Is this the patch which feeds the player intravenously whilst they play the game so that they don't keel over and die during a tournament?

With the way games are going there wont be much brain left to control such a gizmo.

Apologies from author, I just have to remark that I think 'Deus Ex 2' is more of a console port than a sequel. I'm hoping Fallout 3 will be the opposite but I'm not getting my hopes up.

The PC needs a boost and frankly I have given up on the big companies and hope one of the smaller fish will come out with something to bring life back into this enfeebled market.

I respect what Stardock have done (I have GalCiv2 on my other computer) and I'm only too happy to support good games. Heck, I ended up buying some games more than once over the years (such as Deus Ex) and I don't regret it at all. The problem is all the rubbish which is flung out and expected to be lapped up - we vote with our feet by not buying it and they blame pirates for poor sales.

Whenever a good game gets the reception it deserves I'll be amongst the first to cheer it. The good guys need the support and they need to keep out of the trap others have fallen into - pumping out the same thing over and over with a few differences and/or more generic gameplay.

If you're going to dumb it down at least have an option to make it harder (proper) too. I like the difficulty levels on GalCiv2 as they ramp up nicely and I can play it casually or really get my teeth into it. This is good, and I hope they used something like that in Sins.

I also hope I managed to steer this thread back towards the original topic somewhat. Counter-threadjack!

Maybe they could incorporate their successful understanding of strategy into a fresh and awe-inspiring tactical FPS/RPG?

Sure there's long-term consequences: Play the game and you'll be scarred for life!

(Part of me still hopes it will be good. Reality usually trumps hope.)

Yeah, I had a Spectrum. I got greeted with the Ghostbusters symbol, the sampled laugh and then a beepathon Ghostbusters theme with subtitles.

When I was an anklebiter this was good.

Hopefully less frustrating than the original Ghostbusters game.

Yeah, I sank way too much time and effort into that innocent looking cassette

NWN1 rocked. I got a lot of gaming hours out of that game. I've re-installed it countless times on different computers over the years.

I salute thee

"Mark Blecher, general manager for digital media and gaming at Hasbro, said his company has been working with EA to make the look and feel consistent across platforms, giving the authorized version what he called an advantage over Scrabulous. Blecher said the backing of major companies also means better reliability, technical support and production values."

EA... better reliability, technical support and production values...

With a good Charisma it's possible to get away with that. Doctor is good for the extra damage perk (I forget its name now), the Combat Armor implants, and patching up the NPCs you'll need to have around you

Maybe his character should have just stayed in Vault City or Vault 15 and patched up 'more important people'

You'll find me in the corner, playing Deus Ex

Hell, the first time I was playing it I didn't have time to check how long I had been playing for because I was *SO ENGROSSED IN THE GAME*. If people are looking up to see what time it is then your game isn't good enough.

I *WANTED* to finish that game because I had invested a lot into it, I had built a character I liked and I wanted to see how he fared against the odds. And once I had finished I wanted to see how other characters would fare.

I realise intelligent games like Deus Ex are now nothing more than beacons in history, and I certainly do not expect anything good to come out any time soon, but if someone out there has the gusto to write a game which doesn't bend over backwards for the Brawndo crowd and has realistic consequences (i.e. if I build a crap character I suffer for it) then I'd happily buy it more than once.

Safe bet?

Multiple duties, such as driving a school bus, transporting tourists, sight-seeing tours and even the transportation of prisoners

Oh I can just see this now:
I'm transporting tourists and they keep taking pictures and the glare from the flash makes it hard to drive. They keep demanding places they want to see and you have to get there within a tight time limit to succeed. Once you arrive you then have to select the correct 'landmark information' text from a multiple choice list before the timer hits zero.

The transportation of prisoners oughta be a blast too. I can just see them firing rockets at the bus to get their friends out or one of them pretending to be really sick. Vehicles will pull out in front and try to stop you from completing the journey.

Oh yeah, I'm hot for this game
