I cannot BELIEVE that they are saying Valve is the creator of Counter-Strike and Team Fortress!

How can they get away with this?!!!!!!!!!

Crap. I know however that the intel integrated controller handles 1000 MB/sec. Hopefully it can make the leap to 1500 or so!

Thank you Creston! I cannot believe this bad news but thanks for telling me.

I think I will buy Intel. Now that Nvidia is out of the motherboard business it's full steam ahead for an Asus Intel chipset!

Woohoo!!!!!!!!!

No offense but are you sure going from 550 MB/sec to 1650 isn't worthwhile?

Also to be perfectly honest consolidating 3 drives' data into one "disk" is very useful.

Edit: If you have a 7 series mobo you can buy two Samsung 830 SSD's for $90 each (64 GB individually).

If your on a budget you can just buy one of these bad boys and get 500 MB/sec read speed and just under 160 MB/sec write. You can now install Steam games into different directories apparently so full "steam" ahead!

Indeed Blue, I am quite disappointed by this total lack of fortitude on your part. Your disgraceful inability to serve our needs during an emergency is the pinnacle of incompetence and ineptitude.

You should be ashamed of yourself. HOW DARE YOU?!?!

I just want to mention something. When messing with Steam like I said, you have to consider files that are in the root steamapps directory too, not just in the game's directory.

There is big data there sometimes (Valve games and mods).

Your right! I, however, am going to very much take 1650 MB/sec read speed with having to deal with copying games over to my backup HDD and reinstalling Steam (if applicable).

There's a way to copy games into Steam without having to re-download.

What you do is you delete everything except steam.exe and the steamapps folder. You then copy in correctly the game data you want into steamapps.

Then run Steam.exe, let it redownload the Steam core files, then you select the game you installed manually and select "verify game cache".

It will then verify the data, redownload any missing files, and you can run your game again without having to download the entire thing.

With this, you can backup games to an HDD that you don't currently need but might want in the future.

Note: it can take some time to verify the cache. For some reason, it will download some data (not much though) despite having copied everything.

If you have a faster connection than my .73 megabit DSL and a faster computer than this Athlon 64 X2 2.2 GHz, you probably won't experience any hassle.

Whoever was talking about minimal size on SSD's needs to rethink the situation.

There are 120 GB SSD's available at the local Fry's Electronics for $230 with a 550 MB/sec read, 500 MB write speed.

If you can get 3 of those running in a RAID-0 array, that's 360GB running at 1650 MB/sec read, 1500 MB write.

I think 360 GB is adequate unless you have a collection of downloaded movies in addition to games.

I'm quite sure you could have a 4'th SATA slot HDD of 500GB or more to back up anything you don't currently need.

I hope they think to have a feature on the mechs where the cockpit, if you will, is stabilized from the movement of the walking (no up and down movement inside the cockpit).

This is the future, after all...

I am hoping that one day iD Software will return. You know what's funny, if you increase the texture detail in the Doom 3 engine by 200%, it looks pretty fucking sweet.

It sure kicks the shit out of that piece of shit Call of Duty engine.

Dude COD is the same thing as these stupid sports titles they keep rehashing every year. It's the same old crap!

I am personally sick and tired of this old game engine they keep using. The graphics aren't very good for this day and age.

It's the same thing as the content they put on it!

EDIT: Why back in my day, most new titles came with brand new technology! God dammit!

SECOND EDIT: And for the record, improvement with the same hardware IS possible! Just look at Halo 2 and the new Mortal Kombat!

"There is nothing about treating the PC platform like second class, it's about taking the time to do it right. Also, why the fuck should the price be lower? "

Failing to release PC games on schedule with the rest of the releases is second class. Dedicating a minimal dev team to PC development is second class. Allowing third-party developers to port your flagship title so poorly that it isn't playable at all is beyond second class.

And $60 a game is too much anyway.

Well now that comment about piracy REALLY sums things up.

I never knew there was a strategy behind it: I thought it was pure revenge. I guess it's the same thing behind the lack of PC demos, though I find it strange that they would think a person who would buy the game without a demo will all of a sudden be pirating it due to playing a demo version.

They clearly think that if piracy isn't an issue, demos do nothing but help.

Anyway, I too am disappointed about the delay, but there's nothing we can do.

Resident Evil 4 LITERALLY WAS AN ABORTION. It was so unplayable that it BLOWS MY MIND that it even GOT OUT THE DOOR! HOW WAS IT POSSIBLE?!?!?!? (You could not aim the crosshair at all. There was a patch made by some random guy, but it still was "epic fail".)

RE5, on the other DIMENSION, was P E R F E C T. It was BEAUTIFUL. It felt like it was MADE for the PC.

I also like their engine tech. It's so unlike your typical Japanese developer < >.

I wonder if they included stuff from America's most lenient prison (where Madoff is) like random calls for kettle corn?

Or how about prison-guard fueled inmate black markets?

Can you install wireless jamming devices to prevent illegal cell phone use?

How about prison music concerts (those actually happened, right?)?

This bullshit about penalizing someone for a full infringement charge for every track of an album is total horseshit.

Busted for 1 track out of 13? 1/13'th the fine with a settlement option to minimize the attorneys' fees.

Hey Blue! I hope you get that X-ray. I know toes don't have the functionality of a finger, but believe me when I say you want those things taken care of.

Compare your toe to the others and try to compensate for any swelling and see if there's any difference in appearance.

If there is, you'll want that thing cracked back into place (doesn't hurt: they inject novocaine or something into you).

Besides, having a gimpy toe might be uncomfortable.

Btw, all you ever needed to get Crysis to run OK is a Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz, 2 GB of DDR2 800, and an 8800GT.

That enabled you to run in high detail at 1024x768 (face it guys, this 1080p native resolution thing is bullshit unless you can truly future-proof your rig).

Since I'm forced into 1024x768 due to a shitty monitor, no problems here!

Also, if you can overclock that "Crysis PC" (Crytek, in response to the performance complaints, put together this sub-$1000 system configuration as an example of what Crysis actually requires to perform reasonably) configuration to 3.2 GHz, you can actually run in DIRECTX9 mode a very high/high hybrid.

With full, very-high texture detail, of course.

Would you rather run shit quality at high resolution or near-awesome quality at a lower resolution (which happens to be JUST high enough to allow appreciable graphics)?

Perhaps a compromise between the two would be better, perhaps not.

I can tell you this though: having your Geforce 9800 GT die and being forced to use a Radeon X1600 Pro with Left 4 Dead 2 and ending up dropping ALL detail except full gore and the resolution to 640x480 and still getting unplayable frame rates and then finding out you gotta drop your sound card's sound quality to minimum to just run in 800x600 with jack shit except medium textures and full gore is bullshit.
