News Comments > THQ Director Blames Piracy for Iron Lore Closure
60. This was almost believeable... Mar 4, 2008, 06:16 Lesaonar

I love a good intelligent rant. But this definitely isn't one of them. Not even 3 paragraphs in he complains, and I quote 'One guy went so far as to say he'd bought the retail game and it was having the exact same crashes, so it must be the game itself. This was one of the most vocal detractors, and we got into it a little bit. He swore up and down that he'd done everything above-board, installed it on a clean machine, updated everything, still getting the same crashes. It was our fault, we were stupid, our programmers didn't know how to make games - some other guy asked "do they code with their feet?". About a week later, he realized that he'd forgotten to re-install his BIOS update after he wiped the machine. He fixed that, all his crashes went away. At least he was man enough to admit it.'.

Anything else past that has as much credibility as that statement alone. He's essentially saying that any time one wipes their HD, they need to reapply a BIOS flash. Irony at it's finest. Complain about someone not being able to play the game, due to lack of understanding of their hardware, yet hasn't even a scintilla of knowledge regarding what he's complaining about? That whole paragraph is nothing but falacy, which puts any other statement he made into question.

Actually this will affect gameplay. Think about it.

Sorry I should've said game mechanics, which is the only thing nerfing covers. And it's only going to affect gameplay if you actually need that to make the game world as it was originally written. Or need to finally be able to pull your pud to a digital rendering of a woman you'd never get to see that way in RL. Not all of us are pimply faced little geeks that need digital nudity to make our lives seem more fulfilled. I'll look to my wife for any RL nudity I'll need.

Either way, it's not that important.

Sorry mate, but this is hardly nerfing the game as it's not going to remotely affect gameplay.

Just let the game die allready. Was a great idea at the time, now it's just an albatross around any company's neck.

Can't pirate an MMO? Someone's been living under a rock... Never heard of emulated servers? Especially WoW. Easily downloadable client from blizzard, quick change to a single file and you just pirated the entire game.

Free to play, but you still have to pay the $60 for the software. Beta'd it and no way in hell would I bother.

Unfortunately, using the BBB isn't going to do a whole lot. There's nothing they can do to stop the NIMF from making false statements. A defamation class action is a different story, as long as the original documentation can be found as used as evidence.

Maybe it's just me, but possibly more a perception ideology. I don't see jesus at all in the ultrasound, what I do see is the grim reaper with his right arm up flipping the bird. I'm not being sarcastic either, that's exactly what I see

8. Yet another rushed expansion... Oct 4, 2005, 18:25 Lesaonar

This one'll be a flop just like TOA. I still have friends on Pendragon (test server) and Midgard part of this expansion is still bugilicious from what they say. WTG Mythic... So glad I cancelled my subscription about a year ago.

News Comments > Ships Ahoy - DAoC: Catacombs
11. ... Dec 8, 2004, 14:46 Lesaonar

I played Pendragon (test server) and Pendragon only for 3+ years. Got into every closed beta and this is no different than any of the prior expansions and a lot more like EQ. TOA started the EQ mentality with DAoC, Catacombs adds to it. More timesinks with little worthwhile content/backstory, new classes that are far from balanced, updated graphics that look worse than the originals and the list goes on and on.

Mythic is a sham, and almost all the people I regularely played with on Pendragon are gone. Can only take so much of the same old same old and complete disregard to testers input before you finally decide to click cancel, break your CD's and delete any/all evidence that this mockery of an MMOG ever even was resident on the HD.

Placing any type of trust in any statement made by Mr. Broussard is like investing in the Phantom game console. Game's been vaporware for years now. Anyone with an IQ higher than a parboiled potato would realise that.

'Actually I find that there are alot more people now then ever before.'

North American servers during primetime PST averages are approx 24k, a month ago that would've been approx 26k. Not many people I play with and/or were involved in NF beta, myself included, have decided to stay with the flaming load of feces that is DAoC. 1st adding evercamp mentality with TOA, and now the ever messed up and extrememly exploitable NF. They can keep their MMOG. Come catacombs I don't expect many of the remaining people I know to still be playing.

They know people are starting to cancel even more with NF out. TOA had enough people cancel, NF has caused even more. Wonder if they'll go the EQ route and do this every few months? 2 months left on the accnt and then buh bye Mythic.

'Tell me, where is the RvR in EQ?'

There were PvP servers that ran based on either lighty or darkie or neutral (no different than DAoC's RvR in a lot of ways) in EQ. So obviously you thought nothing or had much comprehension past the carebear server you probably played on.

TOA wasn't supposed to change RvR according to Mythic and NF was supposed to assist underdog realms in RvR. Who did it end up benefitting on release? Any form of caster, archer or stealther (not even going to get into the LOS exploits of animists). Who became pretty much obsolete and delegated to running siege? Tanks and tank hybrids. And as for TOA, it's nothing more than evercamp all over again.
