Yeah Steam is really unfair to AUS players (I would imagine that UK and Canada users have similar problems) where the currency is converted to their own equivalent but in the process prices go up somehow.

Jesus Christ all this talk of Oblivion and Morrowind makes me want to play those games again I never really got to finishing either of them, although I really enjoyed them quite a lot, hated the level/monster/loot scaling system in Oblivion, but still dug the game very much. Didn't finish it basically cos I never really found the time to play it all the way through. A friend of mine finished Morrowind quite a bit before I did and managed to spoil the ending for me, so I did all the major side quests, but never got the urge to climb that mountain of doom.

Even though I enjoyed both games, that doesn't make me a fanboy of Bethesda, I still think it's highly probable that Fallout 3 will suck monkey balls. The humour part worries me the most. But I will give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

I bought a 8800GT 512MB, cheap, this monday just for this game. Hope it's worth it. Crysis runs a little smoother, and looks a little better but not much (went from a R1950Pro to this) CoD4's FPS skyrocketed though.

I never said it wasn't a factor, Im just saying that it is not the main reason why publishers are shifting to consoles. Pirating has been with us since day 1. Saying it is directly to blame for the decline of PC Gaming is seriously over-exagarated.

You gotta be shitting me Derek. Your analogy of comparing cars to video games really, really works here lol. Sure I guess AoC is the "Ferrari" of video games, it sure needs a lot of power under the hood, so in that respect your analogy stands.

WoW retail price = AoC retail price

WoW subscription price = AoC subscription price

Tell me how does the price of a VW Beetle compare to a Ferrari????

Thats just sad Bob, but I guess expected of EA i guess. Too bad Westwood sold out. They could have been at least as big as Blizzard by now.

Blaming Piracy for the twilight of PC Gaming is just plain ignorant. If you really think that EA, Activision, Vivendi etc. etc. are moving to consoles because of pirates you are very, very uninformed.

First of all PC Gaming is not dead, the big publishers are moving to consoles because thats where the MONEY IS! Its as simple as that. With games selling millions on consoles vs a few hundred thousand on the PC its obvious where more money is to be made. The sheer install base, and the casual orientation of the console market and the fact that consoles are used exclusively for gaming is what is drawing the big publishers.

Meanwhile we have independent developers/publishers that are only too happy to fill the vacuum that are developing some quite cool games for the PC that sell really well.
Sure their games get pirated like all the rest as well, but they dont whine about it.

Im not saying piracy is right, or the way to go. Im not saying that they dont affect the sales of a game because they do, Im just saying that their effect is overexagarated
by the industry. If you don't believe me go to Stardocks page and see what they have to say about file-sharing and pirating in general.

Reactor instead of reacting like a goddamn kid, which you probably are, think about what I said.

Youve stated that you are a developer right? That means you develop and sell games to a certain market audience.
You can't sell a game to someone who isn't into buying your games and thats it!!! No way period. End of discussion. The people who download and share software aren't going to buy your game, unless it's a game that appeals to them. You can't make em. Even if there was NO FILESHARING/PIRATEING ever, those people wouldn't buy your game ANYWAY.

For example. I have bought every single game that Blizzard
has developed. Some of them ive downloaded first, but eventually ive bought them all. WoW was the only game that totally dissapointed me. But for some people Blizzard makes crappy kiddie games that aren't appealing. They will probably download them, play for a while and then delete or forget about them. They aren't doing any damage to the market share since they never intended to buy those games in the first place. Any other prefered method of thinking about this is just BS. The number of people who pirate games is simply too low to make a difference one way or the other

Most of you people (I said most not all) who have posted here about so called "Piracy" are talking out of your ass and dont know jackshit.
Piracy is the illegal "selling" of downloaded (or otherwise obtained) software. Downloading file-shared software is hardly piracy and would be incredibly difficult to prosecute in any court of law, let alone an American one.

Another point all of you who have said "Boohoo no Demo, now Ill have to pirate the game" are again talking out your ass! As if you wouldnt download the game anyway. LOL!
Demo's dont prevent people from downloading and file-sharing, the people who do that on a regular basis are going to do it again with this game, Demo or No Demo.

This whole demo thing is just another lame excuse to rant about a game that isn't even FINISHED YET.
For fucks sake people why don't you at least wait until its done before you whine to death about it.

Oh please man, like "pre-teens" & "young adult's" won't be playing this game 'cos it has violence & gore....hahah...
If anything this game will appeal to teens even MORE because of its adult theme.
Lets be real. This is an MMO. More accurately it's an MMORPG. Even more accurately its a Fantasy MMORGP.
So saying it won't compete with WOW in market share is BS. Pure and simple.

They didn't say that, they just said that at the recomended specs you should be able to play at THAT resolution with most settings ON....I guess that means that you CAN play at a higher resolution but you will probably have to drop detail levels.....

If you don't like the combat mechanics, then yeah, I guess the game isn't for you. Although I would think that if you liked Hellgate, then the gameplay in Witcher should seem sophisticated by comparison.

A lot of faults can be found with Hellgate London, but one of them is NOT its combat. Its Diabloesque and fun, which is how it should be with a H&S game.
The actual point I tried to make is that the game feels too much like its "on rails" I guess. Maybe its more freeform later on, but it plays like an Action/Adventure more than an RPG.
