For a second I thought the "mouth open" comment was referring to the expression I'd make over how horribly expensive these are.

ummm...so when is this going to be released today? ugh.

As of this moment, it's out for PC. Whether you'll actually be able to play, or whether this doesn't break a million other things like most other major Left 4 Dead updates is another story.

Where did you read that? The only thing I've ever heard Valve say on the topic was that they were undecided.

If you're looking to move away from playing a game about playing guitar to playing an actual guitar, wouldn't it make better sense to just buy a used guitar, take the 5 seconds necessary to learn how to use the fret markings and learn how to read tabs instead? It's basically the same thing the game is trying to do, except probably 50% cheaper.

Can the Power Gig guitars and basses plug into an amp? Looking at the pictures, I can see a 1/4 inch jack which I'm hoping isn't just for looks. . .

Man, I remember back when Quake 3 Arena came out with its shiny and new cd-key security system for multiplayer and a bunch of scoundrels DDoS'ed the authentication servers.

Thankfully, as opposed to these clowns, id Software actually had brains bigger than peas and had the foresight to temporarily lose the requirement for a valid cd-key should the authentication servers fail. While this meant people who downloaded the game could play multiplayer, it also meant the paying customers didn't lose access to the game while the problem was dealt with.

Wolf3d at 12 here, and Forbidden Forest at 5. I'm probably the biggest peace loving, yin yang wearing pacifist hippie you could find around these parts.

Your system restore is making snapshots of your entire Steam Apps folder? Dear Lord... How much space are you wasting on that?

By default, about 5% while running 7 and 15% while running Vista, this is running on a 1 terabyte drive so, nothing really noticeable with my 7 installation.

It makes snapshots of changed files on the entire partition, with emphasis on the word changed.

Everyone is "wasting" that 5% or 15%, this is default behavior since Vista unless you turn it off for some strange reason.

I'm surprised I didn't think of it before, but those who lost files and are running Windows 7 can simply restore them using the system restore feature. Quit Steam and right click on the partition where the steam folder resides, click properties and select the previous versions tab, pick whatever restore point is most convenient and just copy whatever files you're missing. In my case I just dragged over the entire Company of Heroes folder, restarted and Steam picked it up.

What was the charger jumping exploit?

The time between you initially grabbing a survivor, stopping and when you actually begin pounding him or her enabled you to either jump or melee, using melee would let you hit the survivor for an extra 10 points of damage, while jumping would enable you to drop them down otherwise impossible to reach killer precipices.

Edit: A video will probably explain this better.

The one thing I'd ask of MicroProse would be for the creation of another Midwinter title using the Crysis engine.

The only thing you need to know about XII is that it *finally* removed the separation between battles and exploration, which means no more loading screens in between. That alone makes it worth it.

It'd be an interesting experiment to clock just how much time you waste looking at stupid screen wipes and black screens when a battle begins on any other JRPG.
