Bethesda logo, not id, correct (I may have missed it.)

Supports my theory that id isn't going near this and it's being farmed off to a lesser dev. Which isn't necessarily bad, few people loved Rage so a new team may be able to bring in new ideas and take different risks.

Id did too well with Doom, I think, to revisit this. Maybe had Doom not done well, but Doom was kind of explosive. Hard to imagine them stepping back to a dead end after that. But what do I know, devs and publishers do weird things.

But the Doom 4 trailers had Bethesda on them. Its how they market as a publisher.

My guess is that new-iD is making this since they made Doom 4. What else would they be working on? Doom 5? I'd think they would want to do something else besides Doom.

Beth publisher umbrella:
Machine Games - Works on Wolfenstein only at this point and Quake
iD Software - Doom 4
Arcane Studios - Dishonored and Prey

If I'm wrong, I guess we'll know soon.

Yes I prefer the WW2 settings, and wasn't sure how well I would like RS2. It has really grown on me though. I'm hoping RO3 will explore the WW2 settings they haven't covered yet. I still play RO2/RS1 on occasion. If they just move RO2/RS1 to the RS2 engine and add a few maps that would be gold.

Yeah that would be nice. This new engine they have with 64 players and flyable vehicles is almost moving the series towards large scale stuff like Battlefield games, except with more realism.

Hmm, what would RO3 be though? I haven't tried this, looks fun though.

I wish they would concentrate on expanding the WW2 ones. There is so much more they can do in that setting, but so far its extremely limited to 'Stalingrad' but barely covers the entirety of the Eastern Front conflict or tech uses (the limited tanks). Rising Storm was great, but again seemed to only cover a limited aspect of the Pacific Theater. There are just way more theaters they can do, the Winter War would be an interesting one, for example.

I know they are a small studio though so that may be a tall order... it's just that they keep jumping Eras, so I would hope they expand this Vietnam way further than 8 maps. That conflict was huge, with many lesser known battles, plus they could add early conflict stuff such as the French loss at Dien Bien Phu, and when China attempted to invade after the U.S. left.

Maybe it'll be better this time around? The DOOM 4 was decent from iD, and that game Prey Beth published from Arkane did well, and also the new Wolfensteins they published made by Machine Games. Basically what I'm saying is, most of the FPS games published in recent years under the Beth umbrella have been pretty well received.

do you? i ordered a boxed edition and have had access to the keys through the backer portal for several weeks.

I'll check again, but I didn't see it or was looking in the wrong area. All I saw was my receipt for the backer box, which said it included a separate downloadable version.

EDIT: Duur, I'm dumb. I found it. "My Product" section of my profile on Obsidian's site.

I mean the person did a dumb thing, but it seems there was enough humans there to rush that bear instead of just standing there screaming and filming it. Only one person threw a rock and that was it.

FYI, this BattleTech game plays more like Front Mission than anything else, except with more free roam for mission contracts. The "hub" part of the game is a combination of Star Craft 2 and the "new" X-Com.

And like Burrito, said I can confirm that you DO NOT need to login. I went straight into Single Player without having to login. I did try to afterwards though, since I have a paradox account, and it logged in right away. There were server issues apparently right at launch earlier today, which I did not get to experience.

Overall, I'm finding it pretty awesome, although I did play the Beta so I already knew I would like the combat turn-based part. The story so far is intriguing with enough mystery to find out what's going on - the writing seems fine to me (I'm not getting YA vibes, it's about on par with some of the better BattleTech books like Betrayal of Ideals), the voice acting that goes with it is also stellar. Music is amazing. Easy to use interface. No crashes and the gameplay is smooth, action camera is completely customizable. There ARE optimization issues, the game slows down for me quite a bit when zooming in on heavily destroyed buildings. Also if you have ultra wide screen, the UI is not optimized for that yet (I don't have ultra wide so this isn't an issue for me but it will be for those that do have it).

I think HBS has an extremely solid base to improve on what they've made here.

Cutter, look into it before hyperboling.

As stated by devs "there is no server requirements at all, save games will not be affected, etc."

You only need to login if you want to play multiplayer against one other person.

