Blaming Piracy for the twilight of PC Gaming is just plain ignorant. If you really think that EA, Activision, Vivendi etc. etc. are moving to consoles because of pirates you are very, very uninformed.
First of all PC Gaming is not dead, the big publishers are moving to consoles because thats where the MONEY IS! Its as simple as that. With games selling millions on consoles vs a few hundred thousand on the PC its obvious where more money is to be made. The sheer install base, and the casual orientation of the console market and the fact that consoles are used exclusively for gaming is what is drawing the big publishers.
Meanwhile we have independent developers/publishers that are only too happy to fill the vacuum that are developing some quite cool games for the PC that sell really well.
Sure their games get pirated like all the rest as well, but they dont whine about it.
Im not saying piracy is right, or the way to go. Im not saying that they dont affect the sales of a game because they do, Im just saying that their effect is overexagarated
by the industry. If you don't believe me go to Stardocks page and see what they have to say about file-sharing and pirating in general.
I have a nifty blue line!
