Im pretty lazy, but thats orthogonal to the issue at hand. I don't like giving out personal information, and I get particularly chafed when it is required for minor things like patches. I would be upset if others in the game industry did the same thing, and so I am voting with my wallet.

Despite all the flack that this game has received, I'm really interested in it, though I have yet to purchase it. The only sticking point I have right now (besides not having a joystick) is that you have to register on forums just to get patches. Even though this game might be gods gift to privateer fans, I might give it a pass because of that.

Sounds like you need to get cracking on making a game, and making it right.

Does look pretty cool. If it really is coming out q1 04 like one of the videos says they have kept an incredibly tight lid on it.

Aside from some stellar opportunities for astronomy, there doesn't seem to be too much that the moon has to offer in terms of a place to pitch a tent in the old fashioned non sexual sense.

Better ratchet up the cost year after year because if you give people food and shelter, they will procreate like rabbits.

still seems certain heros don't use their skills in some situations. it seems to be a directional thing, like making treants or planting serpent wards. I ocasionally have problems with unit targetting skills just not happening when I use them as well, whether targetting on the map on in the subgroup. Nondirectional one-click skills like stomp and fan of knives seem to work fine though.

I dont recall them mentioning it was a bug in this latest patch. Perhaps they view it as a 'feature'.

Likewise on the reinstallation of alpha centauri. Hmm.. Now to play with the expansion, or without?

Are you referring to Larsen B by any chance?

http://nsidc.org/iceshelves/larsenb2002/

It is a big chunk of ice, and by conservative estimates has been around for 400 years. Could be part of earth's natural processes. I don't have the perspective to know. And no, it wouldnt raise the sea level one iota, since it was floating on it anyways. It was pretty big though.

Kent: Professor, without knowing precisely what the danger is, would you say itís time for our viewers to crack each otherís heads open, and feed on the goo inside?
Professor: Yes I would Kent.

I agree that the engine is phenomenal, the gameplay needs a little work. It would be really nice if GPG would license the engine out to people who could come up with top quality titles- put themselves in id's position, basically. Also, would be nice if Chris Taylor would convert the engine right back to rts and made a total annihilation type game again.

The only thing we can do I suppose is talk about it on messageboards to generate buzz.
