The new patch changes so much that it is basically a new game. It destroyed my character, for it no longer exists as it did! Some patch!

And a diablo game without trading isn't diablo. World of diablocraft. Sad. Deleted

I gave both these videos a chance. In both the developers don't care about the players who care about the game. Their only goal is sales to the lowest common denominator.

Don't support Blizzard when this is their mission statement.

what a waste of talent. 15 years we've seen these expensive (everquest?) remakes which barely hobble along paying for themselves

Those horseless wagons sure are useless. I see no reason why we should all be switching to them when our regular wagons are so much cheaper and more efficient.

STEAM OS IS NOT FOR SWITCHING. IT IS FOR SELLING STEAM BOXES WITHOUT PAYING FOR WINDOWS LICENSES. YOU GUYS ARGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

there are a lot of idiots out there. they need steam os and steam boxes even if for no reason other than extending your windows gaming machine. for those of you who aren't aware, windows costs $100 bucks and steam machines can play windows games across the network without spending another $100 bucks.

derp.

Two issues with your derpiness:

1) Most people, "idiots" as you call them, buy complete PCs. They don't make their own. Therefore, they already have Windows and don't need to pay $100. In fact, they already have a computer and don't need to pay $400 for a Steam Machine

2) Steam machines actually can't play Windows games. They're Linux boxes. The only way they can run Windows games is via in-home streaming, which isn't available yet. This is using tech I believe licensed from NVIDIA and used in the shield. In other words, your Windows PC runs the game, but it streams to your Steam Machine. So your input goes from your controller to your Steam Machine to your PC, which interprets the input and sends video from the PC to the Steam Machine to the TV.

Derp!

jeez thank you for totally making my point by missing it

huh. Maybe someone can clue me in here....but looks like a pay to win scenario? The more I spend up front the better ship/s I get?

"pay to win" came from mmorpgs where you don't do anything with your brain. in theory you need to actually DO things in star citizen which change the outcome of your game, rather than just click and watch.

but if everyone is equal to you in abilities and has paid more, then yes, I guess you're fucked. well, not necessarily. a lot of the things you can spend money on are not clear advantages. like buying a ship with more action positions. or a fish tank for your hanger.

independent, caring developers will add improvements like this in a patch. big companies will just let the game die. don't be the bastard who complains about this game getting extra attention. it's $5 for a patch, which is better than $0 for a dead game.

remember the guy who said nobody would buy the game because everyone interested had already donated? some people have no perspective. as if there aren't enough nerds in the world for this to make sense.

the game isn't ruined by easy trading, the game is ruined by being a shitty game

if whiners don't like their enjoyment affected by easy trading, they can stop trading easily and go back to scrolling chat and forums and wasting far more time not playing the game, just like POE players are doing right now.

people are sensitive about things. each thing has a person somewhere who is sensitive about it.

the sum total of humanity is sensitive about everything, and if everything was censored to make everyone happy, nothing would be left. the only solution to global sensitivity (that isn't scorched earth) is tolerance.

chris said he hasn't accepted big outside investment. and that his goal is to crowdfund the whole game. this is old and frequently written news

there is no game yet right? if you are irritated by watching the development process, you should not watch it

I don't think that is accurate. $14M and there is no game yet. There will be more people buying the game... when there is a game

I'm skeptical they can deliver, but I'm not skeptical they can fund it.

approximate numbers:

after a year of pre-production and a year of public development, they've got 2 years left on schedule. chris says he needs 25 million. they have 14 million?

so, 30% into the public development, and they've got 50% of their funding?

the next 365 days will see the hanger and dogfighting modules, and more finished ship and game designs than we've already seen. most everything so far is prototype or theory.

to not fund, they will need to screw up pretty badly. they must crush a lot of dreams to not get the $11M in 2 years after getting $14M in 1.

my only question is how fun will it be, and how much content will get done. we'll judge the latter on how much their announced milestones slip.

my interpretation of the current star citizen deliverable schedule as announced:
- ship hanger in august 2013
- team deathmatch in december 2013
- planet/outpost first person social multiplayer and trading: Q2 2014
- beta of the single player game: Q3 2014
- beta of the full multiplayer: Q4 2014
- gone gold: H1 2015

I'll take bets on the 2013 schedule. over/under is they slip 1 month, so hanger slips to september, tdm slips to january. choose your fate
