Not exactly surprising. As soon as you go the public company route then you are immediately at the mercy of the investors/shareholders who are in it for their dividends.
Once it's stopped paying out then they will push for a breakup/sale to maximize their own profits. Employees are just another expense that the investors don't give a shit about.
It's even worse for those companies that are listed as you're immediately at the mercy of the short sellers, no ones ever in it for the long term.

Yeah, I mean it's not like it would have an escape pod or anything.

Ok...So what happens when someone shoots the escapepod? NO wait. Dont answer that. It doesnt matter anyway, this game is ages away and its obvious that Chris Roberts will cater to the MMO crowd first and foremost.

Are you actually going to actually read any of the copious amounts of information already posted about this? Or are you going to continue to latch onto a single line, before kicking off on another rant while completely missing the point yet again?

I remember playing wing commander on a 286, and being jealous of my friends with 386's as they could use emm386 to turn their extended memory into expanded, which enabled the game to show your hand on the joystick moving in tandam with your input, and the vidscreen in the cockpit to show your wingman talking to you.

Also burnt by AoC. The combat/movement mechanics are so much better than any other mmo on the market and the graphics/environment are still top drawer today which shows how amazing they were at release 5 years ago.
Funcom completely fucked the content though. The big draw for myself and a lot of others was the mass PvP content (combos, fatalities, etc) and the promise of mass siege warfare in R Howards world.
The sieges were still continually crashing years after release and the PvP side of things got zero love so the people (who hadn't already left after exiting the starting area and finding that Funcom hadn't actually completed the rest of the game), moved on. In an attempt to stop the hemorrhaging FC started to churn out more and more half-baked PvE content (which was dumb as majority of PvE focused players had already left), before going F2P.
AoC could have been amazing. It was such a disappointment that FC fucked it the way they did...

There's really nothing Blizzard can do to stop this method of hacking since it falls on the user for using the same information and not using an authenticator.

That is nonsense. They can establish 2 step authentication and log computer access. A user account and password will suffice once you've logged in with a certain computer. If they see a login from a computer they havent seen before then two step auth. If the person has your email as well then u are kind of f-d. This is why users need to establish different login details on that email.

Steam does this, when you login from somewhere they don't recognize they won't do anything until they verify you can get into the email associated with the account.

That is what blizzard should be doing. Using the authenticator is a lazy solution and an indication that the company doesn't want to deal with the additional security measures that are becoming standard on everything else.

We're blizzard, we can have shit security if we want.

Blizzard has shitty security and could do a lot more. People using the same username/password combination across their email, gaming accounts, online banking and some wanky fansite are what I would refer to as technically retarded and deserve everything they get.....

Whilst I have little love for EA over what they did to Origin, Bullfrog and now Bioware, I have to admit that John's quote did make me chuckle.

I picked up a roland MT-32, CM-64 and an SC-88 off ebay over the last couple of years for sod all money. They're all connected to my windows 7 pc via a roland USB to midi converter.
Playing U6 and U7 via dosbox with the full intended midi is pretty fucking awesome. Hell even U8 isn't that bad once you get over the stupid jumping puzzles.

It's not just EA. Most publicly traded companies have layoff's just before christmas if the quarters figures aren't looking as good as they'd hoped. Sucks for those people who are now searching for a job on the run in to christmas, but hey, it's all about shareholder value right, and the balance sheet looks better without all that extra expense on wages and benefits? (fuck short-termism)

Playing a bit of the demo, not sure if it seems as fun as the first one though. I'm going to buy it anyway because of TYRANIDS, but bugger ordering it from steam now they've started that regional pricing malarky. I can preorder from Steam for £34.99, or choose to order it from play.com for £24.99 (30% cheaper!), thats just ridiculous. Anyone from the EU region needs their head examined if they are buying this through steam, you could even buy Soulstorm through steam (to access the beta) and then order DoW II from play and still save money compared to just buying it directly through Steam itself.
