Sounds like the PERFECT NAME for the NEXT UBER KICKASS FPS FOR NEXT GENERATION CONSOLES THAT YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO BUY TO BE COOL!!!! WAY BETTER THAN HALO AND MUCH COOLER THAN UNREAL3 WOW!

Seriously....is anyone surprised by this? Crytek switching to consoles under the "patronage" of the benevolent EA.

Not that I mind though, I thought Far Cry was fun but average, Crysis was just plain boring once you got over the "woo purty!" factor.

Well I for one am glad, Crysis was a retarded game and as such good riddance to one more developer switching to consoles where they can make retarded games for the masses.

PC Gamers were always and I hope will remain inteligent gamers. If you want to make and sell shit, then by all means go develop for another platform.

If WH40k MMO came out tomorrow, and was anywhere near the quality of AoC (at release) I would probably take a long leave of absence at work, lock myself in my apartment and role-play PvP to death....Literally....

For now AoC is pretty damn good, even though it needs a huge amount of things implemented and fixed, the only thing it is lacking ATM is customer support.

Batman, he is talking about the verification process.

If you happen to install the game, say 5 years from now and Bioware have removed support for Mass Effect, then you would be left with a worthless install CD. There would be no official server which could authenticate and decrypt your game.

On a side note:
Im having so much fun with AoC right now, bugs and all, Mass Effect is going to have to wait
Damn AoC is the most fun Ive had with a game for a loong time.

Damn I had fun with MK3, the coolest thing about it was that it 1 vs 1 could be played on a single PC. (Using a keyboard) I would have a friend over, we would get high on some quality weed and kick the shit out of each other on MK3 Tournament mode, man those were the days!!!

P.S. The keyboard can be the best fighting controller ever, if the game is designed to support it!

For the first time ever Im going to agree with Nuclear Watchdog.

If this game is anything even remotely like Crysis, its going to suck crusty and hairy balls, just like Crysis did.

Then the devs are going to blame piracy for the lack of sales.....LOL!

Crysis was complete and utter shit: Run around pretty looking jungle, shoot some Koreans. Rinse and repeat 50x!

Far Cry 2: Run around pretty looking savannah, shoot some Africans. Rinse and repeat 50x!

Sounds familiar, doesn't it? Oh and these two games have two more theme incomon, stereotypical racism and holier than though attitude.

Just because its "one" of the fastest selling games in the world, doesn't mean its "the" fastest selling game in the world.

So all WOW Fanbois can finnaly breath that *sigh* of relief.

AoC is damn fun though, I gave up on WoW after lvl 16,
Im currently lvl 18 with my Assassin, on a full open PvP server and having a blast!

LOL!

This thread has gone so far of the subject that its becoming rediculous.

The fact is that this so called "anty-piracy" chip has been on motherboards for several years, and that in fact it DOESNT WORK!

Ok here is my short review for anyone who is still not really sure what AoC is all about.

The game is fun. Tons of fun. I still havent progressed from the beginning newbie pirate town (it still feels like Im playing Pirates from the Carribean and not really Conan) but it is quite a refreshing experience. The destiny quests are fun, and playing with other people is highly encouraged if you are on a open PvP server like me.
Safety in Numbers
That being said the game is lacking a "lot" of polish, and I really mean a LOT. A huge number of secondary skills are useless ATM, as they don't seem to be correctly implemented or they simply just wont work. Likewise the PvP exp and rewards are still not implemented as far as I know. Luckily this doesn't detract that much from the core gameplay, but its hard not nitpick on this. There are also a lot of quest bugs, some of them showstoppers where assistance from GMs are required. Hopefully this will be resolved in a couple of days but I have to say that FUNCOM failed to deliver a smooth launch and seem to have taken the launch weekend off. I had a showstopping quest bug yesterday with my lvl 15 guardian, and although there is a way to skip the quest I decided to roll a new char, and wait for the devs to fix the quest.

The best part of the game seems to be the community. Im playing on an english European PvP server and so far no "leet" kids or crazy swearing hysterical spaniards have shown up. The community is very friendly and willing to help, people will actually assist you if you ask for help in the general OOC chat.

Anyway my overall verdict is that this game is a diamond in the rough. This isnt Blizzard, they failed to deliver a completely polished product, but by no means is this Hellgate London.
My recomendation: Get it, you wont regret it!
