Why did this have to be a private deal exactly? This is the exact kind of thing governments exist for: nationwide systems like this. Even with the inefficiencies of government, I'm sure this could have been done for less than $40B.

While your first point is well taken and I believe correct, I'm not so sure our government can scratch their own asses for less than 40b anymore. I'm betting it has more to do with the existing infrastructure that ATT holds. Either way, better to own stocks and get treated more fairly than to be an actual human being nowadays...

They are Billions is pretty awesome. Really enjoying it!

Looks good, but I'm reticent to get something in EA.

Understandable, however this game feels closer to a release than any other EA game i've played. If there was never any updates for it i'd still be happy with my purchase.

Install Origin and support EA? Ya...that price is just too high.

You do realize that by installing Origin and only ever playing the games that they give away for free, you're actually costing them money, right?

Actually it's good for them. They can show Origin adoption rates and usage increasing. Their executives then show their board of directors which also pleases their shareholders. But i'm sure you definitely realized that...

Although I'll skip this one, I'm quite ok with these type of DLC's as they keep funding one of my favorite 4x games there is. I'm pretty excited about the next patch with all the changes, especially in defensive structures and losing to doomstack mechanic changes.

Someone will make a trustworthy child's smartwatch. The ones I have seen look like the Dick Tracy wrist phone with facetime. The ability to lockout who you child can receive calls from and make calls to is a big plus. And it is strapped to their wrist making it harder to lose.

The real problem is that these smart watches had a silent call mode which can be used to spy on said child, or home, or family... illegal in Germany. Not just illegal to sell, but illegal to possess!

And yet a smart phone with an app has the exact same functionality.

Always glad to see these guys doing well. I think it is probably the best example of a free to play game I've ever seen, and hopefully it is monetarily working well for them!

I know I've personally bought the ten stash bundle because I like to horde everything!

Agreed, GGG deserves all the praise they can get for an Indy dev.

I'm fairly sure that's not just an American thing. I doubt people in Europe go "Yeah, a robot took my job, it's fucking AWESOME!"

In any case, automation is going to WRECK the amount of jobs available, especially low-mid level blue collar jobs. Anyone who sits there tut-tutting it is a moron.

I think the hit for Europeans will be slower as they are much more Unionized that in the States. Germany banning Ub3r for instance because of the Taxi unions is one example. Whether they can stay competitive remains to be seen.

Pixel might have been a decent choice if it hadn't been for the lack of a headphone jack. Silicon Valley's apparent disconnect from the reality of a good portion of the rest of the world is starkly evident through choices like this.

No headphone jack is why a lot of my friends have been going to the Nokia8 lately.

Ahh, i do miss being a Dreadlord, terrorizing the countryside. PK'ing by day, Robbing Houses by night (thanks Mountain Dew!), then stashing it all on a tiny island only big enough for a house i randomly found when i stole someone's boat. That being the only way to actually keep your stuff safe. Eventually I had so many barrels and chests full of stuff that it fell through the elevated wooden floorboards. I guess it had some arbitrary high weight it could hold like 9999999 whatever then fell through. Spent a few days trying to collect it all through glitches in the sight system. Waking up, seeing what new exploits there were. Eventually pissing off enough people that a group of GreatLord's came after me one day when i was terrorizing a dungeon, well it didnt end well for them but I did run out of charges on my favorite PK wand (wands were so OP, no refresh time between casts or cast animations, as fast as you could point and click).

So, here are some fun "what ifs" musings.

Say every American freezes their credit report. How do Equifax, Experian and Transunion make money? They basically can't anymore, right? They charge for credit reports, which they literally won't be able to give out anymore, right?

God, this needs to happen.

When you need credit you need to suspend your credit freeze so you can get a credit report.

It'll just slow things down at best, and at worst, they bang you for 10 bucks every time you want to apply for credit.

Right, but how often do you NEED credit? How often do people really apply for a loan, mortgage, credit card, etc? Plus, when you do need that done, you ask which credit shithole they use, and just unfreeze there for 30 days.

I think all credit shitholes are shitting bullets because judging by the traffic they're getting, everyone in the US is freezing their credit, meaning they can't sell their dubiously harvested financial information anymore.

I hope they all burn in hell.

Or... Plot twist... Once Congress approves the free freezing credit options, scammers do this in mass to set their own PIN since they already have all the information to do this. Then Unfreeze when their ready to exploit it!

I thought a free OS like Windows 10 with DirectX 12 was supposed to be more secure.
