Later on in the game as your powers grow you grind powerlines and rails like in SSX. You use gliding skills to loft from building to building. It gets very Mirror's Edge but in open play. The feeling I get when I play it is like that first time you walked in to the arcade and saw Strider. Nothing else like it, nothing since then either. inFAMOUS is easily game of the year for me. It will be very, very hard to beat.

I get console games for consoles. It's subjective. If I was a still a big mod player I would do PC for sure. I bet the mods for this game, if possible, will be pretty cool. I just watched 4-5 trailers. The voice acting is kind of flat, buildings kind of boxy, and everything does look a little dated. But it has the morphing, zombie, helicopters and guns thing going for it. Day 1 for me still.

I finished inFAMOUS as good and playing it again as Evil this time. A good 30 hours of play, much more to platinum trophy (60+). I have prototype preordered and getting it day 1. So I will let you guys know what I think when I get it. Hoping it kicks ass.

I almost posted 6 months ago the idea of painting roofs white since snow reflects harmful rays and ocean water absorbs them. But then I got to thinking just how tiny the total surface area of people's roofs are when combined, then compared to somehting like "just" Alaska, much less the polar regions. So I blew off posting it. Seemed like way too little, with way too much fuss with half the people doing it and other other half not. It would be interesting to see what the total estimated surface area is of every building in the world.

I saw this on another site yesterday and pretty much posted this appears to be a port of DoW2 assets with different content. So looks like everyone is thinking the same there. Glad I got a PS3 and didn't buy dow2 on Steam. Now when Total War gets ported...

GTA4 was a horrid game compared to it's previous games. While I find exclusive DLC to be questionable business practices, I am not missing it, nor do I plan on buying anything Rockstar in the future.

huh, i just thought the network at work was slow yesterday.

It's been having issues since last week. Fri and Sat was the most noticable for me.

Every time I ran in to this issue it was when I was posting on the consolidation threads. I would post a message (would work) then during a return to the thread, or a refresh, it would hang.

Another good article about why SSD is not ready for prime time. It's a year or two off still, save your money.

I think inFAMOUS and Prototype will play very different.

inFAMOUS has that Prince of Persia rural climber thing going for it with that Star Wars force power type feel. With grinding cables and such like a skate board game (jet pack power later I think). There is a lite cover system too. I just finished the first 1/3rd of the game and still sticking with it. The missions are varied but of a few types do get a little redundant. I am hoping the next area I am going to now has new enemies and new mission types. The story has been good so far and powering up my character has been rewarding. I do see myself contining to play "evil" as soon as I am done with "good".

I see Prototype as more of a Mercenaries 2 + Crackdown feel to game play. I think it's going to be more straight FPS shooter type system but in 3rd person, with some stealth elements. Very fast paced with wall running and a whole different set of brute force. At least, that's what I gather from hands on previews.

Either way, I think both are worthy of a buy so far.

PS3 does 1080p now when software supports. 40 gig PS3 $300 not $499. Who wants streamed crap when you get a Blu-Ray?

Playing inFAMOUS now, picking up Cross Edge tomorrow. On the 2nd Fuel and Red Faction. Come the 9th it will be time for Prototype. 16th is Ghostbusters (may bargain bin). 23rd is Overlord 2, Transformers 2 (may bargain bin), and Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires (which will dominate my time for 30 days at least). The 29th Fight Night Round 4 and the 30th is Call of Jaurez: Bound in Blood (this looks really good). That's some serious releases for June (there were more but only these interest me).

There are like 10 PS3 games released in July, but only 2 interest me, NCAA Football and Wolfenstein (which is good, will give time to play all the June stuff).

August is slim with Madden and a few others.

September to 2010 is insane with 57 new games! Some may get pushed in to 2010 but that's a ton of games! Little over 14 games a month average during that time as dates look right now.

I would wait for E3 to hear what is announced before making a major purchase. If I were buying a PS3 from scratch and had to buy it today, I would get the 40 gig with the smallest chips architecture and slap a 500 gig HD in it. Lower failure percentage on components, much lower power use, and they have gotten better at keeping stuff cool with a lot less vents (better Blu-ray drive set up too).

PS3 is where it's at for atleast 6 months, let me know when non port PC game comes out that's worth getting, and when Xbox delievers something I am not already getting on PS3. I won't sit around bored.

PS3 40gig and Xbox elite cost about the same now. Toss on a $50 HD and you get 2x-3x the HD space as an Elite. Loading times while playing PS3 are waaaay faster than 360 (across the board). Some games did have an install, now days some still do but it's a couple hundred meg to one gig, opposed to 5 gig. In a way I liked the 5 gig installs as it really speeded the games up even faster (as opposed to 15-20 gig installs on a whole game like Xbox). Besides installing 1 time on a super size HD is not an issue and it can sit there forever (whereas you do that with 7 large Xbox games and you are starting to run out of space).

On my Xbox I have loaded to hard drive several huge games (it made a noticable difference on TLR and that's it, even had to switch disks on multi disk games), including Battlestations Pacific. It didn't seem to make any difference, very long wait times. Now there may be some games that really do take advantage of it like TLR, but very few I have tried actually benefited much.

As for the PSN marketplace, they revised that 4-5 months ago. It's very easy to navigate now. You can go right to whatever you are looking for. No Mi's or avatars, straight to what you need. Could it be even better? Always. But it works fine now. I like how Xbox has screens and better descriptions and PSN is lacking in that, but for buying stuff or downloading content it's a breeze.

PS3 games and Xbox games pretty much cost the same from retailer to retailer from what I have seen since the industry price fixes a good portion of games at $59.99.

I would like to see both consoles have a force vsync option. They need it.

These are ancient memories in the video game business. What comes out today? Tomarrow? My point is (owning an 2 Xbox machines myself) is that I would like to see some stuff I can't get on a PS3 to validate ownership of the machines. Battlestations Pacific was great stuff. Need more.

If Xbox can put together a super machine (and learn how to bake/solder hardware), I will be very much backing them too. The reason I like PS3 so much is that the games are unique, and if you look at the link in my sig, you can figure out pretty much buying a 20-40 gig PS3, picking up a sata 2.5 500gb HD (I reccomend the WD Scorpio blue) and making a pretty sweet system. It is incredibly easy to install. 5 screws and you are in and out. You can even go farther upgrade thermal paste over time, swap BD reader lasers. It is just user friendly that way. I don't feel it's inferior, or feel inferior myself, it's called spreading the facts to people that buy in to the marketing spin from MS and the paid mercs they use to distort perceptions.

Ultimately I prefer the computer honestly, but the software just isn't rolling in, or are really bad ports, and what does is control freak DRM and what not. If and when that's over my gaming will be spread evenly. Oh and, Fable 2 was good stuff. If a game is a console port, I 9 times out of 10 rather play it on a console.

And so is the technology behind Onlive. Making the super media affordable, portable, and recordable with constistancy is what will make it a good idea for big labs, piss poor for consumers (I read the information as well). Tying this to another Xbox is what equates to vaporware.

You are right about the Xbox needign something, new games that aren't cross platform.

@RCH - Same here. I am hoping the 50% of powers we didn't get to see make the game stay fresh. I can see how flinging lightning might get a little old. But so far it's not boring. I hope to be just as excited about Prototype.
