so you're saying a company which used to offer you their services for free is evil for attempting to charge for it now. You think they should just lose tons of money at your mercy. Would you rather go back to the days of no online demos at all and everyone has to wait for the magazine cover mounted CD?

It sounds pretty horrible from what AICN has been able to gather so far.

Lead choice for Superman? Keanu Reeves.

And that whole Krypton thing? Fugettaboutit. Now Superman gets his supernatural powers from his cape.

The whole thing is a "reimagining" of the Superman bit, and it's planned on being a trilogy.

With any luck this game will be like Tron 2.0 and be independent from any film (i.e., the game was planned before the movie was a go).

Or relieved?

why didn't they just continue finishing the one they had earlier

Memory serves EA was who killed Ultima Online 2. Perhaps this bit of "Woodshedding" is Origin getting a lot of crap together on their off hours in order to sneak up on EA. For that matter, perhaps EA will pass on it and they'll get some other publisher to do it.

Plus the reason we saw Ultima Online 2 killed was because they didn't want to of their own games competing with each other. But this isn't Ultima Online 2, it's Ultima X, so maybe that will work. Plus we're about to see how well Asheron's Call II and EverQuest II fare against their forefathers, so maybe the market's more ready now.

Or maybe they've beaten Ultima Online for all it's worth.

I wonder if it'll be like a Windows upgrade - like a $20 one you can upgrade to or a $50 one to buy outright?

Actually as a result of this book's research supposedly they're talking again. Of couse that is different from being in the same room together.

My take is that Romero is like the Terence Trent D'arby of game development. The public didn't go for his ego (they did go for the ego of a Jennifer Lopez), so they handed him is ass on a plate now. Now D'arby and Romero are both considerably more humble.

Let's hope Romero has more success.

I guess so. I also guess it's true that before too long people won't be developing any engines in-house and instead a few established ones ("latest Unreal engine", "latest id Engine") will be the ones used.

So is this would have otherwise been called TRIBES 3? Man, their naming is crazier than Rambo flicks:

First Blood
Rambo: First Blood Part II
Rambo III

Oh well, let's hope it's good. But is anyone else kinda miffed that they're gonna license an engine?

Umm, Sierra published CS and (AFAIK) is publishing CS:CZ.

Activision is doing DoD Retail and there was much hubbub about that, since Sierra usually publishes Valve stuff and Valve said they'd have Activision do stuff in the future.

Sierra's arrangement with Valve was never exclusive. Maybe they're talking with Activision in order to get one hell of a sweet deal with Sierra. Or maybe Activision is publishing Half-Life 2 and CNN is just speculating.

...Activision charges for something that looks like DoD, and gives away Enemy Territory for free.

I'm not jumping on the old "hate DoD because its engine is old" bandwagon, but it is an odd business decision.

Forbes shows how Moore is full of crap

Forbes shows the same old four points:

TITLE: No, Moore titled the movie that way because it was *thought* that the kids went bowling. It was also *thought* that the kids played DOOM and listened to Marilyn Manson. Both of those became immediate targets - why didn't bowling?

MISSLES: Moore did go off on a tangent here - but no sane individual would think thst Colmbine happened because of Lockheed Martin

WELFARE: Agreed. The Welfare-to-Work segment of BfC was stupid and should have been left out.

BANK: See, here's the funny thing. The bank has changed their story many times since the movie came out. In all liklihood the bank does do a background check and hand out the guns in the bank, just not on the same day. It was a staged scene. If they have you go to a gun shop, then why did an officer of the bank state that the bank has 500 guns in their safe? For that matter, why in the hell did the bank - whose reputation would be tarnished - go along with the "same day" stunt at all? I think the bank has changed their policies in response to movie criticism. Of course the movie took three years to make - it may have been changed for some time.
