These xcom type games can be so frustrating. What I hated about the last one was that even though an enemy was out in the open, I'd miss them most of the time, yet the same enemy would hit me with the first shot almost every time. I always felt like I had less luck than the AI in every scenario. Save restart, save restart, save restart...

If you mean XCOM2, the saves are seeded at mission start so you can't savescum. Statistically it often feels like you're missing a disproportionate number of high percentage shots but I could never detect any form AI "cheats" when I was screwing around in the game files for modding purposes. It is frustrating to miss a 83% shot then a 92% shot but statistically speaking it will happen.

I think too many people try to play these games perfectly where they never take a hit or any long term squad damage. It's more fun (IMO) to play them where there are consequences. Ironman XCOM2 is some heart pounding shit.

Anyways this looks like its reviewing decently but needed more campaign depth. That's OK to me though, XCOM2s campaign is sprawling and you don't always want that sort of time investment. Going to give it a whirl tonight, I'm taking a break from Chimera squad which has a really frustrating open if you go for Sacred Coil first. Seriously do not go for Sacred Coil first, I love hard games and holy shit it is a ball pounder on Hard.

I, uh... went Sacred Coil first. Is it that different than others? I've only done like 3 missions since that choice, so I'm barely in.

Edit - just read. Apparently the boss battle is impossible unless something gets glitched or you get insanely lucky (which may be the same thing.)

Looks like I'm starting over.

I'm playing on hard ironman and i beat sacred coil (my first investigation) last night. Boss battle took a few tries but nothing impossibly or having to 'glitch' your way through. Now i'm doing the crystalid operations, saving the psi's guys for last.

Gotta admit I'm confused by the timing of this announcement. Are they just trying to steal some thunder from Diablo 4? Because if they don't plan to be in beta until at least a year from now, I don't see the reasoning behind making the big announcement today.

Considering that D4 is years and years away and this announcement was scheduled before the D4 announcement I'd say Fuck Blizzard.

The correct URL is this one and he posted the update early because hes out the rest of the day.

Is this the patch with the graphical revamp? I keep trying to enjoy POE but can't, something with the animations and graphics just feels really off and unsatisfying. I know a lot of people like it and I'm in the minority here but I really feel like the visuals aren't doing the rest of the game justice.

Depending on the skill and how much cast/attack speed one pumps into his character things sometimes will feel off. As you level up things should start to feel good. Around level 65 you'll be close in feel to where your character will feel level 90 (100 max). One can level into the 60's in a few days of gameplay at most so its not such a huge grind.

My advise would be to pick a build that looks good on youtube and the forums (thats current!) and go off of that. Nowadays i never even use builds as i feel as if i have an equivalent of a PhD in the game mechanics. Only game to ever scratch that d2 itch i had as a teenager oh so long ago.

Whats your starting build for new leagues? I haven't played in a few years.. Ground slam marauder was a big thing back then so.. yeah

This league i'm going a poison based pathfinder using either of the new skills venom gyre or cobra lash, so far venom gyre is more fun since its synergy with whirling blades. 2nd char i'll go minions. Cant go wrong going poison/minion/mines&traps this league as those are the newly updated aspects.

I picked it up a while ago and all I can say is it is no defense grid.
DG series probably best TD games ever made.

I always liked the WC3 mod map Elemental TD to DG personally as best tower defense game.

So is anyone playing currently and what sort of shape is it in? If they'd drop the price to 20'ish I'd buy it, but no way I'm giving them 40+ - on sale - for it.

The game is dogshit. It's in alpha stage, they are adding features that should of been there and fixing entire systems, beta is for streamlining and bugfixing. Their 4.0 will be more like 1.4 version to any honest standard. Never again egosoft, never again.

Put in other words, the RTX 2080 Super is ~9% faster on average than the GTX 1080 Ti at both 1440p and 4K. So we're getting a performance boost, at the exact same price point, almost two and a half years later. Without a doubt, GTX 1080 Ti owners can rejoice at the news

Should have bought a 1080Ti!

Indeed 1080Ti = 11gb VRam, 2080S = 8GB. Just wait for all them texture mods you're going to load on the next Elderscrolls abomination.

If you thought Civ6 was trash then X4 is whatever is 10 tiers below that. I'll never buy another egosoft game. It's still in has bugs and features missing that an alpha game would possess.

I thought EA had this title locked away in their IP vault, wonder how they managed to keep hold of it this long.

I don't know about the real time "pew pew" combat they've shown off, doesn't seem to fit with this style of game.

Starflight2 on the Sega Genesis had real time space combat, was a lot of fun.
