Correct answer would have been "Amateur".

Actually, since the word in question was "pro-" (note the hyphen) I believe they were looking for the prefix, "anti-".

Is it too late to contribute to the whole "PC vs Console" thing that was going on a couple of days ago? Oh well, who cares I'm posting this anyway. Take that you hardcore, elitist, PC snobs!

There are enough games out there for a 'top 100 WW2 games' list.

Hence the need for a top 5 list. Too much crap out there.

You can't remap some of the controls because its not worth the hassles

Isn't that something best left to the end-user to decide? After all, from a developer's standpoint it shouldn't be a big deal to implement so why not go ahead and include it? There are few, if any, games that I don't remap to some degree.

id say casual pc gamers have moved over, not hardcore gamers.

This whole "casual" vs "hardcore" gamer thing is just dumb. I've been playing PC games and building my own machines since the original Wolfenstein. I've spent thousands of dollars in upgrades just to ensure I could play the latest, greatest techdemo game. The bottom line is, I like games of all types - from the simplest online Flash puzzlers to the melt-my-videocard-to-the-MB graphically extravagant FPS. So, I guess that makes me a "hardcore" gamer. That being said, there is nothing wrong with consoles. They are simply another variant in the world of video games. If you can't find fun in a console because of this idea that they are only for "casual" gamers, then you are seriously missing out.

I come here because of its focus on PC games, and it doesn't bode well to see this trend take place.

Gamers are gamers. Many (if not most) here play both PC and console games. As consoles become more and more capable and PC-like, they are attracting former PC-only gamers like myself. I'd rather this site reflect broadening interests rather than narrow its focus to just one side. I say give both platforms equal coverage but maintain the distinction between the two within the site. If the top-level articles randomly alternate between PC and console it may be a bit distracting to readers who are only interested in one particular platform.

In any case, I do feel that the growing dominance in console gaming over PC gaming makes it deserving of increased coverage. Perhaps it is time to expand beyond the lone "Consolidation" section? What that should look like I cannot say.

This all was played after Root Beer Tapper and Robotron though. Have to get my daily fix of retro.

OK, I'll admit I'm envious of your 360 over my PS3, but just this once!

Robotron is pure gaming goodness distilled.

If you're smart, you're just now coming around to jumping in the pond.

and the pond is nice.

Except that when you finish swimming you come out with a nasty red-ringed rash. Now the PS3, that's a nicely chlorinated, filtered pool.

Well, if choosing between having a small amount of human waste in my water or a small amount of heroin -- I think I'll take my chances with the human waste.

I'll take the heroin thank you very much. At least heroin has legitimate (and not so legitimate) purposes as a pain killer. Human fecal matter is another story.

99% of that 90% were probably speeding and pissed off they got caught. Come on, get real.

When I get pulled over for whatever reason (speeding, no seatbelt, whatever) I'm usually fully aware that I was guilty and I never give the cops a hard time as that's a sure-fire way to make sure you get the ticket. I'm polite and cooperative and try to be mindful of the fact that he is just doing a job. In short, I try to make the best of the situation. That being said, I would say about 50% of the time, I find myself on the receiving end of a cop who seems to be on a major power trip. Lectures and belittling comments are not uncommon.

Do your job, give me the ticket if you feel it is necessary, but spare me your ego. Keep it professional and treat me with the respect I deserve.

Definitely a rental-only game and even then only for fans of the show. It's interesting to explore some of the locales from the series but actual gameplay is lacking. Too bad, since whether you like the show or hate it, the source material is full of adventure gaming potential.

And did you actually read the article before making the comment?

"Unfortunately because of disc space, we don't have the space to include other languages, other voice over files for the respective versions," stated Payton. "So the Japanese version's not gonna have English VO, and the North American and European versions won't have Japanese VO."

Oh fucking no, what ever will we do without multi-language VO in regions it's not even needed.

OK, so lets assume Toshiba is still planning on manufacturing HD DVD players for the foreseeable future. Why would anyone even consider buying one at this point? Does anybody honestly believe that HD DVD still has a chance at winning the format war?

The players were cheaper to manufacture and the disks, at least initially, much more resistant to damage.

Wasn't clear which format you were speaking about here, but Blu-ray is the one with the scratch-resistant coating and is therefore the more durable of the two.

A single month of sales figures is hardly a good indicator for year end performance.

Would it be crazy to use it just as a BD/DVD player?

It depends on how early you want to start enjoying HD movies. You can spend $400 now and get a machine that plays BD movies, upconverts reg. DVD's to near-HD quality, and get a PS3 to boot.

I'll just add to that by saying I love being able to stream all my music from the Mac in my office to the PS3 in my family room where it benefits from the better sound system.

Can it play Dead Rising?

As soon as I posted I realized that I left myself open for such an attack.

Actually, I was expecting the "except play games" line.
