Hard not to expect failure. Romero never admitted that "Daikatana" was a total wreck. If he can't perceive or admit failure, I don't see how he can produce a good product

Very happy to say I loved the game. The only issues I experienced were the same ones that plague nearly all XBL games, that being retarded XBL users. The game itself was a blast. I'd still be playing it with my buds if Bad Company 2 hadn't stolen us away.

He lost all my respect back when Ultima Online was realeased. The lag made the game just about unplayable. Yet all he could talk about (then and now) was how much money the game was making.

From what I understand, it was a design decision. And after playing the game (a lot), Recon class (sniper) going prone would make them practically impossible to kill. I'm glad there's no prone.

Remember the good old days of the first C&C games? They shipped with two CD's, allowing you to install on two pc's and play with a friend. Starcraft allowed you to spawn copies to play multiplayer. Guess we've come quite a ways from that time.

We can only hope (perhaps in vain) that this will be a major debacle and the people who do buy it will demand a patch that removes the need for a constant, perfect internet connection.

No strong feelings here one way or the other. I continue to enjoy MW2 on the 360. Both sides of the ded server issue have merit. No easy answers there. If you look at the prevailing market for games, developing for the console market is simply a no-brainer.

From what I gleaned in that article, George comes accross as a conman, and not really a good one at that.

I'm sure George has many negative qualities but you didn't read the article at all if you really think he's a conman. He's a naive, ambitious dreamer who was never happy with their product and ultimately kept forcing them deeper and deeper into feature creep. It's the best example of someone not understanding the value of money - he made too much money at a young age and was convinced the world would wait for his ultimate product no matter how long it took and no matter what the cost.

What George needed was a boss, he never had one.

Agreed. From everything I've read, George is a true gamer and wanted to make DNF the game to end all games. He was simply in WAY over his head and could never admit that to anyone. Including himself.

Perhaps you should check your facts before being so quick to cut others down. I purchased this game on Steam and it is STILL showing as unreleased, even after restarting the Steam client. Again, Steam has messed up.

Fair enough... But I would hardly qualify that as an "epic fail". Guess I just reacted a tad too strongly to that hyperbole. Don't mean to be a Steam fanboy.. haven't played PC games in a while. But when I did, I used Steam frequently and never remember having a problem. My bad..

So now we have to wait for console games to catch up, which won't happen because most of the console gamers have the attention span of a gnat and aren't exactly smart people.

Um.. that's just a little bit of an oversimpflication, don't you think? Most of the Xbox gamers I know are intelligent and professional adults.
