Red Faction is probably more like 30 hours or more of gameplay now that I have seen 1/3rd of the game.

A trend of die, load, drive, die, load, drive is developing...

You will die a lot in this game no matter how good you are at FPS. The AI spawns more and more things on you and it's overwhelming, especially as you run out of ammo.

Only buildings are destructible, unlike the 2nd one where you could virtually tunnel with rockets. But this is still impressive at times.

The crazy car chases that occur every once in awhile are pretty amazing. 10 cars chasing after you with mayhem everywhere.

Lots of power ups and new gear. Still looking for a replacement for the stock automatic rifle. Am using the tossed bombs and rocket launcher as other weapons. Static gun pretty weak. Power ups for rocket launcher kind of blah (excepts extra ammo which doubles from 9 to 18 rockets).

There are really fun moments, and there are really annoying moments (like clearing 11 of 12 targets and having artillary fire destroy your last one by seemingly random chance and forcing you to load, drive, and do it all again hoping it works).

Hard to give this game anything more than an 8, but then I don't play much multiplayer anymore. I imagine it's pretty god stuff in the multiplayer modes.

I have been playing this while I was waiting for Red Faction. Got the DLC and I must say that added some fun (that xbow is pretty useful and that new truck has a pretty nasty mounted cannon). With all it's faults, I was enjoying it more with the new weapons. But what really stinks to me is how the weapons are forced in to slots. Why not let single player carry any 3 weapons? At least move sniper rifles to secondary weapons. The design as is, limits combinations and really makes it cookie cutter to the extreme. MP5/Thumper/Xbow then you go Sniper/Uzi/Xbow. Some good weapons missing too like P90.

I am convinced Xbox failed at E3 this year, kill the messenger if you wish... MS apparently wants to own your living room, games come as an afterthought.

I own extensive libraries in both machines (60+ 360 games) and was strongly for Xbox until 3 system failures, hours of bad customer service, horriblly unfair business policies (some are now changed), having to redownload tons of software over and over, obvious lack of vision for implementing a high capacity DVD drive, and now obvious failure to prioritze games as being important on a game console in comparison to competition.

I am fair and balanced when it comes to comparing what my experiences and opinions are, and I have never claimed otherwise. I have never had problems with 2 PS3 systems since launch. I can't speak of customer service as I have NEVER had to call them for ANYTHING on a library of 100+ PS3 and 100+ DLC items. According to posts I read, they are very easy to deal with. I can even use my DLC on 5 different PS3s if I wanted to unlike 1 machine per purchase on Xbox. All on a network that doesn't cost me a penny compared to the ridiculously priced Xbox Live.

But enough about where I am coming from, in my opinion you should be more upset with how Xbox is clearly failing to compete in order to bring games to market. Which owning 2 machines myself, is still a concern.

The best advice I can give someone tired of having very little to play on PC unless you want to continue to play the same old Steam games is to pick up a PS3 and inFAMOUS. It's my opinion, even if I have over time become very bias'd about PS3, it's because Sony has fing earned it through good service and support, a visible strong commitment to making sure the owners have good games to play, and providing a phenominal machine to it's customers at quite a loss to it's corporate bottom line (profitable now). On top of that, I have lived through a whole generation of a Sony dominated console market place, and in hindsight, it was the best era in console gaming.

If your only response to this is to run around like a child calling people names and labeling them invalid, then that's your choice. Keep misbehaving and acting foolish because you don't agree.*Shrug* Keep trying to demonize me because I continue to communicate a very expensive, and very informed point of view that isn't readily available to everyone. How dare I spend time and energy posting my opinions trying to give insight to owning both machines. Wow, how dare I form an educated opinion based on concrete use and experience with both machines and share that with anyone.

Enjoying Red Faction so far. The only quibblings I have is that the waypoint system often dead ends to a spot where it's more work to get to a higher level facility than if you just scouted it out yourself and NPCs tend to get stuck on terrain and walk in to traffic. Not big deals but annoying.

Death carries the penalty of respawning at the main base, and starting from scratch on any mission, including going back to the npc that gives the mission to begin with. Annoying, but I can deal with it.

Gravity is slow to execute on a buildings collapsing. I think this is intentional to allow for picking up resources, and clearing the demo zone. Kind of funny seeing a huge structure balancing on 1 tiny support, defying gravity, then finally collapsing.

The terrain can be a little annoying as well. Lots of uneven hills and obstacles that you have to spam jump to get over.

Another thing that is not so good is that the cross hair gets lost in the background easily. I have a hard time knowing where I am aiming at. I didn't see a way to change the color but I will dig a bit deeper and see. Probably easily fixed on a PC version regardless.

There are 6 sectors, all mini sandboxes that have multiple missions, challenges, and targets of opportunity. There are dynamic events that you can choose to participate in as well, with no penalty if you choose to walk away. There is also a GTA/SR2 threat level that starts summoning soldiers as you raise hell. Eventually they start roling up in gun vehicles and swarm you from all sides.

Looks like plenty of Single Player, at least 10-15 hours and many multiplayer game styles. May post more as I play later.

BTW Red Faction is pretty good. Very solid fun. Don't expect a top of the line shooter, but do expect a top of the line terrain destruction rampage.

@ The Half Elf - The reason they just showed everything is that they couldn't announce each title, there are just too many. 35 exclusives announced for this year. Compared to Xbox's 6, that's pretty self explanatory. PS3 will also play all of these (Dated to come out *before* next E3):

Anyways I think the case for why people who really enjoy gaming will want to buy a PS3 has been made. You will see this come to pass over the next years time. You will continue to see articles trying to down play this like "MS has digital edge over Sony" and people like Dade quoting it's a 3rd place console. But that is because for the first time in a long while, Xbox, and their exclusive fans are actually afraid of what they already know is coming. Back to playing Red Faction. Good E3 this year.

