It would be rather nice if there was mass bannings for the BF series. I realise they do try... but no matter the security there will be botters but they really need to ban hammer more and have a more active anti-cheat setup.

Sorry but PB fails in everygame... all it ever does it fail to work and boot you from servers at the worst times and yet the hacker is still in there happily destroying the game.

The BF2 patch fixed somethings... but mostly it reminded the hackers that it was the place to be =\ I'll wait until the player count has dropped again so there is a chance they are legit players rather than botters etc...

I greatly doubt it's going to work, all the power to them, but I doubt they get anybody doing their "pledge" over $100 even though you can do $3000.

It all kinda gives me the creeps =\

Wow China is such a interesting place. While other countries look at internet addiction and go "lol as if addicted", China is right in it's face trying to stop it.

Mmm... guess somebody should get working on a Cultural MMO experience with micro transactions and a small monthly fee ($1 a month of whatever suits the chinese market). Maybe add a WoW type arena mode for the competitive mode with awesome fights like... The Politician vs the Historian!

Guess it's more of a Pre-order gimmick like always.

I like Star Trek and all, but from watching the video with the "It's a tank ship, a dps ship and a support buff ship", I don't expect great things =\

I still live in hopes of more Firefly... picked up the boxset at a dvd shop one day and read it. "Meh looks arlight, and on sale for $20 (aud mind you).

How my perception of sci-fi western changed from "haha cowboys in space is silly" to "THEY CANCELED THIS?? WHY!!!".

Go go firefly! I'm a real sucker for good sci-fi =\ Even had my missus paying attention to SG1 instead of listening to her Twilight books crap =D

I gave it a go awhile back when it first released. My biggest issue was healing and health potions. You were limited to only a couple of poitions which you pretty much had to use real money or get a healer class in your group which was at least lvl 15 for the good healing.

Meaning for the first 10 levels I had major issues unless we had a higher up.

I don't know if it was just me doing something wrong or they really expected you to constantly buy health poitions or what but you were still limited to 3 per "instance".

Interesting game, but didn't like the mechanics of staying alive at lower levels without spending lots of real money for poitions.

The last time I voted, I was amazed I was not asked for any kind of ID whatsoever. I game my name and address and that was it. To me, that just screams potential vote fraud...

Finally, Ogre3D will be MIT License from v1.7. The Ogre3D folks specifically are changing the license to make it even easier for commercial and non-commercial developers to use the engine.

Right on the money my boy. Excatly why I plan to use it in the future.

Seems a lot of people here misunderstand open source. You can use the engine without a single code change as long as you are willing to deal with any issues it comes with, but Ogre3D also has a support section in which the developers of Ogre3D help you for a fee and they often use this to stay in development and fix issues in the engine/add features.

Game looks good, hoping for a multiplayer option sooner rather than later though, wanna smash some monsters with my brothers.

Interesting to see what this is. Read a rumour (think it was Destructoid or Joystiq) that it might be developer tools style release. Like a developers toolkit but for a smaller scale.

Take that as what it is though, a rumour.

On the take of A-list fps developers, they sure have changed over the past few years. Not a lot in the way of quality FPSs coming out with a nicely fleshed out story line (Borderlands doesn't count, crazy RPG/FPS spawn). Give me a game with some guns, no levels or xp and a nice linear story line (but make it fkin epic) and you'll have me.

Bonus points for co-op support and decent mod tools (level editor and scripter for easy access). Mmmm... I can see a gap in the market that needs filling!

There are many games with excellent story lines. But also many with lame predictable stories. I don't believe the issue is that they are game stories but it's who is writing them a majority of the time.

Most games don't have an actual writer on staff, they just use the game designer. Unfortunately a great game designer isn't always the greatest story teller, they really are 2 different aspects of game development.

On the article I tend to disagree with him greatly, there are many games that do excatly what he asks but within a limited degree. Some of what he is asking is unrealistic to keep a game being a game. A game must have competition (win/lose situations) or at least a goal to achieve (sims, bigger house, longer life etc..). So creating a story that is within the gameplay is one thing, but when the story is the most important aspect the gameplay will suffer (MGS series suffers from this, 20min cut scenes).

Even Planescape (which is awesome!) gives up gameplay elements for the story which is having to read a novel of writing, while game with a faster pace will have a character talking via comms to you. While it may appear the story is just simple it's often the way in which you are given the story that is lacking which is usually limited by a factor (writers ability, context, gameplay, budget).

Then again, some games just don't need a big story. I still play Counter-strike and Quake 3 Arena to this day. What story? It's still damn fun sometimes.

Disorderly Queue is right on the money, I was sitting there the other day thinking just that for servers...

Of course it would have to be designed and impletmented. The whole "world" factor of each server would lose something I guess, but at the advantage of being able to join a less populated server for get your raid/instance done without hassles. No doubt you'd end up with more popular PVP servers and PVE ones, but really I don't see this as a negative as you get the choice. Plus it would allow all players to see how much scale the "massive multiplayer" aspect comes in when at times you'd never see the same people twice.

One can hope =)
