I picked it up on sale for about $20 a few months back and I have DEFINITELY gotten my money's worth. I too saw its reception at launch and was wary, but I have about 150 hours in it. Thanks quarantine.

As for inventory issues (and discussion of normal vs survival), playing normal mode made inventory management a lot easier for me, since you can carry larger stacks than you can in survival mode. It's less of a challenge given that you can recover your items after death, but otherwise seems about the same. As you progress and unlock more inventory slots, storage containers, and exocraft (where you can store items as well), inventory space becomes less of an issue.

If you can find NMS on sale, I'd highly recommend it if you like this sort of game. But don't go after it for the story

Sidenote: I scanned a plant earlier today, with a procedurally generated name of "Y. Washpuusae" and that name making me laugh for a good five minutes might have been worth the price of admission by itself. And yes I took a picture.

What's the controversy? The dual protagonists that you're forced to play as? The death of a popular character?

I think it's a combination of what you mentioned, but also SST: Naughty Dog purposefully mislead the public before release by swapping Joel in for other characters in trailers (Jesse, for example), making fans think he wasn't the one whose death Ellie was avenging. Some people are even claiming it's "false advertising" which is just absolutely absurd. I for one am glad they did that.

TLDR: Gamers are a ridiculous bunch at times. And you're right, death threats (against her children, no less?!) are never acceptable.

At least it's not as two-faced and full of shit as the statement from the actual NFL.

These kinds of adventure games really need a well written story. I never read much about them, I"m afraid that they may be cringeworthy and hard to believe? Is that the case? I

Personally, I thought Detroit: Become Human was great.

I'm also curious what state of EA this is in. Seems like it's probably getting close to being released.

I can't wait to play it, but I've been holding off. I didn't play the original Subnautica until release, and from what I've heard, that was probably the right call.

I don't know, given the replay value I feel like it's a great game at $60.

That's a good point. With the cast of characters, SD3 really did have a good amount of replay value.

Sorta makes me want to go back and play the English ROM translation of the Japanese SNES version.

I played a bit of the demo, and it looks pretty solid, but the voice acting in the Secret of Mana remake was rough (still finished it with voice acting turned off), and like you said, $60 is a hard sell.

Cool, I preordered because I'm an XCOM nut and this seems like a no-brainer for $10. Reviews seem pretty favorable outside of a few technical hiccups.

Yeah, I never preorder but I just did. For $10? Like you said no-brainer.

Hmmm, I was thinking of ordering a Switch. Possibly even this weekend.

Sounds like I might run into supply issues.

You mean the PC Franchise that came out on PC's first and then were later ported to consoles? Not exactly the same thing. If you can find some numbers on the last Final Fantasy game that finally came out with a Windows Version let me know.

Pretty sure Witcher 3 came out on PC, XB1 and PS4 on the same day.

It was the Switch "lite" version that came out later.

Almost...but damn, 62GB is a tall order for a 5 day free weekend. And I'm pretty sure I wouldn't end up buying it in order to make the download worth it.

I think I read that Playstation has one year of exclusivity, then other platforms. I'm not sure if that includes PC.

I checked out the demo. Graphically it's obviously very impressive, and the switch to more active, action-type combat was probably the right move. The menu systems from the original probably wouldn't fly today.

Voice acting was pretty good for the most part. Badger from Breaking Bad does the voice for Wedge in the opening, which makes me happy.

I'm not thrilled that they're breaking the game into [three?] installments though. I may pass on principle alone.
