I enjoyed the original. However, this trailer looks terrible - even considering that it's a budget title.

Agreed 100%. It looks really bad.

He's just pissed that the Windows 8 app store is going to cut into Steam's "turf". It's a disaster for Valve, but competition among app stores is a good thing for video game developers/publishers and video game customers.

Perfect example of why government shouldn't use taxpayer money to invest in specific businesses. Other than the Wall Street bailouts and the bailouts of GM and Chrysler, which both the Democratic and Republican parties are guilty of, the three worst examples of this kind of stupidity are Solyndra (brought to you by Barack Obama and the national Democratic party), 38 Studios (brought to you by the Democratic party of Rhode Island), and Evergreen Solar (brought to you by Governor Deval Patrick and the Democratic party of Massachusetts). If you want to bring jobs to your state or to your nation, lower the corporate tax rate across the board, and improve public education by firing bad teachers and getting rid of tenure at public universities. Curt Schilling is indeed a hypocrite for accepting taxpayer-funded loan guarantees -- it's just corporate welfare.

This is not surprising to me at all. Although I have switched over to being almost exclusively a console gamer, I bought Diablo 3 during the first week it was out despite the fact that I loathe what Blizzard did with making the game require an active internet connection to log in and play even single player games. In fact I am hoping that this is a temporary piracy-prevention thing during the launch timeframe, and that eventually Blizzard will issue a patch which will let single player games be played without an internet connection. All they have to do to make that possible is prevent single-player characters from being used in online multiplayer games. Other games (e.g. Sacred 2) have already done that.

The browser market share data that article is based on are total crap, based on what I read in the article itself. These kind of statistics don't exhibit those kind of weird unexplained spikes and discontinuities unless you've got problems with your measurement techniques that are causing data artifacts.

It will only be the equivalent of Skyrim in terms of graphics. I do not think there is a free-to-play audience of 200 million for a game like Skyrim because Skyrim's gameplay and backstory are too complex and time consuming for the kind of mainstream audience that could generate a player base of 200 million. To get to 200 million you need a fundamentally different, dumbed-down style of gameplay designed for those with short attention spans. Plus, you will not attract any of the current true hardcore gaming audience with a paid cheating business model where you are constantly nickeled-and-dimed for every meaningful in-game upgrade. You will have to try and find an audience among the crowds of sheep playing Zynga games.

This is clear evidence -- Blizzard is in the process of fucking Diablo 3 up. There is no reason after this long of a development timeframe to have to make such major changes in the game design. It sound like these changes are driven by a desire to make the real-money Auction House more tempting by nerfing the crafting capabilities within the game, and reintroducing lots of crap loot to make it seem like there is still a lot of loot when they are probably going to be reducing the drop rate of good items to boost the real-money AH.

I'm sure 38 Studios and EA are thrilled to hear about this delay. Everything I have read lately about D3 is making me less and less interested in it. At this point I think the game runs a very serious risk of simply seeming out-of-date when it finally gets released. I know they are differnt types of RPGs, but people are getting used to Skyrim visuals, and there is honestly a ton of fun loot to pick up in Skyrim, so Diablo 3's main attraction as the "king of lootfest RPG's" is becoming less of a differentiator as other games also implement fun loot systems now.

Umm, maybe you should give BF3 at least through Christmas to build it's eventual long-term player base before you compare it to games that have had a full year or 2 years of sales in order to build up their player base.

To have true comparability between the violent and non-violent games, the non-violent game should have used paintball guns and had the rooms drenched in blue paint. All they have shown is that action games distract the player from in-game ads. There is no proof that violence is any more distracting from in-game ads than an equivalent form of non-violent action. However, perhaps their goal was to demonstrate to advertisers that they might be better off putting their ads in games which have less action in general.

Creatures was the worst and most disappointing game I ever purchased, with the possible exception of Black & White. I both cases, the much-hyped AI was all hype and no delivery. The stupid creatures wouldn't learn anything I taught them and tended to die prematurely for no obvious reason.

Interesting that of the US-based tech journalists, only 1 out of 6 uses an iPhone exclusively, while 3 out of 6 use an Android handset exclusively. However, the iPhone seems to dominate in western Europe. The rest of the world seems split between iPhone and whatever is running on those Nokias.

This sounds like a move that would facilitate buying and selling used games. My guess is that the staff will be trained heavily on how to push the used game side of the business, because BB will make a lot more profit off of it than new games.

It's nice they are going to give something to players for free, but I would honestly rather have the Casino add on for free as well.

Scattering a few more wrecks around the islands to unlock a couple of additional cars does not sound like "premium" DLC to me. It sounds like something quick and easy that only took a few man-hours for them to create.

Both Google and Apple should just give up on web browsers. Neither of them can beat Firefox (let alone IE) for market share, despite the fact that they give their browsers away for free. They been trying for years, but nobody gives a crap. Firefox serves the needs of anyone who doesn't like IE.

I've found TDU2 to be in much better condition than TDU1 was on release. It's not without flaws, and quite a few of them, but compared to many MMOs it is pretty smooth.

The game world is excellent and graphically, Ibiza and Hawaii look superb and are fun to explore. The world is a bit dead, not as bad as TDU1 but it still lacks life like NPC traffic (which exists, but is very light) and pedestrians (non-existant). The handling isn't great but acceptable, IMHO, and the different feel of each vehicle on different surfaces is nice. The plot is stupid, but it introduces you to different aspects of the game quite well and is otherwise ignorable. Have any racing games ever had a good plot?

It's TDU1 rehashed, basically. If you liked TDU1, you'll like this. If you didn't like TDU1, there's nothing new that will change your mind.

One thing - how do you sell cars? In particular the trophy ones, like Miami's pink mustang thing? That's just wasting garage space.

I think the reduced number of NPC vehicles on the roads is a good thing. One of the problems with TDU1 was that NPC traffic got in your way too much when you were trying to complete an objective.

That looks like it would adapt to a console extremely well. It almost looked like Marvel Ultimate Alliance or Sacred 2. Movement and those sustained-beam attacks would work perfectly with a console controller.
