"lock-ups due to particular sound cards", thats a laugh. The sound cards in quesiton are any card made by creative. How many poeple (serious gamers) use other brands?
Creative users cant play the game for more than 20 minutes without it crashing the system. You would think they would have noticed that during beta testing...

+3 points for Sixis, Forever war was a great book,

would it be easier to make a movie? or a game of that book and retain the integrity of the material?

THis is going to sound ridiculous, but I have found its a common problem, especially with people who tweak their computers.

is your page file locked at a setting? or set to be managed by windows? More often than not, us tweakers have locked the page file at (what we though was) a very large chunk, BF2 however requires a LOT of ram (or virtual ram as the case may be). Several friends of mine who had CTDs and other problems were solved by simply letting windows manage your pagefile. My assumption is that bf2 requires more than the average ram, so that lock was simply too small.

-my 2 cents...

Its also nice to know they are threatening the PROVIDERS with penalties, this should make some isps take a stricter look at stats, etc.

Its amazing how many stat servers have auto-team disabled AND never have any admins. Since when were gamers responsible enough not to abuse the system

Its about time someone did something about the padders.. yay... Dice did a beta test and demo for the game, but didnt bother beta testing the stat system? Odd, their claim to fame was the automated systems against stat padders. Anyone remember when AA took a stand? their whole "We know when you are sheating, we have been recording you, so dont cry when we ban you and show you your documented cheats"? I wish EA would take a stand like that- no it wont stop everyone but its worth trying. If i wactually heard of someone beaing banned (read that as cdkey is unusable) for padding or cheating i would be happier.

You are right the only way to WIN is teamwork, but too often we see people doing their own thing to earn badges and such, regardless of the consequences…

I decided after the second week the game came out that stats should be just for me (or you) as the individual. Rank and stats really mean nothing unless you have earned them. Luckily its pretty obvious, just looking at what weapons (and vehicles) are used most, you can see the “obvious trail” of padding.

PS: whats a velocity check?

I've actually played almost all of the TR games at one time or another, and they honestly wouldnt be that bad if they tries to update the controls.
As it is they are the most iritating bunch of ad-libbed pc controls ever. movement is sluggish and tiresome, the mouse is near useless.

I am always suprised how they update the engine but leave the horrible console-ed controls the same.

"Definitely worth reintsalling D3 for, for this, and when the full version is released. "

I hope so, I always felt kind of ripped off by Doom 3. In the worlds of Penny-Arcade, "Wow (the latest from ID) looks great, I can't wait until someone builds a GAME out of it."

Yeah the game has some flaws but we're all still playing arent we?

Id agree that helicoptor flag capping has got to go, kinda takes the fun out of the game. As for Karkland, I like to play that and other maps with less vehicles simply because those maps signify what I bought the game for. Unlike the stat padders, I like those maps because I was all gung ho about the INFANTRY COMBAT side of the game. It looked cool, transporting to the battlefield, coordinating attacks, etc.

What really gets me is the misuse of weapons, yeha i know its always gonna happen in some way or another but: the ROCKET LAUNCHERS are used like grenade launchers, the Grenade launchers are used like shotguns, the shotguns are barley used ITS A MESS....

I honestly think they should have a minimum range for GLs and RPGs to explode, and or maybe just a wider blowback. Its pretty frustrating to face an enemy rocket launcher or GL from 2 feet away and have the guy who fired it not get a scratch. I figure if this behaviour ended in suicides more often it might lessen.

"Still amazes me how someone can be physically botherred enough to curse at a free mod. Dumbass to the max."

How else can someone prove what a hardened grizzled, no nonsense gamer they are then letting everyone out there know that you've 'seen it all'?

RE: the mod, It looks good to me, in the very least it gives me a reason to reinstall...

Allz i can say is 'yay'. There were so many things in this series that really got SCI-Fi creative juices going. so many pieces to a great game. After all, whats an FPS without an fantastic plot? mediocre. Yeah it was on Mac, but it will always go down in history as a first class title.

I'm not one to use this word frivolously but... 'yay'

I just saw it run and i agree, the cry engine is amazing. I cannot beleive the detial and fluidity. and none of 'the project' is prerendered? i gotta say... wow.

I have a gig of ram and an x800 but a really slow cpu by todays standards (athlon xp 3000 at 333mhz bus). I am not used to saying that performance of something was flawless, but htis was. aside from a small AF glitch in the grill floor, i didnt see a need for AA. PHENOMINAL....

and yes, doom was made for kids. impressive lighting but boring in the end...

Clipping has been a problem... but other than that I really like it.. Novalogic games have always had an odd presentation.. im no fanboy, but its fun as hell to pull off an operation with 60 other people on your team... especially when it goes off without a hitch....

One thing i gotta wonder about, not specifically physics but how many weapons can you carry? In both Half life and doom(s) you carry a riduculous amount of weapons. Not that i HATE the variety, but i hate how it seems to kills to suspension of reality by being able to carry a full GUNSn AMMO catalog of weapons.... i wonder if they'll limit your inventory size?
