I was confused about this too, I dont remember THQ ever having copy protection in their game other than steamworks?

Granted, the only games I have played from that company was titan quest, frontlines and both dawn of war with its many addons..

Are we confusing this with Ubisoft's CIC DRM?

I didn't like Frontlines, but I am going to just forget about my dislike for Frontlines and give this game a try. The fact that they are putting this many features in for pc gamers deserves a preorder as far as I am concerned.

Amazon had the CE for about $65 at one time - which means if you preordered it early and didn't cancel it, you would get it at that price with their preorder price guarantee.

As a long-time DK fan, I'm very hopeful. I did preorder it, and am really interested.. a demo would be nice, but the price point is all right so I don't mind..

or the non-paid overtime

NO INDUSTRY HAS PAID OVERTIME FOR SALARIED WORKERS!

Christ, why is it only this board seems to think otherwise?
I work 60 hours a week, minimum, for my base salary. I don't get paid extra for those other 20 hours.

Then you need to learn how to fucking negotiate. I get paid for every hour that I work over 40. My CPA brother in law gets time off on a 1:1 basis for every hour worked over 40. The nurse I know at church gets paid for all her overtime.

YOUR situation does not equate to the rest of the world.

That said, the game industry never getting paid for all their work is nothing new. It's filled with morons who just bend over and take it, after which they whine about it and expect sympathy.

Creston

This. Evey job I've worked at in the USA, I either get paid overtime (time and a half, so for 40 hrs/wk i get paid 20/hr, anytime over that is 30/hr.) Or I get compensation time - every hour overtime i do, I get it back in vacation time. A lot of it is negotiation, and a lot of it is pointing at that board in the break room that basically says "slave labor is illegal in the USA."

A word from David Votypka "If they didn't focus soo much on bug fixes and actually focused on DLC then they wouldn't have to crunch time, they could issue 10 gigs of patches to download later for bug fixes. As a matter of fact, I think I'm going to layoff the testing team, why bother with testers when the general customer can find bugs faster and we patch it out later! Their number one focus should be on getting DLC developed and on the master disc before we send it to duplicators so we can charge 0-day DLC."

As bad as EA is, I'm thankful that Valve isn't in the hands of Bobby Cocktick.

Telltale isn't milking, their games are designed to be episodic by nature with cliffhangers.

I remember when I purchased the season pack for tales of monkey island, they were trying to get ideas together for episode 4, and this was about a month before they release episode 1. Judging from this, I would think they already got at least the first 2-3 episodes already made and in testing, which is why they are solid on dates for those, and not so solid on the finale.

They release on a monthly basis and the entire season (all 5 episodes) cost 25 bucks and it totals a full adventure game that bobby kotick would slap a $60 price tag on if he owned telltale.

I already preordered, I was more pleased with TOMI than the rest of their lineup, Telltale has really made a reputation for themselves.

Am I reading this wrong, or is it a case where people who legitimately bought it can no longer play it after Jan 15th 2011?

That sucks, if people believed in buying disc games then maybe someone can make up some fake servers or something rather than be in the mercy of whatever cheyene mountain decides with their purchases.

How to Fix Lucasarts in 5 easy steps:

1. Remake and release Maniac Mansion - similar to what was done with SOMI SE and LCR SE.

2. Abandon Force unleashed and focus your efforts on a sequel to Jedi Academy. Bring Raven in and have them make the game exactly like Jedi Academy but different missions and a plotline continuing from Jedi Academy, and make it something longer than 8 hours please.

3. Republic Commando Sequel - Make that the focus for the first half of the game as the commandos completley abandon order 626 and search for sev. Make the second half of the game that they become bounty hunters or something working for themselves since the jedis are nowhere to be found, and the empire is against them for not following orders. They have their hired missions, and they have the empire hunting them down everywhere.

4. Get in touch with Telltale games, make a sequel to Grim Fandango. New character dealing with corruption at the Department of Death years later. Keep the noir setting but make it take place years later - have him revisit some characters from the first game too while were at it. Though Grim ended on a high note without much room for a sequel, I trust Telltale games over Lucas to give it good service.

5. Take your time and release a new Xwing/Tie Fighter game. Make it exactly like oldskool Xwing/Tie Fighter in terms of complexity, controls, etc. Focus only on the pc for this game and port to console later if Ballmer offers you bribes. Use a company like aspyr to port your game for extra irony.

5 easy steps to keep Lucasarts afloat and relevant in the gamer community. No need to pay royalties to me, I'll be fine with this wishlist thanks.
