Loving the game so far and I gotta say that apart from some of the frame skipping and hiccups in some cut scenes Im pretty happy with how the game runs. Haven't noticed any memory leaks either, but then again I run 16GB of RAM and always disable the hard disk swap file.

And Xcom has some serious balance problems. It can be fun, but it can be incredibly frustrating as well.

Yeah it can get pretty hectic and hard at times but that's also one of the reasons why I like it so much. I'm on my fourth restart so far, and doing pretty well so far but the tension is still there on every mission. I'm really digging this game.

W3 is the better game in my opinion. So far into 2016, XCom2 holds the top spot in my book for GOTY, although it's early days yet I don't think anything is going to come this year to beat it. Really fantastic game.

BG2 was an absolute masterpiece of PC RPGing. Its expansion pack was also flawless and added hours upon hours of content for the game. The odds of creating a BG3 to rival BG2 are one hundred to one, or worse!

There are two games that rank in terms of masterpieces of cRPG's, in order: Planescape: Torment and BG2+ToB. You're right that the chance would be so low it'd be stupid, considering how easy they've made things in the last ~25 years people would be upset if there wasn't highlighted map points.

Right time to go nostalgic, off to play BG and BG2...relive them glory days.

I would place Fallout2 neck and neck with those two, I actually like it even a tiny bit more.

"could" meaning others could, but not me. My first campaign (non-iron man) took me 40 hours with plenty of save scumming and overwatching every turn after moving a few squares. I'm still assuming XCOM 2 is artificially shorter with the urgency of the countdoom doom clock thing.

The doom clock can be very effectively held back from what I experienced so far... 16 hours in it's at 4 bars... you can focus down the end-goal but it doesn't seem very smart to do that, since you can not do research while you do that. So you have to balance that vs research vs missions and vs squad health. Gravely wounded soldiers are around 2 to 4 weeks out. And this hampers your ability severly, higher ranked soldiers are extremely powerful (though I think you could win every mission with a rookie squad (that has full tech armor and plasma) too, you just need to savescum a ton)

Im playing "semi-iron man" mode for my first play through. I only load when I seriously mess up and am in danger of failing a mission. Wounded soldiers and even an occasional soldier loss Im fine with, I do a lot of rotations so that I can man at least two full squads at all times.

XCOM2 is pretty awesome. Yeah it's pretty much more of the same, but the first game was awesome too, with a little twist. It's also hard as fuck, which should be complimented on. In this day and age games that make you think and plan ahead (and punish you if you don't) are few and far between.

Level design is going to make or break this game. If it's an on-rails shooter it's gonna suck. If the maps are anything like D1 & D2 it's gonna be pretty cool.

I can only hope, but it sure looks awesome, like a true Doom 2 sequel.

Lets hope you are right.

You guys are off your rocker, when was the last time you played the game? I reinstalled it like a week ago and the combat is so much better than it was, really feels tight in most situations now.

I recently reinstalled Path of Exile, they made some great improvements since the last time I played it. Specifically the gameplay is much tighter, the graphics are more consistent and no stupid desync issues. They added noticeably more lore to the world for people who care about such things, the world is creepy and dark, much darker than the cartoon central D3. Also the skill/gear combinations are now much more robust & varied. The game world feels more populated and alive than D3 ever was, jump into a specific named game to party up, quest, duel, trade, whatever...Also no stupid BoA. Now that XCOM2 is around the corner Ill probably be splitting my gameplay time between those two great games.

Well I broke my cardinal rule and pre-ordered XCOM 2 from GMG, got a nice 20% coupon straight up too so that was pretty nice. Pre-loading on Steam as we speak.

Lip service isn't putting food on anyone's table though, neither is it providing people with jobs, controlling the banks or checking the military industrial complex. I see what you are getting at, but putting dishonest people into office is basically choosing the lesser evil. I know what you are going to say, most politicians are dishonest, its the nature of the beast. As long as people keep accepting that however, things are never going to change not for the better anyway.

I would be very surprised if Sanders somehow took the Dem. nomination. Not because he is incapable or he doesn't have the support, I believe he is and does, but because the cards are so stacked against him. There is way too much corporate money in politics for 'them' to ever allow a self declared socialist to become the president of the most powerful nation on earth. Clinton will clinch it, and in some ways I find her and those of her ilk supremely more scary than any crazed conservative or right wing demagogue.

Personally I think E:D is highly overrated and with the stunt they pulled with the pricing on their "expansion" they should get all the heat atm. I paid way too much for a shell of a game with the original E:D and now they ask me to pay the exact same amount again for adding just a tad more depth to a game that was as shallow as a Tunisian mudpuddle to begin with.

My thoughts exactly. So disappointed in E:D.

To be honest anyone who backed elite dangerous should have known that he didn't get anywhere near enough money to make the thing and he was dragging you along if you had any clue how much it costs to make a modern videogame.

To be honest anyone complaining about Elite Dangerous was expecting a totally different game than promised. They pitched a new version of Elite, they delivered 100% minus the offline component.

Just because they don't like it because they thought it would be something different doesn't mean ED/Frontier are to blame. It's like buying Half Life expecting a Super Mario experience then saying Valve dropped the ball because you were hoping for Mario.

ED is just this decades remake of the original, not the BDSSE.

This, exactly.
