I've played MW2 and i've played Bad Company 2..

I have had more fun playing BFBC2 than I have any shooter since Battlefield2, or perhaps even 1942. I had a lot of fun with Battlefield Vietnam (playing the Bird song, running over ****s)

Bad Company 2 is a fantastic game. EA or not, it is a true achievement in gaming for bringing everything together the way it does.

Besides, its the first DX11 shooter!

Yeah i'm not exactly sure I understand the "Battlefield is SO UNREALISTIC" argument.

This is a game (since its inception in BF1942) been about arcade vehicular/infantry mixed combat. Jump in a plane, fly upside down, jump out , pull a parachute, drop directly into a tank..

Anyone arguing realism with Battlefild obviously has no clue what they're talking about.

It's just like George W Bush. It doesn't matter what that man does now, people are going to bring up negativity and hate no matter where the man speaks.

His reputation precedes him, but I also agree with Blue.. we're no better for playing the same game he is, and unfortunately I dont think there's a way out of it.

Let me clarify what I mean. I'm not opposed to hate when it is warranted. For example: Ubi's DRM preventing customers who bought their product from playing. I'm one of those suckers who bought the lifetime subscription. To me, I feel lifetime subscriptions are worth the money if you can see yourself playing it 3 years from now. I don't mean continuously, but it removes the feeling of need to play because you're paying a recurring subscription. I do agree however, that the price is rather high.

I really enjoy the game, the ship combat is excellent (and very thrilling), and the ground game is basically Champions/City of Heroes .. so its solid in its own right.

I really like what they've done with the game, some bugfixing and you've got a real gem here. I'm not going to say its a "wow-killer" in terms of numbers of sales or whichever, but I do believe this will be a successful MMO in the way that it won't die in 3 months.

This will be Cryptic's gem, imo.

You know, at first, i wasn't a fan of Derek Smart.

However the guy is determined and does not waver in his opinions and I can really respect that. He talks to the gamers directly, and isn't afraid to throw in his two copper.

You know what, Derek. . I'll check out your MMO. I have not played any of your games, which (if i was to) would be a great starting point? What is your flagship game to date?

Good luck with this one, WoW dumbed us down so much in regards to MMO's the Hardcore PvP crowd is getting shafted.

Warhammer is coming into its own, and its going to take the full year before the game is anywhere near comparable to WoW in its synergy. However everything is improving, including the population since last patch.

The game is fantastic imo.

You know, i've been an avid reader of Blues for some time. I've noticed a large change lately; and maybe it affects more sites than just Blues. Comments are getting a lot worse for trolling. There was a time where people wouldn't complain about EVERYTHING but its so bad right now i don't take anything anyone says now seriously.

Demigod is a fun game, with some launch problems. Released too early without enough testing. They are up front with their customers and you can talk with the dev's right from within the game. They respond, too.

Stop complaining.

What i'd ultimately like to see in this mode, is a smaller campaign map; or smaller maps.

This would allow for more of a pick-up-and-play type of campaign, along with the possibility of more than just 1v1

You do throw historical accuracy out the window, but it IS a game.

So much hate toward Steam, yet it is all unfounded.

Steam has been fantastic for a lot of people, and it solves a lot of problems for the publisher AND the consumer.

-Cheaper to distribute, means more money for the publisher/developer
-Centralized friends list
-Automatic game updates
-Easy as cake to install, right click "install game" and come back later
-Ability to re-download your games
-No need to keep discs while the steam service is running

What happens when steam is no-more? Likely, and i'd hope; that they'd offer a steam client which works without the steam servers, which can read your steam backups to install games.

Steam has a fully integrated backup system so that you may burn your discs at will.

Hate on it all you want, but it sure beats standing in line hoping you got a boxed retail copy before they were sold out; you could be playing the game at midnight from a preload.

People hate DRM, but Steam offers the consumer so many benefits its really the proper form of DRM.

$22M on a game likely also includes a lot of advertising; licensing and reproduction of the game/discs themselves...

as opposed to one of dsmart's games which see maybe 100,000 units sell and has little to no advertising at all. I havn't heard of the guy outside of Bluesnews, and the only reason I have, is because of his outlandish remarks he makes to forum users.

Designing games that have mass-market appeal unfortunately takes a bit more than $250K.

Wouldn't the best way to tell how PC gaming is faring, to check on gaming video card sales? That should help gauge how many systems out there are capable of playing the latest games.

Since when do people take the mentality that games are just for kids? Where did this happen?

Those of us who grew up playing games AS kids, are no longer kids. We are adults, and we have made gaming into the industry it is today. Games like Grand Theft Auto 4, are just like gangster movies or any other violent R rated flick.

If your 8 year old son is bothering you to play GTA4, and you buy it for him and can't believe the game is full of violence and sex, its called read the damn box, its rated M, and it cites EXACTLY what is in the game.

Not meant for kids. I have ZERO issue with banning the sale to minors, however i have a major issue with censoring games to adult gamers who have every right to play GTA4.

Derek, it isn't about understanding your archaic control scheme. It is about making a game fun, yet challenging.
