Whatever, dickhead. I'm well aware that you're an insecure little troll who doesn't understand that the universe doesn't revolve around his videogame opinions.

Are you just typing random words? I'm neither insecure nor trolling. Go beat up your dog or something you angry little man.

In your case it seems to be only flowery fanboy defense for this game. Must offset all negative comments about game because I enjoy it!

Uh, that is not correct. You are having fun because you had low expectations, not despite having low expectations.
You see - you had low expectations i.e. you did not expect very much from this game and the game offered more than you expected and that is why you are having fun.
If you had high expectations than the game would have under-delivered and you would not be having fun.

What an asinine twist you put on his positive comment.

Also, for those who have issues not being able to talk in party/guild chat - try leaving your guild and getting a reinvite. It worked for me.

Edit for 2 more points:
1. They said the chat issue is next on the fix list and quite possibly going to be fixed before the next Tues maintenance.
2. Yesterday's scheduled maintenance was finished 5 hours early. Blizzard still hasn't managed to do that.

Nice fail on detecting Fibrocyte's annoyance with KilrathiAce's use of "lol" and a throw-away comparison to WoW.

I caught it just fine, thanks captain obvious. He isn't the grammar police, nor is KilrathiAce's opinion any less trivial than Fribrocytes. Clearly you failed at the irony of my post.

You obviously didn't get it the first time and this is just your attempt to save face. Nice.

Back to the topic at hand: I understand this rule isn't posted. What I am saying is once you are aware that it isn't proper activity then you should cease doing it. Whether you know not to do this by reading the forums, getting warned by an administrator, or just being born with common sense isn't really relevant.

EDIT: Disregard, apparently according to Bioware via Reddit, low-level farming of Ilum is okay.

Unless they decide it isn't. They said if a lowbie goes and opens a chest he won't be banned, but if you repeatedly "exploit" the resources you will be.

That is even worse, if you cross some moving, arbitrary invisible line, they can temp ban you. Basically, you can open chests and you only get banned if they feel like banning you.

Just fix the mechanic, it is so easy. Level limits on the chests, area, scaling the loot to level, ect.

This is the worst of the culture that infests MMOs. If you don't play the way people think you should, you are cheating and should be banned. It is like people who try to put arbitrary "no spawn camping" rules in games. Either the supposed spawn camping isn't a problem or the map is crap and no one should play it.

How about not doing it if it isn't what you should be doing? If you didn't know (really?) then you'll get a warning. If you do it again, you deserve a ban.

This is hardly different than speed limits. You have the option to go over the speed limit even though you shouldn't - but when you do, you're penalized. Or should the government put governors on all our vehicles?

Just play the game as it was intended. This is not a single-player game where you can exploit something and it only impacts you. Some of your actions in an MMO impact others and you should act accordingly.

Mis-post due to Blue's primitive website design.

I did not subscribe because it did indeed feel very much like a single-player experience. This game probably would've been a lot better as a non-MMO multiplayer game (ie you can play it with a few friends or online folks). This game doesn't seem to try anything new in the MMORPG gameplay department, aside from adding a meaningful story and quests. I don't think that's enough, sadly.

Did you try playing the game with other people? Believe it or not, that'll eliminate the single-player feeling unless you're only doing space battles.

I've not had bad queues, around 20 minutes for a full server. Didn't really have a choice to go for a low population one because I had the full 7 days of early access.

What is really annoying me at the moment is that I'm locked out of the game until I sign up for a subscription and their subscription link times out all the damn time. They got my CC details when I bought the thing off Origin, why do they need a subscription until my month runs out?

Yep -- and if you follow their twitter thread they just took swtor and the ea shop offline to try and fix this. This is unfortunate.

It seems to me that swtor has a queue to enter their website (smart) and the ea shop does not (dumb).

Sadly, we can't play until we subscribe.

Bhruic wrote on Dec 21, 2011, 20:29:
Character transfer is a common request for these servers. The ability to transfer your characters is being worked on, but there is no ETA on when it will be available.

That an MMO would launch today without thinking that maybe, just maybe they should have character transfers ready for launch is mind bogling.

I'm finding myself saying that about of lot of things in SWTOR. Some rather curious oversights, like no LFG "dungeon" finder. No filtering by equip slot or attribute properties on the auction house. The inability to move UI elements about, a sin compounded by the lack of any add-on support. No target of target display, no defensive target mechanism (I know of the focus target option, it's not very useful) etc. etc..

While I've noticed most of those things, too - they somehow don't detract from SWTOR being a very solid MMO.

I'm not a Star Wars fan and was really expecting SWTOR to be disappointing but in fact it is quite good. Even if I stay interested for 2 months (my 1 free month + 1 paid month), I'll feel I received good value from it.

Some things I like:

1. The Crew Skills (crafting) system. It is unique and brilliant. I can craft while on the go and almost never need to roam around zones collecting items - my companions do it for me.

2. Companions. They're integrated into the story, the have some personality, they are quite useful outside of just combat (can craft; can run off and sell items for you while you're out in the field, etc). When you do use them for combat, they're effective.

3. The look and feel. SWTOR is very different than WoW and that's a big attraction for me. WoW is great and they did an excellent job, but after so many years it feels tired and dated. I've heard people complain about SWTOR graphics and I just don't see it. Its perfectly fine for an MMO in my opinion (also, I hear enhancements are coming soon).

4. The Quest System. If you're patient enough to care, the quests are rather engaging. When you engage a quest giver, you get an in-game cut scene where they talk to you and you talk back, etc... and the voice acting (all that I've seen so far) is very well done. I played a Jedi Consular from levels 1-11 and the quests were serious and that was fine. I then started a Smuggler and my character is a cocky, flirty, jerk and the conversations I have with quest givers are actually funny.

5. Flashpoints. I have limited experience here, only going through The Esseles so far, but I like what I've seen and hope they remain interesting and fun.

6. Combat. The combat is good for an MMO. With the Consular, the up close saber combat was neat but what I really enjoy is the smuggler and the whole cover system they've implemented for him. I hear some people in the game love it and some hate it - I personally like it. It adds a nice twist to combat.

Of the cons listed by Longswd, I would say that no addon support is kind of harsh. I originally made a Consular (now a Jedi Sage) to be a healer but am too used to the Healbot mod to go back to the manual mundane method of healing.

Heh, this got a chuckle out of me.

Anyone know if registering the retail code ends your "free" early access period? It looks like that period will go till dec 22nd so me being the cheap ass gamer i am don't want my paid subscription starting until the 23rd.

You have to setup billing info when you register with the code I assume? Did you notice what the first billing date will be?

Registering the free access code did not end my early access period as far as I can tell.

Both my codes were readable, too.
