It's a sign of good writing. Simply being on the internet doesn't excuse common protocol, though most of us don't practice it out of sheer laziness.

It seems your teachers neglected to teach you any better, so I'll leave you with the classic guide to writing, Strunk and White's, 'Elements of Style'. You would do well to read and live by it young man. As a matter of fact, Cutter especially would.

Keep in mind, I'm only explaining something here, I'm neutral on how I feel about this. If the main game has X amount of fun in it, then I'm not bothered at all.. but just to clarify...

That's not -exactly- what they posted. What they said is they are breaking up the main game into three parts because to finish it fully in one shot would take too much time. As in the original intent was to have all three campaigns in the main game (like the original).

It gives the impression the main campaign could end up rather short. Course, who knows how it'll actually end up. I think in the end once all three parts are out you'll have a much larger game then StarCraft 1, since they're adding so many units on top of units as they go...

Wurd. The love for this game comes from what it IS capable of doing within the limitations of a modern computer game. A few times when the chopper dropped off my fellow marines and I at the LZ the pilot must have noticed the bad guys on the other side of town. Instead of returning to base, he flew across town and the gunner and the rocket pods went to work. That kind of unscripted surprise makes me

And I do hope everyone knows if you free look your head while you run and look down you'll see your gun. You just don't hold it up in front of you when you sprint.

A few things, if you installed the older 1.2 patch you'll get a message saying the 1.2 patch is already installed when you run this one (it'll also patch very quickly). The new patch will still be applied, you'll see the full screen anti-aliasing option enabled. Even on low it greatly increases image quality.

This new patch brings copies UP TO the same rev as the steam version (including steam demo). These are hot fixes they where able to squeeze into the Steam version, and are now offered to the rest of us without waiting for a 1.3 patch.

If you have an uber rig you can set the 3-D render resolution higher then your display resolution and you now have Super-Sampling Anti-Aliasing :p Probably something to use up the road unless you're running the game on a fast system on a lower res monitor.

There's a mod that greatly reduces the robotic radio-chatter. Check out the mods section. There's another that makes everyone's aim less pinpoint accurate. Firefights now last much longer, and are more forgiving about your poking your head around a corner for a few seconds (though you'll still get hit well enough).

To use a mod, create a folder like @mods then within that folder create another folder called AddOns. Place any .pbo's into the AddOns folder and add -mod=@mods (or whatever name you go with) to your launch shortcut.

Seriously. Black robed evil controlling military assassins did not hold a meeting and suddenly decide the most effective means of mind controlling the public would be to create a special team of programmers to design a video game that would take over the minds of our youth and create zombie killing machines. We're not quite that evil yet.

The military has a recruiting budget. When Bush was in office this budget was increased after 9/11. Someone clever realized many young kids play video games, so why not make a presence in this media market? This SAME MONEY would have went to making a TV commercial, or design of a new recruiting brochure.

Now it does show a somewhat sanitized side of the Army, but it doesn't seem to go too far beyond just doing that. Least what little of it I played. End result is, it provides a shooter to anyone who downloads it. If that person is already interested in joining the military then it probably -does- serve to peek their interest further, but that's about it really.

It's about as much of a mind controlling recruitment tool as Airsoft.

Id love to comment on the game itself but I'm still downloading. Seems you can get through, it's just luck of the draw.

Sir Knight, there is something screwy if you're running Crysis with better frames then ArmA. I've had it running silky smooth with every single setting set to max over two generations of NVIDIA cards on Vista 64. Currently my GTX280 runs it with no problems at all 1920x1200. I've been running ETS+CWR, and ETS+ACE, -and- using the latest beta patch. Something's not right there, think what you may of the game, but it should certainly run better then Crysis which on my system is the case.

I don't know, game looks like it's running pretty well to me.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wXx3vMy_AQ&fmt=22

Select beta testers from the community have been playing the game. This guy was allowed to show off a bit of the game and how it interacts with the head tracker demonstrated here.

Also if you haven't played ArmA recently with the new A.C.E mod. It really does have the old OpFlash feel now. There's a pinned forum topic on the official forums relating to addons for immersion. A.C.E. pretty much took care of about 90% of the long list of mods that where in that thread when it came along. Just make the modifications to the ini file described at the beginning of that thread to make the enemy less spot on deadly, add ACE and you're good to go.

I played Operation Flashpoint and now ArmA to death, and honestly I'm completely happy with ArmA now (I use ECS + ACE), where as in the beginning all I could see in ArmA was potential.

Edit: the focus of this video is on how TrackIR integrates with the game, but a ton of HD in game footage begins halfway into the video if you don't have any interest in the TrackIR.
