin sucks right now. My DVD copy wouldn't install either- I had to plug the code into Origin and wait all day for the D/L. Pretty stupid for EA- they had to pay for the physical copy AND for the bandwidth for the DL.

The one thing a PC player can't do is go to a Redbox and rent MW3 for $2.00/night that goes to Redbox instead of Activision.
Selling MW3 on a console not only means paying Valve for DRM it also means paying MS or Sony royalties as well.
And now with digital content delivery on PCs the margins are certainly in favor of PC sales.

I've been swatting helicopters with the tank MG. Helicopter pilots will either have to move fast or learn to stand off, which is cool.
The fixed wings are comically slow though, as much as I hated them in BF2 I have to admit they are too nerfed now.
Come to think of it, I haven't been killed by an AC yet. |
