That happens during development and this sort of thing is why developers should never interact with the public. Everything is suddenly a promise and if a feature doesn't make it then the people who wanted it take it as a personal slight. Whether it was in the game at some point and cut or never made it, the effect is the same. I'm sure many of those were present but didn't make the final cut. Sony should've just stuck with traditional advertising campaigns instead of parading Murray around on late night shows.

Still, let's not pretend this is routine. It's extremely rare to be able to come up with a list of cut features that long. Either because developers are smart enough not to publicly over-state the feature set of their game, or because developers don't cut out so many things they've previously said would be in the game. Everyone knows that the feature set of a game gets adjusted during development. But when the developer doesn't tell you things have changed, holds back reviews until the last minute, and then dodges all criticism after the fact, you're crossing over from routine development into scumbaggery.

No Man's Sky is an outlier in terms of what it was sold as versus what it is.

A common refrain from NMS fans is that the game is "exactly what they expected." Given that Sean Murray had a lot to say about the game, much of which was false, I can only guess that the people who are saying this had their expectations set by the skeptics and not by Sean Murray. The game is exactly what skeptics said it would be, and not exactly what Sean said it would be.

People get up in arms over a simple graphical bait-and-switch where the final product isn't quite as visually dazzling as the first E3 demo. And this is much worse.

No matter what Univision does I will only ever remember them for those wacky telenovelas I'd see while flipping through channels years ago.

Sounds like you know very little about mental illness, autism in particular, and even less about how wikipedia is run and managed.

Feel free to enlighten us if we're operating under incorrect information. But from all the Wikipedia drama I've seen, and the talk pages I've read, I think I have a pretty solid idea of what the average wiki power editor is like.

Wikipedia is full of no life autists with axes to grind. Wikis in general are like that. The compulsive editing and updating of a single-purpose page is like fucking heroin to autistic people. It's routine for wiki editors to be banned from participating in certain topics because they get way too invested and start to think they own particular topics and pages.

As the article points out, it is ultra contentious for articles about living people. In addition to that, any article about any currently ongoing events is going to be a shitty battleground.

Wikipedia isn't about accuracy in these articles, it's just about factions fighting to ensure THEIR version of the truth is the one that gets written. If you can get the Wikipedia page slanted to your side long enough, some writers will parrot what they read there as gospel truth, and then the Wiki editors can then use that writer's articles as the reliable citation they need to seal the deal. It's the magic of citogenesis, where Wiki editors can generate whatever truth they prefer and create the illusion that they sourced that truth from somewhere else when in fact it came out of their own rectums.

No amount of patching will fix this game's shortcomings. It's just not a deep enough game to satisfy most of the fans of the genre. Aside from the unlikely scenario of them fundamentally altering the gameplay loop to add some element of persistence or increasing the variety of situations you can encounter, what you see is all you're ever going to get.

Waiting for the inevitable PC version anyway. It's interesting though that a game in development for like 10 years gets a last minute 2 month delay.

What??? 2D isometric game? Witcher-like? You guys are crazy. VTMB was amazing because it was what it was. Sure, some elements can be translated into other types of games, but you'll lose the sum of its parts. One thing's for certain: it needs to be first person. Being somewhat linear is also pretty important. Maybe if they make a successful sequel they can start thinking about making it open world or changing some aspects of the game. I liked all the Witcher games, but nowhere near as much as VTMB.

Yeah, I agree. The overall structure and presentation of VTMB was a large part of why it worked despite all its technical and production value shortcomings. Trying to make an isometric RPG or some non-linear sandbox game would just poop all over it.

I can't think of anyone involved who I would consider credible. Is TotalBiscuit involved? He's pretty good. I don't think Sarkeesian is the devil but I don't consider her particularly credible either - when I've disputed criticism of her, it's because I didn't agree with the specific criticism.

Nah TotalBiscuit and Sarkeesian aren't tangled up in any of this garbage. Very early on TotalBiscuit said some stuff regarding GamerGate as far as saying that people shouldn't dismiss the need for more credible games journalism just because of the smears on GamerGate that were going on at the time. But he moved on when the rest of the mainstream media did.

I think Sarkeesian is a scam artist who produces too little for the amount of money she gets but she definitely doesn't stoop to hanging out with all these mental patients in their little chat rooms. She's smart enough to try and stay mainstream, and doesn't have a checkered past to haunt her. The two things get conflated a bit by ignorant journalists but Sarkeesian's shitshow isn't really related to the whole GamerGate debacle.

Almost all of the drama still coming out comes from this little cult of a dozen or so Twitter addicts. It's the same familiar faces every damn time.

That dox thing isn't surprising.

A lot of the prominent "Anti-GamerGate" folks have branded themselves as "Internet Abuse Specialists" or whatever, as if they have some actual business that does something real to help people. They don't.

It's just a way of marketing themselves in such a way that they appear to be experts in a field. But it's a field that doesn't exist. This way they have better chances at being interviewed about things and setting up whatever narratives they want. More importantly, it helps them get donations as they appear to be doing something instead of just panhandling.

But if you actually look into these people and their pasts, "Internet Abuse Specialists" actually seems pretty accurate, if you mean that they specialize in abusing people on the Internet. People like Zoe Quinn, Mandi Harpoons, and Sarah Nyberg all have lengthy histories of being associated with communities known for doxxing, harassing, and just generally being shitty edgelords.

In short, they are people who spent years being liked by nobody, and lashing out at everyone. But that doesn't pay for their meth habits.

Now many years later they flip the script. Now they position themselves as victims and the advocates for victims, and rake in the Patreon bucks from people with a lot of money who want to feel like they are doing something good without actually doing anything. They are still reprehensible human beings, but positioning themselves as victims and sticking together makes it impossible for anyone of importance to criticize them or point out their shittiness. You can't do so without being dogpiled, doxxed, and run off the Internet.

It's just a creepy little Internet cult no different from any of the others. They use the same shitty tactics to harass people they don't like and get attention and donations for themselves.

Saw this on reddit. Apparently Metacritic is getting bombed with fake positive reviews.

One guy made the joke that the user reviews are procedurally generated.

They probably hired some astroturfing company out of Russia or some other dark corner that specializes in social media. I posted on an MMO forum about the game and got attacked by someone who almost literally copy/pasted the same bullshit response to any criticism of the game.

They are just trying to Correct The Record (TM)!!

Garbage game. This was actually the first time I've used Steam refund though so it served as a good chance to test it out. Only took a few hours to get my refund processed.

Terrible performance. Terrible interface. The most distracting and nauseating graphical effect, the chromatic aberration, cannot be disabled.

Purchased it. Performance is incredibly shit on my monster computer even at medium settings with no AA. Interface is also pure console shit. Frequent crashes.

Steam refund processing. If Steam refunds didn't exist I wouldn't have even tried it out. This is a $10-15 game IMHO.
