Do you have anything to backup that with? I'm rather interested in the whole episode. Reminds me of something out of a sci-fi flick, they go in and steal the servers just after a natural disaster/nuclear issue and run with the goods.

Now that's some intelligent and crazy hackers if so. Very opportunistic too.

I hope it is not in the dire sense that some are taking it to mean. In general, I dislike playing with other players as virtually killing someone holds no interest for me.

Yeah stuff that virtual murder thing, nothing beats the real thing.

Remind me to avoid you in real life then Advocate

News Comments > Down Under Steam Pricing
3. Re: Down Under Steam Pricing Apr 15, 2011, 11:55 RenownWolf
I tend to buy direct from the US to avoid all of this, most games just need a cd key for steam.

Been happening for years, consider that the Au dollar is at 1.01 (it's more than atm) and that for a xbox 360 game brand new is $100-120 and that in the US they complain about $60us. Give me the US price any day, it's far cheaper.

Plus I get to skip on GST (10% tax) on purchase, and even with postage it's cheaper by far, even better with sales.

Greedy publishers or distributors are the issue, and they won't get the extra from me. I often skip on games altogether, although I wish I could enjoy them, but at $100 a pop (or $50 when on sale) it's just not worth it.

News Comments > 15 Hours of RAGE?
7. Re: 15 Hours of RAGE? Apr 6, 2011, 23:27 RenownWolf
Err how is a 30 minute movie even close to a 15 hour game. 15 hours is pretty impressive as it is a lot longer then the usual 5-6 hour fps games currently being released.

I sure as hell don't want all my games being Final Fantasy style with 60+ hours, where it doesn't get interesting until after the 10-20 hour mark.

I'd prefer a good 1-1.5 hour movie over a 3 hour movie that bores me to death. 30 minutes... really, that's just silly.

A never able to released mod becoming a stand alone project.

It will be interesting to see where it finally goes.

The days of trying to get enough extra memory free in dos and IRQ conflicts are gone... OH NOES!

I've never bought a top of the line part for my PC due to the fact they just cost a crazy amount for at most what seems 5fps. A playable game with High (not even ultra) is fine by me. Most games I play I lower the graphics to smooth things out, make things clearer or the like.

Ahh last time I played with a multicolored screen with basic shapes was Q3A and it was the best looking game at the time. Get that 125fps to be able to do the trick jumps.

I agree things on the PC have slowed in the last decade, but with some of the new hardware meaning that devs can use simpler tools to get games out faster, within budget or indies actually getting to release without doing John Carmack style ASM optimizations that's fine by me.

Umm... they state in the article and show in the video, user input is still required, while it would mean that buttons do different things in different contexts you would simply press a key instead of hitting a mouse button.

Imagine having access to the keyboard with 2 hands because your hand is free and your eyes and doing the directing. That is where it will be awesome. I can see simulation games doing really well with it.

Even other applications like Jets having their aiming systems tied into their eye directions while they fly. Those guys already have insane reaction and response times... deadly!

The Red Cross is a business more than a charity. I won't give them dime one. And does Japan, arguably, one of the richest countries in the world need donations? I mean we're not talking about the third world like Haiti or Sri Lanka here. They have the means and ability to look after their own.

You're American aren't you?

Ahh Bulletstorm review by ZP was quite on the mark from what I've seen.

Also, I assumed droid was in relation to star wars with half of them being rusting buckets that fall to pieces. Didn't know it related to android phones.

*sigh* The stupid gets stupider.

Also, I must have managed to live a sheltered life, never dealt with drugs, never even seen any of the illegal stuff (although I can tell when somebody is on it...).

Since Jack Thompson got shutdown there seems to be a limitless supply of retards to take up place to make themselves look stupid attacking a hobby =\

IIRC, Epic kept 70% when UDK first came out, but several months ago changed it to the 25/75 split it's at now.

You get access to Unreal Script (which is able to call DLLs if you need something done in C++). It includes all the scripts for UT3, and assets (which you can't use in commercial projects). It's got all the content creation stuff through Unreal Editor and its constituent parts (Kismet, etc.), it's got Scaleform GFx for awesome UIs, it's got physics, it's got FaceFX, it's got a lot of documentation and support. Even without access to the engine's code you've got a lot to work with.

Epic always has had it set to keep 25% of profits after a set amount. It was previously $5,000 of profit after others took their cut, now it's after $50,000.

The assets that come with UDK can now be used as well, that was changed mid/late last year.

I read the WIP section for interests sake, but a few have shown it's very difficult to do anything but a 1st/3rd/perspective game with it. Still interesting to see what people are doing with it.

It's amazing how well Blizzard avoids leaks. The recent leak from China was bad, but that's the worst they have had in years and they managed to deal with that pretty well.

More appeal then WoW? I fear that, it sounds very console moment, but you never know... Be interesting to watch!

It's heaps long, and annoying with it's shitty flash loading for each page/video. But this is the timeline leading to homefront from the offical site.

Offical Site Timeline

Imo replace North Korea with China and it could happen, especially since China has history with a majority of the Asian countries and would have no issues taking over Korea + Japan + Indonesia + Thailand + Taiwan etc... which would bring ever more cheap labour and electronic know how. Which could then lead to them taking on the mess that is Russia etc...

The world can change quickly, even if it takes 10 years most are blind to see what is coming *cough* WW2

Gahh after 3 edits can't get link to work properly due to the # copy and paste is your friend.

Yay! After the last fad if MMORPG/FPS and before that RTS games, now it's casual gaming's turn.

Amazing to watch all these companies chasing their own tails all the time. If they though trying to get 200,000 sales from regular gamers at @$50 a pop was hard, try getting millions just to make $1-5 a pop... yay...

Such awful economics =(

Once you've watched it you can't unwatch it, muhahaha!

Also, it appears that nearly everybody is an African American (well not all, but a lot). Reminds me of those creepy Microsoft ads where there is 1 of every race around. Yay! Let's be PC friendly!

we live in a world where a pile of shit like Lady GaGa sells millions and someone truly talented like Amanda Palmer has to rely on fans for pocket change.

This news isn't surprising in the least.

And such is taste, I went and looked her up and didn't enjoy. Then again, I don't like Lady Mangaga either.

Back on topic, everybody loves the idea of a sniper, sitting hidden waiting ready to take that perfect shot to kill an enemy... Though I'm scared as hell of the day they have robot snipers... fkers would be so fast they'd be aimboting irl!
