You guys realize under Epic's model developers could shift to making more free games, and generate revenue purely through in-app purchases. These stores would never see a dime on those titles but would be expected to maintain the store front, curate and host them.

I guess Epic feels the extra bagillions they can gain from the extra players on a new platform, with no cut to their profits outweighs the legal cost of this lawsuit (because they have a shit-ton of money already).

The company who makes deals with third-party games to sell exclusively on their store, is suing the company who wants a cut from third-party sales made on their own store. Oh the ironing...

It goes a little further with Bioshock because if left alone it genuinely concluded, and on a very high note. If they're going to drag the name back in to the open, I hope they have something very worthy to present

You can choose not to care about that, but I value over all story personally. Just like I never want to see a Cowboy Bebop season 2 (or a live adaption, but that's another story).

I understood all of the Bioshocks. Infinite I understood to be about infinitely intersecting parallel planes of a multiverse when Robert/Rosalind Lutece have you flip a coin. record the result, and the conversation they have afterward.

However, since Ken Levine will not be involved with this iteration of Bioshock, it will require a significant amount of positive reviews for me to be interested.

This is my stance exactly. Bioshock: Infinite to me was genius, and tied the rest of the series into that genius through it's story.

Man, now I'm kinda jonesing for another full playthrough...

I kinda like the game - reminds me of AC:Odyssey a lot. But, the sky looks terrible on Ultra settings. Overall, it might be the fast-pace of the game but it doesn't look as good or is as optimized as Death Stranding. Sure, Death Stranding is totally different all the way around. But, playing this, thing, that is like AC:Odyssey x 1.5, it's ok, but for all of those Death Stranding detractors - quite frankly this game is crap/pales in comparison. Go buy yourself Death Stranding, smoke some pot or something to quell your ADHD.

I know next to nothing about Death Stranding, and I've been trying to keep it that way while make up my mind on whether to purchase or not. This may have just sold me.

LOL. Dont, just dont. Death stranding is like, literally one of the worst games ever made.

So conflicted. I'll wait for it on the cheap.

Running mine on an Intel Optane drive. Rest of the system is non-cheap stuff as well.

I wouldn't say my issues are bad, just the hitching is mildly annoying.

I did have the crash on the very first run someone mentioned, but no crashes since.,

i7-7820 (3.6ghz), 32gig, 1080ti on a 2560x1440 gsync
Most settings maxed, except Shadows and Clouds on High settings.
Average 72, Max 150, min 21

I'm experiencing all the issues from the DF review. The frame-time drops every few moments, creating a split-second hitch. Also the 30 fps facial expression limit is pretty noticeable. Like they said, it gives a subtle claymation effect.

However, no regrets buying this. The gameplay is fantastic, as is the setting. They mentioned they're addressing the issues, so I'm just going to shelve this for now (maybe; the gameplay's addictive) and revisit after I pick up one of the new cards on the way.

Digital Foundry covered it and the port is a train wreck, very disappointing.

Man, train wreck does not even begin to describe it. And I was kinda interested at first...

The main concerns of the Digital Foundry review are mentioned as high priority fixes, so at least they're acknowledging them. If this was a typical Square Enix release we'd get the game in this state (if we're lucky) and have to guess on whether a patch at all was coming.

My mom always told me.. she told me, "Son, someday you may find yourself upscaling, but when you do, by all that's holy, do not bicubic upscale.". Then my dad would just turn to her and make that face; you know.. that did-someone-just-say-bicubic-upscaling face.

Churns my stomach just thinking back to it.

According to the mentioned Digital Foundry video this pegs the CPU as much as the GPU. The frames stopped improving on the lower resolutions pretty quickly for the 2 low end cards they tested.

But muh gawd, the graphics. That was my first look at the game, really impressive.

Let me familiarize you with a group of people who boycott Epic because of "uncompetitive practices."

A sub-set of the "I'm ok with Epic doing said practices because I have a bias against Steam" group.

Thing is, from what I've heard EA's games still require Origin to launch (SWToR doesn't require it normally, so I assume that one's an exception).

May as well just keep purchasing on Origin. imo.

My cash register analogy is just pointing out the low feature set of the storefront in general. Granted they've made a few strides since launch, but it's still lackluster compared to most.

From what I've seen of posts in Steam threads really makes this seems as the pro-EGS exclusives group really dislike Steam vs the people against these exclusive who don't like this business practice. Defending EGS because of a bias, in other words. I don't mind that a store gives Steam competition, it -is- good to do so. I'd rather it be from competing features and prices, though. Then the consumer wins too. This is just hostage taking tactics.

And yes the publishers are to blame as well as EGS. You can't write off Epic's roll in this, especially when they're throwing so much money around towards it.

Also the lego analogy is a bit off. Every game has the potential to be a completely unique experience vs another. It'd be more apt to compare exclusive skins being sold in one store vs another. It's closer to say what if Walmart was the only place to buy yogurt. What's the problem? You can find dairy products at other stores!

And if I were as passionate about Legos as I were about video games this may upset me. Especially if Walmart only let me walk one item up to the cash register at a time.

Why is it so hard to understand we don't like EGS's practice in this regard? I thought we all valued PC as an open platform.

Every other digital store, "Hey kids, here's our store. Here's the features we provide over other stores. Here's the prices we have vs others.".
EGS - "Hey kids, here's a bunch of free candy, but if you want to see the good stuff you have to hop in this sketchy van and come to our house.".
