Correct.Last time I recall having the issue was around January. Some people reported getting the TDR issue in Firefox but it's never happened to me on 2x8800GT SLI or a GTX480.

Regrettably I still get the TDR problem even with 306.02 drivers (560Ti), only fix is to set firefox to performance mode in nvidia control panel. Using driver sweeper between driver upgrades doesn't help. Only thing left to try is an OS reinstall and I don't feel like doing that right now.

I have a Palit 560TI Sonic and had that issue for quite some time.

I managed to get it under control by disabling Nvidia Powermizer via registry entries and forcing constant voltage in MSI Afterburner at 1.025

Now I have to find and carry around antibiotics to deal with this stuff.

I hope they add defecation in the next patch along with toilet paper as an inventory item. If you don't have any after taking a dump you get a discomfort penalty for running around with a shitty ass

Nice write up spindoctor!

I came across some guy who was AFK on the shore outside of Tulga and I went on my way after looking at him for a bit... same guy showed up in Tulga 10 minutes later and shot me in the back about 7 times as I was crawling around trying to not aggro the zeds

@PHJF
DayZ runs on a real-time day/night and lunar cycle. Full moon should be back June 4th.

Or you could play on a UTC+4 server if you want daytime around the clock.

I ran it undeclocked for a while until I said to myself "FFS I paid for a factory OC'ed card and its gonna run at those speeds!"

And did it crash underclocked? And do you mean by underclocking your overclocked card that you went back to regular clocking?

If it doesn't crash at regular clocking, but does crash overclocked, then you got your solution.

I stopped overclocking about 10 years ago - it's just not worth it.

Yea it worked fine on stock speeds, however the TDR and stability issues were definitely related to nvidia's drivers. the official nvidia driver forum had a very lengthy thread about it and a cs rep admitted they had an issue with TDR crashes.

I'm trying to squeeze all I can out of this Q9550/DDR2 rig I built back in 2008. The difference in BF3 on stock speeds vs overclocked is around 15-20fps on my setup.

@wildone

I've been battling with stability issues on my 560TI for quite some time now. The 285.62 drivers have been the only ones that hold it together prior to the 270.xx series on my 560TI OC

I got this card just for BF3 and every time I've had a hard lock while playing after a driver update I roll back to 285.62, update my physx to the latest version and curse nvidia out loud.

I had and still have issues with TDR on anything but this known good driver.

I ran it undeclocked for a while until I said to myself "FFS I paid for a factory OC'ed card and its gonna run at those speeds!"

Upping the voltage a bit (1.025) seems to be all it needed, that and disabling nvidia powermizer combined with a manualy set fan speed/temp ratio in aferburner keeps it at around 55C under full load and it has been 100% stable.

This series is playing the "tragic death oh noes" card way too often, particularly as nobody trains anyone in ACTUAL useful combat techniques, melee and silent take-downs, heck you could even use leg-slings (yes, like those in medieval times) to slow down zombies. It's kinda sad when the "redneck" is the only one with a proper clue in a series. Even RICK continues to shoot and wave his gun around, and so far he is a prime responsibility for each and every zombie attack. Lesson, ban guns. Allow NOBODY to carry one, step 2 - find silencers+compatible weapons, have EVERYONE carry them.

Screw that. Find a military base, get body armour and vehicles mounted with M60s anc crates of Law's rockets and some flamethrowers. Then go out and start mowing the zombies down en-masse.

As an assault weapons enthusiast I think the most practical firearm to fight hordes of zombies with would simply be any .22LR semi-automatic rifle with a magnified optic and preferably a suppressor.

Those slow zombies are impervious to anything but a brain scrambling head shot. Why waste good high-powered ammo when you can get the same result with a .22 long rifle cartridge and easily carry thousands of rounds with you in a shoulder bag?

Save the good stuff for killing the degenerate gangs of people that will want to rob you and rape your women lol.

I hope it's a consistent engine for MP/SP this time around. I didn't care for the fact that they used UT3 for single player and frostbite for the multi.

I really enjoyed the level of detail they dumped into the single player campaign. The fact that they had different makes & models for the AKs was a nice touch.

I also liked how they included the blurred outline of the KillFlash cover on the Aimpoint sights along with very well modeled sight pictures for all the other guns in the game.

On the other hand the MP weapons looked like generic bubba'd weapons with airsoft-grade knockoff tacticool accessories and poorly modeled sight pictures.

I've read of people doing this to get the north American unlock times

Maybe if it had better graphics. But why in the fuck would ANYONE buy a game with outdated graphics when there are so many games to buy and play that have much better graphics than this. VERY POOR DECISION!!

I mean, I love the idea of realism; but these guys lost my money. No fuckin way I would throw them even $10 for this old shit engine.

I remember Andy McNab doing various bits of news commentary on stuff like Larry King live back in the months after 9/11.

He always appeared heavily concealed behind a shadowy silhouette and distorted voice to protect his "real identity" (Andy McNab isn't his real name either)

Not to sound too Arm-Chair-General here but from my understanding, these cash-in novelists who served in these cloak and dagger black ops units are generally looked down on by their former colleagues.

People like Eric L. Haney (Inside Delta Force) and probably better known for his co-producer role for that mediocre CBS TV show "The Unit" are shit-listed from actual veteran reunions...

But what the hell does he care, since he made a small fortune exposing the exploits and experiences that are part of his line of work.

Anyways, I’m sure it will be a pretty good read for anyone who likes these boots on the ground stories, whether it is fact or fiction.

"Don't be such an idiot "Dr.". You know damn well what we mean."

Mhhh I'm pretty sure the "Idiot" commentary is yours and yours alone here Mr. venomhed.

Might I suggest you go and bump e-chests with some of the fine veteran folk that mingle about the militaryphotos.net forums? (There's plenty of Battlefield fans among them as well) I'm sure they'd love to be told how they're all a bunch of psychotic murderers and if you ask nicely they might even tell you some firsthand accounts of gunning down unarmed civilians while laughing hysterically and perhaps even some sadistic murder/rape stories of women and children

I'm trying to understand here how the topic of this thread directly relates to accusations of war crimes committed by the U.S. Armed Forces...

Christ, if you read some of the accounts of the shit that happened in both Chechen conflicts you'd think the U.S. was fighting abroad by handing out Christmas presents and forcefully administering affection-filled hugs

This SP campaign looks fucking epic. and not in the bullshit MW1&2 cliche ridiculousness. Considering they're not using fictional factions but rather real units in a real war we see everyday on the evening news.

However, I have no sympathy for anyone using suicide tactics. Period. End of story.

So you find it justified when the IDF uses military retaliation that kill more people per air strike than all the casualties ever taken from suicide bombings in over a half century?
