This was an interesting article and it was somewhat candid.
I ran a very large guild on the Ironfist server when it was active. In fact, I think it was the largest on the server, certainly on the Order side. Our focus was Open RvR; fielding 50-100 people and capturing zones. We were a dominating force.. until you get to the bug ridden city.
It's nice they've addressed the city siege, but they've also removed fortress battles, and Land of the Dead was an absolute terrible idea.
I dont think LotD should have been open as often as it is. It needed to be open during certain times of the month. Since one side dropped to go to LotD when it was open, it left the campaign wide open for the other side to take and wait for timers to flip the zones.
What they did wrong was try to be too much like WoW, heavily scenario based and they forgot about the Open RvR guilds. As people got bored people left.
We had 400+ strong membership... actively playing. They all basically quit at the same time, and everyone was fed up.
They had a real gem here, Warhammer was a fantastic idea but poorly executed on some of the most important details. The IP is fantastic, the lore, hell even the gameplay wasnt half bad..
What sucked was the fact that there was a WoW mentality by the players that smaller numbers were more "elite", and that larger zergs were bad. This is a Wargame, and who can rally the most and be the more organized wins...
i dont know, i'm ranting.. but i wish the game was still going strong as I had a blast with it.