PS3 -They announced 35 system exclusives this year including:

Final Fantasy 14 Online - Was a huge surprise and looked good. Imagine it's a big grind.

Uncharted 2 looks great. Still packing it's most attractive feature... The charming, witty exchange between the main characters. Female voice by Claudia Black (Farscape, Stargate, Queen in Conan game).

God of War 3 - Seismic as expected.

MAG - wasn't as impressive as I wanted it to be, it works with 256 people but kinda underwhelming. Maybe with time it will be a little more fleshed out.

Demon's Soul - Hardcore ARPG

Heavy Rain - Adventure expirement like Shen Mu is my take on it.

DC Online - Comics MMO

Grand Turismo 5 - (800 cars) looks insane.

Agent - (Rockstar PS3 exclusive, not the SOE mmo)

Ratchet and Clank - SOSDD but it's all good.

Mod Nation Racers (meh Mario Kart with LBP customization)

The Last Guardian (Ico, Shadow of the Beast, spiritual sequal).

A slew of exclusive DLC games.

They announced the PS3 wand (you can use 2 like the nun chukkas). Which honestly looks like something I can live with since it will be eyetoy only and will force classification in the eyetoy catagory. I can only imagine the names this thing is going to get called.

They spent waaaay too much time on PSP. Sony announced PSP Go. They did commit to suporting UMD indeffinately and that the PSP 3000 is not going anywhere.

Sony spent too much time showcasing 3rd party content that is available on all platforms. They should have gotten honorable mentions since they were cross platform. Use that time for your crazy amount of exclusives!

Overall presentation was the most enjoyable with a lot of humor and taking all their technology leaks in stride.

I think I don't have to say a thing really. That's the kind of dedication to GAMES a GAME CONSOLE should be pursuing. This system is more than capable of speaking for itself at this point with 24 million PSN users and 90 pieces of PSN exclusive content. Good E3 for Sony.

This Nintendo stuff is painful to watch. Did she just say Fashionista? Did that girl really say, "I like the DS because...it's better than playing with myself."? Did Iwata really say "stimulation" followed by that lady saying "we have more stimulation"?

As I hear movie people speak, or other famous creative art form celebrities speak, or even critics of movies speak about video games, it's more than apparent, none of them have any real clue about games. What scares me is the attention and influence they can have due to success in something completely different. However, James Cameron get's a pass from me. He could actually do something special here. Will it be better than anything we have seen? Who knows. But I bet it's better than Boom Blox.

@Verno - Whatever dude. I just wrote a half page slam not too long ago how I thought Killzone 2 wasn't that good game play wise, but a good demo of the system. You can check my posts. After E3 the other day, feel free to consider me a PS3 Fanboy, doesn't matter what you think really.

I don't know what is eating you up in your personal life that the last month or so you have been agressively bashing people and not addressing topics. That you feel a need to bash whoever you think you can get away with doing it to. But whatever it is, I hope you work it out and you have my pity.

Edit: Oddly enough there was mention of a demo soon in this video too. Maybe it was just for E3 attendees.

Those Forza screens look a lot better than what I remember the game looked like when being played during the Xbox presentation. The ODST screens show exactly what I am talking about. Really nice looking player models (that we apparently have seen in 4+ games now) that outclass and make the environments look out of place, clean, boxy and simplified.

I really, truly hope PS3 does not announce yet another game killing motion controller. How many titles must die to mediocre novelties. SSX was butchered on the Wii. Same with Lair on PS3. I could dig and find many reviews about how the failure on the part of developers to make the controller functions work well ended up trashing a game. It's not evolution excepts for a very few simple games like Wii sports and knock offs, sword games, or specifically tailored games. For traditional games, it's a bad fad of retro neon, much like 3D movies (again, really...). It seems developers can't resist sticking some sort of compliance to these things in to the games that are fine just the way they are.

The point I am making in all of the posts about this E3 is pretty simple. Xbox is suppose to be a gaming console. It is the self proclaimed center of the console online universe. Instead of MS putting forth money to make some reasonably strong first party games, they went in to shennanigans mode, hired some questionable services (some useful), and expect Xbox owners to be satisfied with an average of 1 good first party game every 4 months. You lost, I lost, and they win as they spend money to try and dominate the home theatre, instead of providing kick ass games to the fans who have been loyal to them. If you are completely satisfied with this totally half assed attempt to make games, for a gaming console, especially since they and other conole makers are tearing up the PC industry to do it, then that's your choice. I however think it's entirely ridiculous, and if they do this now with competition, help us all if they actually do get in to a position to be in full control.

BTW, that link made fun of the console wars in general. Poking fun at your repeated attempts to label me in a way that fits comfortably in to your apparently black and white view of the world. You guys seem to be stuck on fanboyism. I openly criticize Sony for Home, PS3 Go, Qore, bad DNS issues with Time Warner, certain games and other things. The second opinions are expressed about Xbox, you two go in to personal attack mode (like children) and defend Xbox tooth and nail. I think the only fanboys on this forum are you two.

I still have 2 60 gb PS3s that have been played over 5 hours each per day. They are still going strong going on 3 years now. Between my brother and I, we have had to return 5 Xbox 360s (and these get very little play). I think that's a pretty good case for not trusting hardware from Xbox land.

I am on the same wavelength as eDave. The one thing I loved about SWG was well, everything about it's crafting system (especially resource aquisition). It was amazing, even the bad. It's the one thing I miss from SWG after leaving when they ruined it.

Which begs the question, what kind of a system will this game have and will it be as satisfying and deep as something like SWG/EVE.
