So, just to confirm: If I purhcase the 'Retail Box' version of the game (BF3), install it, and want to play it, do I have to DL Origin in order to do so?

Wouldn't it be hilarious if the retail box was nothing more than a Key for Origin? (no disc)

EA forgets just because they cornered us on one game (cant buy on steam), doesn't mean they'll get us to buy their next shitty game on Origin. The game has to be of BF3 quality for me to keep selling my soul and morality.

If anything this hurts their own brand; certainly leaves me with a dirty feeling about Origin.

I couldn't care less where they sell this (or don't sell this). Rail shooters ain't my bag, baby. I'll take a sandbox over a railway any day.

So don't be gay. Eat more hay with Bobby Flay. What do you say?

Never played battlefield have you? It's no rail shooter.

Or you could just not buy this sort of garbage at all. Problem solved.

Sooo .. your answer is to miss out on the best game released in years?

As a gamer, this does not compute.

I'd rather make a lot of noise, email EA and make noise on forums and community sites... that we're not happy with it.

Sure, i'll buy it on Origin if i have to, but I don't have to like it, and I certainly won't be re-buying my steam games on Origin. As a matter of fact, I will probably stop buying all of their OTHER games that I care far less about

Sorry dude, I can't miss BF3 even for moral standards. I have to have it, and EA knows it. I'll hold them to account for using that against me in the end, in my own way.

BF3 should be on Steam, not putting it on steam is simply EA being dicks about it, and not striking an appropriate deal with Valve.

Anyway I bet there's a story to this, and all we can do is speculate at this point.

BF3 unfortunately is good enough that I'm going to buy it.. I've already spent so much money through Steam that I would like to keep all of my games in one place

The crap thing is, I may end up having to pick this up via Origin... *barF*

Facebook games have been terrible for some time, I havn't played Civ World yet, but if it's anything like farmville or any other time-management game i'm out.

I also own just about every iteration of Civilization up until this point, and this just lost interest with me.

What was I expecting? A civilization play-by-email style done in the browser. What did we get? Ha ... Mafia Wars with a civ skin

Who at R* was responsible for GTA IV?

Honestly, the story of Niko Bellec and the entirety of Liberty City was a pure work of art. I'd be very sad if Team Bondi had anything to do with GTA IV.

for those who have played wow to max level.. i have a question.

I don't care about pve, i could care less if i down the #1 big bad boss in the game... What I care about is PvP. Can I compete gear-wise with other players if i mostly pvp?

Is the honor gear good enough to compete with endgame raid gear? If it is, then I won't ever feel the need to run huge dungeons past the idea of just doing it for fun the odd time.

Okay i'm probably going to get burned alive here..
but..

I have had my copy of wow since release, but i never played it much. I made it to level 40 or so a couple of times, but ended up getting bored and quitting.

I'm back again, and this time the game changes are welcome to me. I am a PvP gamer, be it fps, rts... I always enjoy the thrill of a human opponent. I also am a bit anti-social, I couldn't be bothered getting heavily involved into guild politics and running with the same people all the time...

so for me, WoW is this thing I can log into, play for an hour or two and log off, with no worry of schedules or if i can get in on that raid tomorrow night.. i hate that shit.

The random dungeon finder is awesome, battlegrounds from anywhere, awesome.. if only it gave me loot and gold.

The new lighting engine is very pretty, especially on my dx11 video card. I have to say, after playing Rift and Warhammer; wow (for me, at least) is a refreshing change into something that isn't so hardcore, and a lot more polished.

So sure, go ahead and burn me alive.. but my first time through wow is going to be now, when all the problems and bugs have been fixed. Is it a cakewalk now? Good, less time i need to spend punching a dummy who hits back based on a script, and get back to pvp.

Anyone who's an avid Civ player saw this same thing happen with Civ IV when it came out. What a piece of buggy trash it was, and now after some serious patching it's arguably the best Civ ever. Civ V will likely follow this same path.

Aside from some LOD pop up issues, (the air conditioners popping into view) it didn't look too bad, heavily scripted, but that's the way single player games from big studios are these days.

one time play through then you're done.

Battlefield always has been a heavily multiplayer focused game. I'm sad that the campaign is scripted, i'm actually not at all interested in it for this very reason. I would have preferred something as simple as bots and an objective to complete on maps.

Really getting tired of the rail shooter type gameplay fps' seem to be churning out to add more explosions in... anyone remember Hidden and Dangerous?
