Is it a sad state of affairs that my decision to purchase this game or not hinges squarely on the type of DRM used?

It's not necessarily that the whole brand is bad, but that certain lines of models come out the gate with a shit load of problems and it causes an uproar in intertube-land. People could be doing fine with X brand now, but all it takes is for them to release a single clunker and their entire reputation will go down the crapper even if the next model they release is the most rock solid drive on the market.

And of course, the thing about it is that if a line turns out to be shoddy, the problem doesn't rear its ugly head until much later when millions of consumers already have the drives in their PCs and browning shorts worldwide over massive amounts of lost data.

This was most recently seen with Maxtor's DiamondMax line, with the drives failing to be detected over a BIOS quirk that some crap engineer overlooked while the drive was in its design phase. Very easily fixed, but only if you have the hardware to do it.

Seagate's Barracuda 7200 and ES.2 lines also came out with a batch of screwed up drives where the drive would fail to read completely even though the platters are perfectly fine, due to a circular reference bug within the event logger built into the firmware. This particular batch of drives can be fixed with a swift firmware update, but only if you do it before they fail completely.

So yes, when it comes to buying a brand new, unproven hard drive, it's pretty much a crap shoot when it comes to quality regardless of brand.

Question to those of you who plays ArmA2 or OA. What kind of joystick would you recommend. I want to grab a joystick to fly the helicopters and not sure what to get. Don't want to spend a fortune on it either, just something cheap that will do the job.

Any recommendations?

I get along just fine with a bog standard 360 gamepad, I use it to drive or pilot the vehicles.

If you want an actual stick, any of Saitek's low end offerings do the job just fine, they're cheap as shit too, about 20 to 30 bucks give or take.

Heh, it's refreshing to see these guys can have fun with the whole mess that was Magicka's initial release.

Still have to pick this game up, I played it briefly at a friend's place and liked it.

At first I thought the Rooster Teeth guys were exaggerating with the whole "ass maggot" thing, but no, that's really how the game's dialog goes.

I'm not 100% sure here, but this might be the first game to include the phrase "I'll kill your dick!" in it.

@FrostDmitry yeah of course your mig-35 could kill an a-10. thats because a-10 is not a fighter it's a ground attack plane. Its designed for air to ground missions. The mig-35 is a fighter. The two are completely different planes.

You want to talk air to air? Try fucking with the AMERICAN F-22 Raptor. it will eat your pussy ass mig-35 and shit it out while our A-10 teabags the fuck out of your ground forces

have a nice day

The Youtube comments area is generally a toilet, but someone always comes along to prove me wrong and restore my faith in humanity.

Heck even the JSF could do it and it's not even a dedicated superiority fighter, it's a multirole fighter that turns like a slug but should theoretically defeat a MiG-35 due to its more advanced stealth suite.

Epic take note, that is how you make a trailer. I mean, I don't even like flight sims and I want to buy it now. Just need a stick. Does it work with FreeTrack? xD

probably a bad idea. I'd be way out of my depth >.<

It works with the Ka-50 module with some tweaking, so it should work with A-10C as well.

Being from Juarez myself and having to deal with this horse shit on a day to day basis, I'm not exactly jumping at the opportunity to have it shoved in my face in a video game, the local news does that just fine thank you very much. Hearing about the 17 dead we had last Friday didn't even faze me, I'm still not sure if that's good or bad...

Mind you, not that the game should be banned, that's a downright moronic proposition.

Seeing what they did with the Ka-50, I'm crossing my fingers that they do the AH-64D sometime in the future, preferably with a networking mode so both a pilot and gunner can connect to each other and pilot the same craft.

If you want to buy this game, please buy it directly from Frictional. If you buy the retail version, THQ takes a hefty cut and the developers make less money.

If news sites start reporting on game leaks, each site will need to hire fives guys just to keep up.

Game reporting sites, leaks happen all the time, it isn't news.
