Ok here is my short review for anyone who is still not really sure what AoC is all about.
The game is fun. Tons of fun. I still havent progressed from the beginning newbie pirate town (it still feels like Im playing Pirates from the Carribean and not really Conan) but it is quite a refreshing experience. The destiny quests are fun, and playing with other people is highly encouraged if you are on a open PvP server like me.
Safety in Numbers
That being said the game is lacking a "lot" of polish, and I really mean a LOT. A huge number of secondary skills are useless ATM, as they don't seem to be correctly implemented or they simply just wont work. Likewise the PvP exp and rewards are still not implemented as far as I know. Luckily this doesn't detract that much from the core gameplay, but its hard not nitpick on this. There are also a lot of quest bugs, some of them showstoppers where assistance from GMs are required. Hopefully this will be resolved in a couple of days but I have to say that FUNCOM failed to deliver a smooth launch and seem to have taken the launch weekend off. I had a showstopping quest bug yesterday with my lvl 15 guardian, and although there is a way to skip the quest I decided to roll a new char, and wait for the devs to fix the quest.
The best part of the game seems to be the community. Im playing on an english European PvP server and so far no "leet" kids or crazy swearing hysterical spaniards have shown up. The community is very friendly and willing to help, people will actually assist you if you ask for help in the general OOC chat.
Anyway my overall verdict is that this game is a diamond in the rough. This isnt Blizzard, they failed to deliver a completely polished product, but by no means is this Hellgate London.
My recomendation: Get it, you wont regret it!This comment was edited on May 26, 07:03.
I have a nifty blue line!
