I wonder if any of the "big three" is ever going to release a mouse + keyboard combo controller for the console.

Nintendo is famous for its innovation in this regard, but since they are strictly about casual games i highly doubt they will do it.

Microsoft seems at first glance the most likely do make a controller like that but then what would be the difference between an XBOX and a Windows PC??

Sony I think would have the most to gain with this control scheme, a lot of gamers (myself included) could be persuaded to get a console if it supported a mouse and keyboard combo.

I think what he meant to say is that since they (the developers) are console players now but SINCE they used to be hardcore PC guys, that they will try to implement as much of the PC elements into the console port.

However this is probably just marketing blown out his ass, i seriously doubt these guys would be "console" or "pc" guys, the fact of the matter is Fallout 3 is being made for the lowest common denominator since it is cross platform, in this case that is the console.

Manic Half, lets face it id doesn't do DEEP STORIES.

If you consider Crysis DEEP then dont read on.

Half-Life was deep, Half-Life 2 was deep, System Shock 1 and 2 were deep. There are certain story and gameplay mechanics that work in FPS shooters and certain stuff doesnt. They tried doing a DEEP Storyline with Doom 3, tried and failed miserably.

They should keep Doom4 simple, just the way the original was.

Please just bring back the BFG9000 gameplay mechanic from Doom 2, the ability to fry enemies with an invisible ray is just brilliant (microwave gun anyone?)

Fallout 2 had child killing.....you didn't have to do it....but you could.....if you wanted to....

Legislation or no legislation the fact remains that Fallout 3 will most probably not allow child killing.

It will be a weaker game for it....

CoD4 Singleplayer is too much of a propaganda affair, and not really that much fun...Better than Crysis though.

Why didn't they include the last lvl from Doom 2. It was "INSANELY" hard (without cheats) on the easiest difficulty let alone on "nightmare".

How can you switch from playing a shooter on a PC with one on a console? I can't fathom it? Why would anyone play shooters on a console especially if the same title was available for the PC.

The simple fact of the matter is that if Microsoft never entered the console business the PC Gaming industry would have been as strong as ever if not stronger, that is a hard fact. There is no denying it, or beating about the bush. They created and sold XBOX and XBOX360 Gaming consoles at a HUUUUGE loss, just to get their foot in the door. They success of Halo on the XBOX gave the console another taste of "PC like" gaming and was the second step, and here the corporate bastards purchased the Bungie a company that was developing Halo for the PC, and changed the direction of the whole company.

Z9000 no this is going to change nothing, EA is taking potshots at the PC Gaming industry, in effect it wants to move us over to consoles.

They WANT to make it harder for us to play legitimately purchased titles, thereby increasing the piracy of PC games, so they can justify moving over to consoles completely where it so much easier to dish our their SHIT.

I say good riddance to them, but I feel sorry about BioWare, another great company thats gone down the corporate large intestine....

Some really good points on this thread!

The most annoying thing is the fact that they are shooting themselves in the foot with this, if they are making it easier to play the pirated game than a legaly purchased copy, who is to blame for the declining sales? The pirates?
Why can't anyone see the logic of this....this is totally beyond me.

No wonder people are switching to consoles, EA is forcing them to.

Like most people have already stated, I too hated the cheap teleport-in "boo!" scare tactic of Doom3 monsters, it was too predictable and didn't make for exciting gameplay.

Bring in the fast-paced, almost frantic gameplay of the original Doom/Doom2 games.
The setting needs to change to oldschool hell mode, you know the thrash metal "slayer" style hell with over-the-top flying cacodemons and pentagrams and shit.
And of course the most important thing, the BFG.

The original BFG is simply what seperates Doom2's AMAZING FPS deathmatch experience from anything else. Those who have played Doom2 multiplayer will know what Im talking about, the gameplay mechanic behind the weapon is unique to Doom2 and has never been reproduced since.

Yeah it's interesting how these suits insist on saying one thing, and then doing something completely different.

The worst part of it that most part of their customers/consumers are LETTING THEM GET AWAY WITH IT!

This fucker Kevin Unangst deserves to be crucified upside down by his balls, with his eyeballs covered in honey, right in the middle of an ant-hill.

I think this Bill is a waste of tax payer's money and as someone already pointed out in this thread is quite useless. Not only that but its probably a step in the "censorship" direction, not a really big step but a first little "baby" step.

Most kids will find ways to play games that are not rated for them, anything that is forbidden is only that much sweeter isn't it?? I played violent games when I was a kid, and I turned out ok (I think ).

There are bigger issues and bigger problems that your government needs to handle. For example the rise of christian fundamentalism. Or what about the big problems with the so called "right" to bear arms.

Well, anything to do with protection what is yours, is a moving target. Even in tangible assets. e.g. I live in a multi-million dollar estate with 24/7 monitored security, 24/7 roving guards, electronic gate access etc. On my house, I have internal and external cameras. And just a few months back, I had to install motion sensors on the border between my fence and the lake due to the fact that the side of the lake that I'm on, is right across from the golf course. That golf course has access to the main street. So, given that cars are getting stolen here, houses broken into etc, getting access to the grounds - outside of the view of the guardhouse - is a simple matter of walking up the street, along the golf course drive-way, onto the lake embankment. They walking around the bank to the back of any house you want to break into.

This is not meant to be an insult, so please don't take offense, but do you ever have anxiety attacks or feel like there is someone watching your every move?
