Pretty funny/shitty how the Meltdown bug was exposed right before CES for Intel. Might be a tough crowd.

I don't know that a class action suit will go anywhere. Intel's CPUs have had the ability to separate userland and kernel address spaces since Haswell (~2013); you might as well go after Microsoft and Linux for not using that feature as soon as it was available.

It's a hardware issue though which is present in processors as far back as the 45nm Core series and likely in to Tiger Lake. The only way Intel can address it is to physically create a new processor which doesn't have this vulnerability which is why the best they can do is band aid patch it to suffer varying degrees of performance which will likely be targeted in order to expose the exploit.

From what I understand, Intel was made aware of the issue on several occasions over the years that the exploit existed but continued to ignore it which is likely where the class action suits will focus.

Was poking around the AMD sub-reddit today and it guided me to some class action suites beginning to form against Intel from that sub-reddit. I don't know if they have the momentum to even see a settlement just yet but maybe they're just getting the ball rolling and hoping for something even more juicy to come from this.

Intel already lost at least $11 billion from their stock but I think that only accounts for something like 5% of the value so who knows where or how this will end.

Aaaaand you lost me.

Actually, after watching the video, it never really had me to begin with.

Man, Warframe used to be so good. The gameplay still is, but holy shit is it a grind unless you pay for platinum! I think I've got something like 1500 hours and hundreds of dollars in it. Still nowhere near having all the equipment and frames.

I lucked out and got a 75% off Platinum discount on log in and that pretty much helped me iron out a lot of what otherwise would have taken ages and had up until that point to get Mesa but once you dip in to the "end game" where Primes reside you're pretty much at the mercy of RNG while hoping you're not the only person who puts a relic up.

You know, I played Guild Wars 2 at launch and there was a place where you could endlessly farm once you reached the endgame. After say fifteen minutes you would get locked out for five from "good" drops on those enemies. It was very much still worth it (you could just take mini breaks, and I did) and they patched that out almost immediately. I was able to max out everything in a day or two, anyway.

I remember doing this on the Cursed Shore where you basically ran three or four well timed events and just made bank as well as an insane amount of whatever those points were called but I remember this was in the game long enough for me to literally grind a new Guardian from 1 to 80 after wracking up something like 120,000 points on my Thief over a couple of days so maybe we're thinking of different events.

I do know that it was eventually fixed though.

This game could have gone from excellent to great if the modding wasn't handicapped. I was excited to hear it would feature Steamworks but I can't even think of one mod which caught my attention since I bought the game on release day.

So much potential just pissed away.

Building a Detonate Dead Inquisitor. Gives me pretty strong nostalgia to my old Diablo 2 Amp + Corpse Explosion Necromancer. Once you drop Desecrate you're pretty much riding that meaty gore train to town especially with the Abyss mechanic where you can just chain it through the tear.

I think Intel is doing this so they have headroom to introduce “faster processors” by simply putting better TIM in.

That's the kind of benefit of a doubt I'd give them if we were still on Ivy Bridge processors but here we are six generations later and they use it exclusively from budget to HEDT. It's just Intel being shitty much like how they were in regards to their processors until Ryzen released and put a fire under their ass to actually do something other than refresh their series with single-digit performance increases.

Three movies wouldn't be enough to even scratch the old republic since it's spread across something like 25 thousand years so I'm not that upset even though I'd love to see it get re-incorporated in to the official canon.

As of now I think the Mandalorians are the only thing which are canon from that era and only barely.

Never shopped at their retail outlets but if it was anything like their online platform then I'm not that upset. Awful pricing and dodgy "free" shipping deals put them waaaaay down my list when it came to shopping for components.

What's hilarious is how their sister site, DirectCanada, was better in nearly every way while still using the NCIX infrastructure from warehouse to payment processing to shipping.

Even if they cleaned up this mess they're still sitting at a 72% metacritic score which is pretty damning for a triiiiple AAAAAA title. The user scores are typical but I don't think I've ever seen it go below 1 for any other game.

Another record, maybe?

I think it's pretty ridiculous how the police expect someone to fully comply with their orders and act cool while there's a dog chomping down on their leg. Once the person goes down wouldn't it be in the best interest of everyone to have it let go and use other measures for compliance since the threat of escape is neutralized?

I'm fairly certain the Netherlands are investigating it as well.
