Well, bad word-of-mouth certainly does it's part.

Exactly. I am not a fanboy but I do have an interest in seeing my platform of choice receive continued support. So when people mindlessly spout "PS3 is failing" I'm sure there are a certain percentage of people who will blindly accept that as fact. You're a fan of the 360/Wii/PC, that's fine. Enjoy your games. How does bashing another system help you enjoy yours any more?

You're right, I'm Sony's biggest problem. People who criticize the system are causing it to fail. Totally my (our) fault. Sorry.

Be specific here, how is the PS3 failing? What exactly is it that you see as a problem? Once again, the PS3 is doing as well as the 360 during its first year when it had no direct competition. On top of that the PS3 was, for a time, significantly more expensive than the 360 yet still sold just as well. Now the games are arriving, exclusive or otherwise, the hardware is more reliable than the 360, the online is free, wireless is built in, Blu-ray, etc.

So, aside from the anti-PS3 fanatics, what is this PS3 problem you speak of?

Seems like it is doing OK to me. First year sales are identical to the 360's. There's been price drops which have resulted in increasing sales (obviously). New AAA releases like Ratchet and Clank, COD4, Uncharted, doing well with others on the way (FF, MGS4, Haze, Killzone 2, etc).

The only problem I see with the PS3 at this point is with folks like you who seem to take it personally whenever there is positive news for the console.

nothing like Morpheus and Face

I'm hoping it won't be long before all the classic maps get re-done for UT3.

Check out some of the videos of Little Big Planet. In terms of realistic graphics/physics, I think that beats anything yet seen on the 360 hands down.

I'll have to do that.

Here ya go - http://www.gametrailers.com/player/17548.html?type=mov&id=17548

So far I've been more impressed with the 360 graphics over the PS3.

Check out some of the videos of Little Big Planet. In terms of realistic graphics/physics, I think that beats anything yet seen on the 360 hands down. Now, how much fun the actual game will be is another story.

"TV! You can do without it!"

Sure, at least until "Lost" comes on and now they are talking about the season being cut in half due to the strike.

Also its less than half of either the xbox 360 or the wii's numbers.

It's ironic that you don't want to be labeled a fanboy yet you feel compelled to compare sales numbers to the other consoles. Such sales comparisons are typical fanboy talking points. However, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and not label you as such. I never brought the other consoles up and was merely pointing out the absurdity of the notion that nobody uses their PS3s.

However, since you did decide to make sales comparisons, it's worth noting that the PS3's first year sales are nearly identical to those of the 360s. When you stop to consider that the PS3 costs significantly more than a 360 (or at least used to) yet sold the same, the PS3 sales figures become that much more impressive.

Thousands of idle PS3's out there collecting dust...

Why does every non-PS3 owner assume that the nearly 6 million PS3s out there go unused? For the record, in addition to watching movies (both Blu-ray and DVD), I'm regularly playing Resistance: Fall of Man, Warhawk, Ratchet and Clank, Eye of Judgement, Motorstorm, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and Super Stardust HD.

Enough with the fanboy crap. It's getting old.

Well, it reminded me a lot of the original UT but with prettier graphics and that's alright by me. And since my PC is sorely lacking, I'll definitely be picking this up for the PS3. Add to that mouse and keyboard control and I have no complaints!

Something tells me it was a scam to sell houses.

"No, I'm sorry we are all out of puppies. However, while I have you on the line can I interest you in a house?"

I received that same email here in NJ over 2 weeks ago (same picture). Strange. From what I've been told, all six puppies have been found homes.

OK, that fixed it and visuals are much improved! Thanks for your help.

Now, I understand this is just a beta but still. You wouldn't think the developers would let such a significant bug slip through. I'm sure there are many like me who were disappointed and are not aware the graphics issue can be fixed by editing the ini file.
I'm guessing many people won't give this a second look as a result.

But to repeat, graphics look much, much better after the fix. So much so that I now realize that I need a new rig to properly run it in all its glory.

it is a bug in the demo. edit your C:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3 Demo\Engine\Config\BaseEngine.ini and it fixes the problem.

I appreciate the heads-up but could you tell me what exactly I should be changing in the file? Thanks.

Its called Deferred Rendering you stupid human

Call it whatever you like, but at the moment, it looks like crap (IMHO).

Trust me, I'm a huge UT fan and still consider the original the best. I've been looking forward to this one more than most other games. However, I'm feeling very underwhelmed at that moment. Hopefully, with some tweaking this will change.

OK, so I've read enough posts here to gather there is no AA in UT3. However, the level of jaggies in this game, at least on my setup, is really surprising. I don't have a monster rig so I tried running at 1024*786 and get a decent frame rate with everything maxed. However, I had to keep going back to the setup menu to confirm I wasn't running in 640*480. It looked that bad.

So my question is, does it look this bad for everyone or am I missing a setting somewhere. I've got 2-3 year old games that look better than this.

Well, that's only half the story as the developer is also complaining about the difficulties of working within the limitations of the 360's DVD drive.

Buried for inaccuracy. Oh, wait, this isn't digg.

And like I say to the other girls out there who have big mouths and cry about their stupid vices whatever they may be, "You're lucky you have a pussy otherwise we'd have to kill ya".

Hmm. I'm guessing somebody's mommy didn't love them enough as a child?
