Im sooo looking forward to this. The Shadowlands PvP zone is something truly unique, a complete world where you can fight anyone and there is a REAL penalty for dying. (dropping a random Item)

More power to ya Blue. Cable is usually much better for downloading, but if you play a lot of games online you might consider another DSL company.

Kudos to Flagship for at least one success.

As for your "curious tastes", how did Blizzard's Starcraft success in S. Korea contribute to that company???

Ok Derek i re-read your posts again.
So we are essentialy in agreement then? I mean basicaly the only people who would do a Freespace sequel are indie developers.
I dont think this is a bad thing at all, I mean look at the success of "Sins of a Solar Empire".
Indie develpers are the future of PC gaming in my opinion. Most of the Big Publishers are moving in the direction of consoles anyway and this is only the begining, unless this so called "Gaming Alliance" manages to do anything and i doubt that very much.

I actually support their move, MMO's are subscription based, and if there isnt enough revenue coming in, there wont be no new content, no bug fixes, no expansions and finaly no game. Ultimately the ones who will suffer are the paying customers

IMHO Bobby Kotick.

Why don't they ever ask the questions that actual game players want to hear? Instead of questions that are pretty much fluff.
I used to think Kotick and Activision were cool. After the sale of the Mechwarrior licence to Microsoft, and now this merger with Blizzard im not so sure.

BHruic and JM you both missed my point, and I DID read the whole article from start to finish.
Read the Conclusion:

I quote:
NVIDIA GPU based video cards have no real-world gameplay differences between DX9 and DX10, so there is no reason not to run in DX10. AMD ATI GPU based video cards do suffer a performance penalty for using DX10. If you are running an NVIDA GPU based video card, continue to run in DX10, but if you are running an AMD ATI GPU based video card you might want to consider running in DX9 for the best Crysis experience.

We feel that HardOCP should not let AMD’s poor DX10 performance retard our testing. DX10 is the future whether we like it or not, and we want to encourage game developers to continue to push the envelope and provide a good gaming experience. We also want to encourage NVIDIA and AMD to continue to develop and mature their DX10 drivers in both single and multi-GPU configurations for games.

But that wasn't the point of my post. The point is that they tested DX9 vs DX10 on Vista. Which isnt realistic, DX10 is Vista ONLY! They should have tested DX10 and DX9 performance under VISTA vs DX9 in XP!

Sure Space Sims are a Niche market, but isnt the whole PC Gaming scene being turned into a Niche market anyway, with all the consolitis going on and and shit? (Disregarding MMO games anyway)

Derek you are contradicting yourself, first you say that Space SIMS are dead. Then you say that you made 11 sucessfull space sims that actually made money WTF?!

Ok sure, so you didnt get the licence to do Freespace3
and mainstream publishers dont want to go near it.
That doesnt mean that some other Indie developer with a small dedicated team couldnt make a decent sequel. Especially considering how digital distribution is only making bigger and bigger strides and since most mainstream publishers are switching to consoles, there is a bit of a vacuum being left that small developers/publishers are only too happy to fill.

P.S. Edit:
The absurdity of calling Space Sims, SIMS is very fucking absurd! From a marketing perspective the word SIMULATION is going to put a lot of potential buyers off, especially considering that most of those games really dont really require a 500 page manual to get to grips with. LOL Space SIMS, as if those space ships REALLY existed. Now if someone made a Space Shuttle SIM that would be another matter.

Did they even do a PC version of GTA3?

Somehow with the current trend of most mainstream developers shifting their attention to consoles, I SERIOUSLY doubt this game will EVER be released on the PC.

Hope im wrong, but something makes me think im not about this one.....

The OS they tested on was Vista 64 bit. Sure DX10 drivers improved quite a bit, and now DX10 performs on equal footing with DX9 in most cases, but this is DX9 on Vista.
Let me repeat that: DX9 ON VISTA!

I couldn't find a single review that checks the difference between the performance on WinXP machines vs Vista. The true test of DX9 vs DX10 so to speak

I wish they could, but in all probability they probably sold most of their IPs
They could definitely do a deal with Valve and put some of their stuff on Steam. That would be awesome! Not to mention profitable.

Another DX10 and Vista rocks in Crysis suckass fanboi review!

LoL they tested DX9 vs DX10 on a Vista 64 bit machine. And found there is very little difference in performance. Imagine that! LOL!

How bout they test Win XP vs Vista performance for a change? Whats that? No takers?

Ive been playing online FPS games since Quakeworld, and COD4 is the most fun Ive had since, well since Quakeworld!
Sure its not really realistic, or even close to it i guess
but its FUN! FUN!
I dont care if its a console port, its a brilliant game that takes a lot of patience to get used to, and skill (remember SKILL from ages ago) to play well.
