look at what the idiots are voting for. the two abstract art pieces that nobody will buy?

they should compromise and ship with #3. it is okay. the original was bad enough to cause a stir, so dump it for #3.

diablo 3 is broken/unbalanced/bad from top to bottom.

I mean class design. class resources. attributes. skills. the whole shebang is not very good!

the reason pvp was never coming is because you can't have pvp in such a fundamentally broken game. everything is unbalanced. the unbalanced things are unbalanced!

it took diablo 2 5+ years to become as awesome as it is, and they had decent people working on it.

will game historians be able to draw a line between games made for fun and those made for money in this modern era? are there two clear sets?

there was a time when people made games for fun. they made games they wanted to play. the classic developers say this in interviews.

this game is basically NS1 with better graphics. NS1 is a good niche game and could hold a few hundred people playing at any given time.

NS2 is doomed to the same fate as NS1 because the developers have no foresight. They've made the same broken, niche game again.

side note: if you think you can do a "commander mode" in a game, you probably can't. I know because nobody before you could. this is a holy grail of gaming, and it takes more than copying warcraft into an FPS to do it.

the pvp delay is tied to them having no idea what they're doing. pvp was never coming.

> For me, there's no difference between Origin, Steam, Uplay or Windows Store.

the difference is Origin, Steam, and Uplay don't have the ability to one day stop you from using Windows Store.

when was the last time anybody gave a shit about freedom on an iphone? not very often because the people who are happy with the iphone ecosystem don't know what a walled garden is and don't mind being part of a monopoly. they don't mind everything they see and do being filtered by one company. that is what this is about. if microsoft becomes like apple it will be a negative regression into the dark ages.

the future is freedom unless you're a fucking farm animal. jesus h christ these apologists

free to play games are just a rediscovery of the computer game demo. the demo went away during the last console cycle because they were popular enough to eviscerate computer gaming altogether. now here we are again, learning how to do the demo.

do you just give them the start of the game? do you cripple them?

it is like when this stupid "DLC" idea came along which had to rediscover the expansion pack.

people don't want dinky waste of time expansion packs, and people don't want broken un-fun demos. the point of the demo and free to play AND the full game is to make you have fun so you want to pay to have more fun. whether paying more means paying for the full game or paying for an expansion. it is all a twist on the same shit!

if developers studied what worked and what didn't in the past they wouldn't be fumbling so blindly right now

they didnt let you SPRINT for a while there? come on

What a dumb statement. The previous versions used the UE3 engine, and managed to not be "a shooter", so why does the change to the Frostbite engine somehow mean it'll be a shooter? The engine has nothing to do with what type of game you end up with. Hell, they are using the Frostbite engine to make a new Command and Conquer, and that sure as hell isn't a shooter.

The previous versions of Mass Effect were more and more shooter over time. Bioware Montreal's greatest accomplishment is Mass Effect 3 multiplayer WHICH IS NOTHING BUT A SHOOTER. So what's dumb is your face

In other words, "we're making Mass Effect a shooter now because those make a lot of money. It seems like Halo anyway so why not."

Mass Effect (1) was right on the cusp of a special kind of excellence. Really close to the kind of game-of-the-year-5-years-in-a-row excellence that KOTOR struck gold with. But they missed it and slipped painfully in the wrong direction.

RIP Bioware. Long live EA.

this says more about the market than minecraft.

minecraft is pretty trashy, but every boy with a brain likes building and destroying, and the virtual lego market is a virtual wasteland. so here it is, ruled by an independent game. that's okay-ish.

but comparing the sales to myst or whatever is roughly stupid. it is like comparing the ticket sales of gone with the wind to SAW, or the players of half life to farmville. or the ad buys of the bachelorette to the cosby show.

every year these sorts of records are broken because of economic and population changes rather than what anybody did. that is why smart people invented ideas like "per capita" and "adjusted for inflation". and why dummies believe that the last "highest grossing ever", or most popular movie ever actually was so when it kind of wasnt.

I think we've all forgotten a little just how the number of computers have changed over 10 and 20 and 30 years. compare the sales of myst per windows computer at the time to sales of minecraft per windows computer now. we'll see why myst is a big deal and minecraft is just another game.

PS: that "best selling PC games" article is typical of an obscure wikipedia article: incomplete and misleading because it is maintained by retards.

if this is supposed to be an elder scrolls game then why does it look like EVERY MMORPG EVER

if they're wise they're implementing serious actions to not become like the games they're copying.

elite is awesome. I still won't pay money for nothing. most kickstarter projects are scams for the gullible. a payment for nothing as a donation to the well-off that gets you no tax credit.

let me play an unfinished game. show me work. show me progress. then I can decide to invest or not. I for one don't spend on faith. there are too many other things to spend on that have cold hard results.

what the fuck is wrong with these people? GOSH!

they learned about splitting the community with the FIRST expansion pack. they've been splitting their communities ever since, and now this. how can you be so obtuse?

the best part about ns2 is you can safely assume they will update it significantly for years and for no cost. the way games used to be made.

the diablo 3 design puts too much weight on the item system, and the item system isn't good enough to support so much of the game. it is pitiful actually that they launched a game incomplete, untested, broken and without knowing how to fix it.

Many of the games once I buy them I don't even run steam.