VaranDragon wrote on Apr 18, 2018, 10:51:
The corny music is not doing it for me. Gotta say the trailer is pretty uninspired, and much worse than the last one. The soundtrack choice is probably the main reason why I feel that way, the other being that it doesn't really show anything more than we've already seen. I hope the destruction aspect won't be gimmicky.

Par for the course for PGI minimally viable? Everything about even the non-gameplay trailer of MW2: Mercs has the 'rule of cool.' Intense action, voice acting, fitting music.
Non-gameplay trailer for MechWarrior 3 (that narrator lol, good times)
Non-gameplay trailer for MW4:V.
MechWarrior 4: Merc Gameplay trailer.

I'm sure this re-invented MW5 may be a breath of fresh air from PGI's milking nostaglia tactics with 'freemium' at the very least. It does look way too bright and clean though, compared with the original gritty/lived-in look of the earlier MW5, others may have a different opinion than mine of course.

Still withholding hype in case it simply doesn't live up to my expectations. It could end up a buggy mess, or just lacking content in general since this isn't exactly a high production studio. They should show simply more than shooting at stuff, like with MW4:Mercs, what was fun for me was the diverging campaigns and selecting different planets. Show that. Show voice acting, dynamic moments in mission, etc.

Well I mean MW4 already had that All vs. All, but it was far more tunable by a server admin than this which seems to be some sort E-Sport Pipedream.

I'm waiting for the Switch version anyways. I don't understand why ports for jRPGs are bungled so much. This surprises me too, since playing the older Ys games from Nihom, the ports have been decent.

As far as Trump collusion, to me it is more likely that he is an idiot and has no idea if he has 'colluded'. Trump should, if anything, be immediately tried for War Crimes and Impeached for ordering an attack on Syria's Sovereignty which is a crime of aggression according to the Nuremberg Principles.

---

For 'McCarthyism', I don't know if Repubs throw around that term other than 'Witch Hunt,' but most Leftist news rags I read throw it around quite a bit. Some on the left say the term doesn't quite fit, since a lot people's livlihoods were really crushed by that Era; where others think it does as "lite" or "neo"-style in that it is seen as constant paranoia of the "other." We as Americans are constantly told we must have an enemy. The worst of this I saw was when PropOrNot declared many alternative/anti-war/activist media organizations as "Russian Propaganda" which I personally found offending, of which the owners of those site like Robert Parry of Consortium News did (along with counterpunch, anti-war, etc.). Not even Jill Stein, my preferred candidate was safe, who was also accused of being a Russian Collaborator which was nothing less than a smear on Third Parties - which is why for me personally I think the Democrat and Republican parties are complete trash for stooping that low.

---

For the article topics, we obviously do need to continually upgrade. The sad part is, when it comes to our government, they are severely outdated in many areas so it doesn't surprise me that Russian hackers get through. On the positive side, it's also job security for Cyber Security and Networking/System Administration.

On the flip side, this isn't a one way street. Our government has essentially militarized cyber-warfare and has been hacking/spying for decades, that's partially what Edward Snowden revealed. We do it too, so tit-for-tat really. We upgrade, they upgrade and everyone is trying to hack each other, that's the future.

It's also important to keep in my mind that between 1946 and 2000, there has been at least 117 electoral interferences known around the world. 70% of which were done by our government against other Nations. Clearly we are not the shining pillar on the hill.

No need to be smart ass El Pit, but that is your schtick. My point still stands. It's not hard to figure out what the game name means. Main Title Name - Number in Series: Subtitle Likely Plot of Game. And no Wild Hunt is not apples/oranges, before I read the witcher or played the games I had no idea it had anything to do with real folklore. Same concept. Complaining about the title of a game is ridiculous.

4. Re: Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA Released Apr 16, 2018, 23:38 Task

"Ys" is the land or continent in these games that the people inhabit. The subtitles of these games usually has to do with some event within the game. "Lacrimosa" is a process defined in that game that trigger something about an extinction event, in other words you would have to play the game to find out what it means.

Kind of like "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" for someone who has not played a Witcher game or is unfamiliar with European folklore would no idea what "Wild Hunt" means until they played it.

It's a jRPG Cutter, just look it up - the internet is at your finger tips.
